Things I want to see from the next AC game

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 07:45 AM PDT

    -Return of the Hidden Blade

The Spear of Leonidas was nice, and it brought some unique gameplay to the series, but the blade will always be the weapon of the Brotherhood.

    -Social Stealth

It's literally one of the tenets, and a major component of an Assassins tactics. It's also a interesting and unique gameplay mechanic. Nuff said.

-Scripted sequences, missions, and set pieces

Being able to solve problems and have open ended gamplay has been nice, but without developer crafted experiences, nearly every mission/quest/sequence has started to feel the same.

-A focus on the Creed and tenants

The Creed is the fulcrum of the Brotherhood's belief system and guides how they act and interact with the world. Obeying the creed is at the center of an Assassins life and their mission. It needs to be reentered into focus.

    -Templars

The proto-templars have been confusing and a bit sloppy, time to return to form.

    -Rebecca Crane and Shaun Hastings

The new MD characters (aside from a few in the comics) are not very interesting or memorable, it's time to get what is left of the old crew back together.

    -Otso Berg

Arguably the most interesting MD character, a templar who had temporarily made an alliance with the Assassins, and a father trying to provide for his young, sick daughter, and the retired black cross. Hopefully he can become a focal point of the MD narrative in some way

-Narrative based quest progression, rather than level based quest progression

Level based quest progression created unfortunate grinding experiences and often times ruined the flow of the game. With level scaling it makes the system almost entirely pointless. Bring back narrative progression!

    -An improved/robust parkour system

Parkour has taken a back seat, with limited movement options, and a overly simplified system

-Bigger, more dense urban environments with 1:1 scale structures and excellent parkour level design

There is rarely anything interesting to climb on, or run across, and urban environments are no longer tailored for parkour, players are constantly forced to the ground and ruin the flow of parkour

-Eagle Vision (origins and odyssey style)

One of my favorite changes from the new games, and a more useful/interesting mechanic

-A different modern day protag (Layla stinks)

Layla is not likable, I don't sympathize with her, and her bad personality, attitude, and actions make her unredeemable as a protag. Get rid of her.

-A singular, Linear narrative, and protag

Odyssey's multiple characters, and branching stories was an interesting change, but one that ultimately took away from the AC franchise and the gameplay experience. Too many non-canon stories that didnt improve the storytelling overall and broke the franchise's rules along the way

-the ability to leave the animus at any time

Being able to leave the animus at any point is an important aspect of the AC experience. It sells the idea that you are in a simulation, and that you are playing as a MD protag, who is then experiencing the memories of an ancestor. it also allows you to interact with the world thats going on outside the animus

-more puzzles to solve, things to read, places to parkour when outside of the animus

If you can get out of the animus you have to have something to do. Also more scripted sequences (like the events of assassin's creed brotherhood) help make the modern day segments more interesting to see and partake in.

    -One hit assassinations

Not being able to take out a target in one hit ruins the stealth gameplay style. AC is about being an Assassin, why would the assassins main tactic be hamstrung?

-A smaller, tighter world and experience

Though Origins and Odyssey have lots of content, a lot of that content is very repetitive, boring, and a slog. A game that is 150 hours with only 30 hours of interesting gameplay, is not a good game. A tighter experience would cut the fluff.

What AC game is best if you really dislike the modern day parts?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 09:33 PM PDT

I get the importance of the modern day story but enjoyment wise I'm not a big fan. Black Flag was insanely cool and I'd love to replay it, but I hated the modern day parts so much. Same with Ezio's trilogy. Are there any which really limit the modern parts?

Assassin's Creed Ezio Edition PS4 Worth it?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 11:13 PM PDT

I have all three games at my PC, and already finished AC:2 and AC:Brotherhood, atm I am playing Revelations. I wonder if the improvements they made at Ezio Edition (as it is stated remastered versions) worth buying them at PS4 as there is a Ubisoft sale atm?

Can you lock your character level in odyssey? Levelling up past 50 feels like a punishment

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 07:31 AM PDT

I think I might miss something important but this system induces vomiting regularly while playing. What levelling up grants you:

Inflating all numbers: money you get, damage you deal and take; while your gear and recourses in your inventory stay the same. They degrade in worth. You MUST upgrade your shit every 8 levels at max, while stored money for that loose value fast. I'm that kind of player that loots everything. Every urn, every purse. But I dont have the money, to upgrade an old build to my current level. And all that shit doesn't feel good, because you get inevitably punished for playing. The enemies get nothing but stronger. Your power is artificially capped. The more you play, the weaker you get.

And the skill points you dump in stats is a cheap, uninspired excuse for prolonging the level up punishment and incentivising the purchase of microtransactions.

Please proof me wrong. I loved every ac game and adored Origins, but finishing odyssey kills my fandom

Alright, the last one went swimmingly, so here's what I got from Revelation's recruits. Gimme all the rest?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 07:23 AM PDT

After so many of you came out to show support on the last post, I couldn't just wait till I started recruiting in AC:R before making this list for you all. I scoured a ton of YouTube videos trying to spot new names, and I think I've found all I can there, including a few from the last list that carried over, but it didn't seem to be too many. Now I need y'all's help again to finish this one to add to my Codex Temporis too. Would you kindly? And since there was so much support on the AC:BH Recruits, I decided to go ahead and make a bonus list of as many ships as I could find for Kenway's Fleet, if you'd like to jump ship and help the crew over there too? But without further ado, here's all I've found for Revelations. And I know it's not finished, so gimme any ya got that I missed!

