Not surprising assassination statistic in Valhalla

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:53 PM PDT

2 years ago I posted assassination stats regarding my ACO adventure and happily at the time I sat around 40-45%. With Valhalla I still strive for a sort of stealthy approach in all missions, when applicable, and so I did the math again. ATM I sit at 1765 assassinations to 7019 total kills. Basically 25%. It's certainly better than I thought but crazy low for striving for stealth. Frustrating how ACO and ACV basically shove down your throat the notion to charge straight into battle without the option of stealth.

Valhalla’s movement system is utterly terrible

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 01:36 PM PDT

Valhalla is easily one of the glitchiest games I've ever played on top of the fact that the movement system is so atrocious it almost makes the game not worth playing almost everything that has anything to do with climbing is so utterly terrible and sad that it feels like they gave up halfway through making it, it's like they didn't even attempt to have smooth climbing black flag on the ps3 had smoother controls compared to this sad garbage

assassins creed black flag sailing npc ships

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 05:17 PM PDT

if you guys didn't know, the modding community is growing tremendously for assassins creed, specifically assassins creed 4, mods are being made to sail npc ships and to use npc characters. this was not always possible before, only about 2/3 years ago had the first forge file tools had been made for importing and exporting forge files, and about one year ago was the first mod made. this same method can be used to changing models in almost every ac game. this post is just to make people aware if you wanted to sail npc ships and such back in 2015 well its now possible, and mods are already released on the nexus. also im not sure if this is against the TOS.

Assassin’s Creed: Retribution (My Idea for an Assassin’s Creed Game)

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:30 PM PDT

If you like the idea of this and want me to post a detailed storyline, let me know! Hopefully this can appeal to both OG fans of the series and newer ones, taking the best from both worlds. I have a fairly good idea of what I want the story to be about and I've already began writing it about an hour ago, but here are the important aspects of this game:

Time and place: * 1810 * War of 1812 in the United States, France, and Great Britain * Big Closing Cutscene around mid 1830s

Assassins: * Connor (about 56 years old) * Léon ( about 28 years old) * Arno (about 44 years old) * Aveline (about 65 years old) * Not necessarily Assassins, but allies will be made

Templars: * Shay (about 81 years old) * Other Templars that need to be fleshed out, but connected to Shay * Napoleon Bonaparte (has Apple of Eden and becomes corrupted by it, joins Templars, may or may not be connected to Shay, I still have to decide)

Small Details: * No modern day, purely a concluding sequel to a few characters that needed it. I know a lot of people didn't really like Connor or Arno (I personally loved Arno), so I want to see if I can make them better * The Cafe Theatre and the Davenport Homestead can be visited and interacted with * Haytham's journal is in the Davenport Homestead and can be interacted with * The French Brotherhood Assassin Council Area can be visited * In Britain, it is possible to see the Kenway Mansion, however since the Templars control it even after Evie and Jacob's time, you are not allowed to go inside (each Assassin will have something to say about it when looking at it) * Connor and Aveline take on older sibling roles for Arno, and are like an aunt and uncle to Léon * Arno refers to Léon as his son, although at this point, he has had a child with another woman since Callum Lynch is a descendant of Arno, although the kid isn't mentioned and is probably with his mother * Arno is much like the Arno seen in Dead Kings, very stoic and poised. The only things he cares about are the Creed and Léon * Léon is brash and reckless, the others are constantly chiding him * Aveline is her usual self * Connor has had a daughter, so he is more relaxed, but cautious about strangers * Shay is very old and remarkably still alive, but he is still integral to the story (it's called Retribution for a reason lol) * Some historical figures will play key roles, but I don't know who they are as of this moment (I'm not a Ubisoft research team but I'll figure it out later) * Assassin's Creed history is a bit flexible and will be shown, nothing too major * Multiplayer comes back with a storyline where up to 4 players can play together with different Assassins, but I'm not writing that one * Multiplayer could also include 1v1, 2v2, 1v1v1, or 1v1v1v1 trying to stealthily assassinate your targets while staying alive