My pitch for a new style of Assassin’s Creed games

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 04:23 PM PDT

Make it like Hitman. That's it, simple as that. Now don't get me wrong, I love both traditional AC and the new RPG AC. The open world recreations of these eras are stunning and it's a joy to absorb their atmosphere.

However, my main complaint is the assassinations do not feel nearly as meticulous or epic as they did in the original game. Also, I feel like most targets are just presented to you and killed off quickly without much sense of who they are or why they actually matter.

By limiting the scope to sprawling, yet intricate and meticulously crafted levels ala Hitman, I think Ubisoft would be able to retain that sense of historical beauty & wonder, while also giving villains more time to shine and making assassinations feel much more elaborate & thrilling.

Each "season" could focus on one era and varied environments within that era. Or, alternatively, each "season" could jump around in time and space. It would be pretty cool to have one huge sprawling mission for each of the main protagonists so far. They could even use the same location, but have two variations of it in different time periods.

Anyways, I think this would be a really cool Avenue for Ubisoft to take. I don't think it should replace the main series necessarily, but could be a nice spinoff/side series that offers up a more tight, contained experience for those who don't want to commit to a 100 hour grind in a huge open world.

    What do you all think?

Ambient music should be in any of the future games.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 06:50 PM PDT

I absolutely hate walking around in Odyssey(sea shanties are ok)and all I hear are goddamn birds that have become annoying after first 10 hours of gameplay. Please for the love of god, we need ambient music in the game. Not just for fights or story mission. It needs to be almost everywhere. Ambient just adds for a lot more atmosphere and incredible feeling to the game.

Ambient music has to be different depending on the zone that you are in just like it was in assassin's creed 2. Yes it does cost money, yes it does need a lot of work put to it but that's a HUGE improvement to the open world especially if it's as beautiful as Odyssey is.

P.S yes Odyssey does have some music in the cities and some towns but it's simply just not enough.

    Edit: spelling

Would you guys like a live action modern day focused TV show?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 04:34 AM PDT

With the news that Netflix is making an AC series, altho anime, and Disney owning the rights for a new movie, I was thinking how Modern Day, so overlooked in the games, could be used for a television show exploring the modern lore of Abstergo and present Assassins and their struggle for power in a globalized world.

The setting, imo, should be European to still capture an historical atmosphere, there should be a bit of uncharted vibe to the hunt for artifacts and the narrative should be along the lines of cyberpunk lite Mr Robot, with a team of hackers, I mean, Assassins, taking down Ecorp, I mean Abstergo, while a third group is trying to hack reality, I mean resurrecting Isu beings and devices.

We could have dedicated episodes to historical narratives but I still think modern day should be the focus because we already have so little of it.

Besides animus in live action is a tricky thing because you can only follow the memories of your ancestor or person's DNA.

The key to sucessos is in the writing. If it understands AC it can be a great tv show. If not, it turns into the failed movie.

Why I hate about Assassin's Creed III

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 03:05 AM PDT

I will have a lot of enemy after this... But Assassin's Creed is not a franchise where you are stealth. Some games are like that, but the AC franchise is a story of how the character interpreter the Assassin's Creed "nothing is true everything is permitted". And also the message behind every AC's games. And please look at Assassin's Creed III.

Yes, for the time he looks good, yes parkour the tree is good... But in this game... We don't see any creed... It's just a doctrine war between Templar and Assassin who take place in one of the most important historical event in human history. On one side we've got Connor, a naif native completly indoctrinated by the overzealous Achilles. ( you don't think he is? Go play Rogue) And on the other side we've got Haytham, an orphan, son of an Assassin, kidnap by a templar, to make him a templar. Now look at the event from the POV of Connor.

His village was attacked, and he meet his future target. He doesn't know the truth... but he doesn't care... They attacked the village. So he goes to find Achilles, an old Assassin's, who, even if he is resilient, tutor the young Connor to be an Assassin. But the old man want revenge, and the young seek freedom.

Nothing is true everything is permitted... We all know it's a disguise sentence. I do a very quick resume of the real definition:
Nothing is true = Seek for the truth, not what they told you
Everything is permitted = Don't be a puppet in others hand

If Achilles wanted to teach the Creed to Connor, he would teach him to seek the truth... not just execute orders. We can do a parralel with Assassin's Creed (1)... Achilles is Al Mualim, and Connor is Altair before he go back to the novice rank. But Altair change... Connor... not really...

    Now look at Connor's target:
William Johnson -> Wanted to protect the native by all means
John Pitcairn -> Wanted to stop the war by the negociation
Thomas Hickey -> Wasn't Templar enough, so Haytham sacrifice him to try to convince his son
Benjamin Church -> Switzerland's guy, he is a more complex character that is seems.
Nicholas Biddle -> Was tracked down by Connor just because he was Templar
Haytham Kenway -> Wanted to teach Connor the one thing Achilles didn't... The Creed... And yes... he's a Templar...
Charles Lee -> Well... this guy is a d*ck... a ressourceful d*ck... But in the end... Connor and him are the same.. two guy indoctrinated by their allegiance.. The Last Drink can show us that in the end, if they were on the same side, they could be friends.

Assassin's Creed III is a bad Assassin's Creed for me because... there is no Creed... The franchise is not about Assassin or staby staby parkour... It's about Assassin's creed... It's a huge difference for me.

    Let me read your feedback!

We need an Assassin's Creed IV Remaster

    Posted: 26 Sep 2019 03:45 PM PDT

At least for PC, I really really like ACIV, but damn does it perform so horribly compared to any of the other games and personally I really enjoyed Assassin's Creed III remastered. Hope we get Kenway's pirate adventure HD soon.