Gameplay: * Freely switch between Assassins like in Syndicate, main story missions require a certain Assassin to be used * Naval Combat is back using Black Flag mechanics (pretty important focus on it since the War of 1812 was predominantly naval), Connor gets a new ship that the others can use (undecided on name) * Ship upgrade system like Black Flag, needs currency and materials * Health bar with notoriety markers, can tear down papers, bribe speakers, or kill witnesses to reduce notoriety * Assassin Recruits are back! Certain World Events allow you to recruit up to 12 Assassin recruits * Recruits can be sent on missions throughout Europe and North America and can die either in missions or when called in combat * Like in Revelations, each Assassin Recruit has a story to feel more connected and invested in them * Tapping LB calls Assassin Recruits, holding LB has them throw knives instantly killing all the enemies around you * World/Crowd Events yield a reward after completing a certain number of them, spawn randomly * Collectible chests that can give currency, gear, or weapons * Eagle vision like in 1 - Syndicate, upgrades lead to more helpful indicators * Tools: smoke bombs, cherry bombs, poison gas, throwing knives, stun grenade * Skill trees like in Odyssey but realistic, no BS stuff like glowing yellow and being unkillable or turning invisible * Leveling up gives skill points, skills and abilities need skill points to be upgraded * Leveling up also increases the level cap of your gear and weapons * You can ride horses and carriages in all three countries * You can either pay for a horse or steal one, stealing in a populated town or city puts the police on you * Currency is automatically converted to the country you are in (Livres = France, Dollars = United States, Pounds = Britain) * Currency is used to upgrade weapons, buy tools, add perks to weapons and gear, rent a horse, etc * Travel between United States, Britain, and France * Parkour, movement, and combat system from Valhalla minus pressing LS to change speed * LB and RB to parry * Hold RB to use melee ability, LT to use ranged abilities * No left handed attacks * D-pad: Down - whistle to attract enemies, up- use medicine, left - select ranged weapon, right - select tool * Enemies have light attacks and unblockable attacks and can parry or dodge * Enemies adapt to your fighting style * (Ex: if you use too many light attacks, they will parry and attack you more often while you are briefly recovering from the parry. It happens very quick so you'll need to react fast) * (If you stay at range for too long, enemies will run toward you in random patterns making it harder to hit them) * Weak points are still a thing, drains enemy stamina bars * Stun attack animations vary on the weapon and Assassin (ex: Léon could strike fast multiple times cutting apart the enemy, whereas Connor might use his tomahawk and repeatedly hack at the enemy's head before beheading him) * Customizable weapons and gear for each Assassin * Certain weapons and gear are only available to certain Assassins (ex: Connor's tomahawk, Arno's Sword of Eden) * Gear pieces are Head, Torso, Hidden Blade, Legs, and Boots * Colors customize the colors of gear pieces. You can have a blue hood and a black torso if you want, or go all white, your choice * Each Assassin will have certain outfits they can wear, colors and gear pieces won't be shown if an outfit is equipped * Guns are back, both pistols and rifles, as well as bows. Connor uses his bow and trains the other three to use one * Arno and Léon have a special gift for Connor and Aveline, which all 4 can use ;) * Weapon system similar to Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, multiple weapon types with different Damage, Speed, and Stamina stats ("realistic" numbers, not like Odyssey) * Gear has Armor, Health, and Stealth stats * Melee weapons, tools, medicine, guns, and ammunition can be looted from dead enemies, chests, or bought in shops on the map * Weapons and gear have rarities (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary) * Arrows can be crafted in the inventory menu * Each Assassin will have different pros and cons (ex: Connor will lose more stamina in combat than Arno because he is older, but will have higher damage because of his experience and years of his brutal combat style) * Although Aveline is "old", she can still take care of herself in a fight * Order/Cultist like target menu except with British, American, and French Templars that are fueling the war * Optional objectives are back * No dialogue options, just a set and focused storyline that this series needs

Everytime I play Unity or Syndicate, the graphics weirdly seem better than the new games

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 09:58 PM PDT

Ok, I'm gonna try to make this comparison look as fair as possible. Imma list down some distinct points that I think are the issue. Would like to hear if something else stood out to you.

    1) Depth of field

In Unity/Syndicate cutscenes, characters in the background are often faded out (as well as the background itself) so to put the focus on main characters and what's happening. This can also be observed in other cutscenes like those on vantage points when the camera wants you to focus on a particular event. In contrast, cutscenes in the newer games feel a bit weird in the sense that everything is focused at the same time, and the images are way too sharp. You kinda see everything at the same time which lessens the degree of immersion.

    2) Character models

Character models are of course better in the newer games with more details and a more realistic semblance to the human body. But it doesn't help the quality of cutscenes since they've gone with the static camera angle and minimal facial expressions and body gestures in cutscenes. In fact in the newer games, cutscenes are the only place where they can showcase the details of the character models, because in normal gameplay, the camera is too far from the action (almost as if they want you to take in the scenery rather than focus on the characters).

    3) Colours (talking about Odyssey alone now)

The saturation feels unrealistic. Everything is way too colourful. I'm talking about the shields, armor, golden statues, ships etc. This may also be true about Valhalla from what I've seen (haven't gotten to actually playing it). I mean if shields are constantly being used, the paint should wear off, there should be scratches and signs of weathering. Same goes for clothes, ships etc. I guess Syndicate also had the same problem because the green and red uniforms (Rooks and Blighters) were a bit too flashy and cartoonish. Unity/Origins had the right idea about this. A little off topic, but there was a stage where the games were almost devoid of colour, like AC1, AC2. That was an elegant artistic style too, especially the characteristic tint/overlay unique to each city or area.

    4) Amount of detail

Here, I'm referring to how much you can see per frame while (say) running through a city or climbing something. I know, I know, bustling crowded city vs open stretches of plains ... but it could also be due to the camera angle. With it being so wide, we get a larger view but there's little anything TO see, so you wanna zoom in rather than zoom out, in order to focus on the little things of interest that do pop up, rather than on the background. This has one advantage though... the viewpoints are breathtaking.

(I don't know if the following points are directly related to graphics but I guess they are somehow relevant)

    5) Animations

Animations are downright clunky in the newer games. This is a heavy downgrade. Only compare the assassinations and you'll see it. Then, the cutscenes. Then, the combat animations (Syndicate too here).

    6) Effects

Now I'm gonna talk about how they handled fire, poison, and the weapons' visual effects in combat. This was a complete overhaul of the style that came with the RPG mechanics. The steel on steel collision in weapons is more often than not accompanied by white or red streaks (the only instance of this I noticed in previous games was the red heavy attack in Unity). Then there's how they handled poison. The whole body starts glowing green and covered in fumes, compared to a simple purple health bar. Same with fire. If either of these was merely a HUD element, it woulda been fine. But we see it happening to the person, which is unrealistic.

Now this all could be all subjective, based on my experience. Maybe it's all based on my preference of the artistic direction, because it's uncommon (almost impossible in the same series) that a more recent game would be inferior in graphics to an older one.

Anyways, would like to hear what you guys think.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity will ‘stay true to the franchise’s legacy of rich narrative experiences’

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 09:55 AM PDT

Considering the modern day SPOILERS from Valhalla, could a service-based game revisit earlier settings?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:16 PM PDT

Specifically, as digi-Layla and digi-Desmond are going to be studying alternate timelines for world-saving solutions, could a game like this look in at the same protagonists in altered events (or even brand new events that aren't "canon" to the timeline we currently know)? It seems like a way to start with a lot of assets that, though they would need touching up to bring to modern standards, would be faster than starting from scratch in order to make more content upfront to hook people in, it wouldn't necessarily limit the devs to only visiting old characters, and would certainly (if done well) satisfy fans clamoring for more Connor, Bayek, or even Arno for the diehard Unity fans.

Why is the stealth still so bad?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:33 PM PDT

The stealth in Valhalla makes absolutely zero sense. Even on the apprentice assassin difficultly you get spotted in 1 second and it's from someone across the camp. At least in Origins stealth was viable but it's so bad in this game. I really wish Ubisoft would do something about it but if they haven't fixed it by now then it's just not going to get fixed.

    Altair’s Full Storyline Remake Idea

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 12:16 AM PDT

I've had this idea for awhile now. It's regarding a full remake for AC with the new mechanics mixing the old school AC with the new RPG elements (no whacky finishers)

Essentially it has the same storyline and plot but with additional main and side quests with much more activities so the game feels more alive than the original.

In addition to the main story for AC, they can add the events of AC Altair Chronicles as a prologue and the events of AC Bloodlines and the adventures of Altair in AC Revelations as an expansion DLC, or instead. They can fit the entire Altair timeline in one game like:

The events of: AC Altair Chronicles (prologue) AC 1 + AC Bloodlines (main story) AC Revelations (epilogue)

What is your dream setting for a future AC installment?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 05:44 AM PDT

For me, it would probably be something not too popular in common western historiography. Yuan China under Kublai Khan, for example, would be a fun bet - potential for an enormous and variable map, many new enemy types allowing for different playstyles, interesting historical figures such as Marco Polo, and in general an adventure game set in Asia but not Japan for once.

What are you thinking about ac future after next two dlc for Valhalla.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 04:29 PM PDT

What do you think about ac Valhalla. What everyone favorite part of all the main ac games. What did you like about Valhalla right now. What was fun is now everyone can use assassins creed stuff a little. Paris dlc could be close to ac 2 and brotherhood. I would like if they add more stealth to it. What do you think.

    Black Flag and its trophies.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 03:34 AM PDT

So, I'm trying to get all of the trophies in Black Flag (PS4) and I can't get them all, because 6/51 require you to play multiplayer. By that, pay more money on PSN, just to get the remaining achievements, not including the price of the game I already payed for.

I don't know if that's just me, but it's dang annoying.
