    I’m gonna be honest, it feels weird seeing people saying Odyssey is a better game than Valhalla

    Posted: 10 May 2021 11:42 AM PDT

    Edit: Let me make one thing clear, if you prefer Odyssey over Valhalla or you think Odyssey is a great game and Valhalla isn't, MORE POWER TO YOU! Don't let anyone tell you what opinion you should have, this is just something I wanted to get off of my chest.

    After months of marketing for Valhalla and seeing people say "oh wow this sounds like an improvement from Odyssey" to when the game launched seeing things like "oh yeah this game is better than Odyssey" or "they finally got it right with the RPG AC" it's so odd how now Valhalla is considered "disappointing" or like the title said, seeing people say that Odyssey is better". Like, what happened? Was the honeymoon phase that short for Valhalla? Different opinions from different people I know, but when I see YouTube channels like Lazerzz remove their positive review of the game and seeing their opinions change, I wonder how many people did the same. And it's a shame too because I thought there was a general consensus that Valhalla was moving AC in the right direction and stuff like that.

    (rant) Ac Valhalla Micro Transactions

    Posted: 10 May 2021 10:01 AM PDT

    I'm getting tired of this. The microtransactions are getting out of hand. They were already bad before but this is ridiculous, how are we letting this slide. Why are we so complacent about it. We as a community who crucified unity for a buggy and broken release with crummy business tactics. And odyssey and valhalla did the same thing, and we just let it slide? (To be fair to odyssey it was bad but no where near the level of valhalla) We go "oh is just the way ubi is." No it's not, we got a crappy release with valhalla and extra content and dlc has been crap and scummy. And now they are releasing reskins of outfits from OLDER GAMES! FOR FULL PRICE! WHICH IS ALREADY OVER PRICED BECAUSE 1 OF THEM IS THE THRID OF THE COST OF THE BASE GAME! is no one angry about this? Why are we not fighting this. EA's whole community shot them down when they did it. We destroyed an entry to this franchise, when it was no where near this bad. It should be like this. We deserve respect and we deserve better than this. We need to fight back. This is not ok.

    Just started playing Odyssey for the first time this week, and after about 30 hours played so far, I can confidently say this is one of the best open world games I've ever played.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 10:08 AM PDT

    Seriously, this game is incredible. Mechanics are amazing, combat is super fun, animations are top tier, the horses are god tier mountain climbers, the climbing is as good as ever, the ship/naval battle stuff is incredible, Ikaros gives the game another layer thats just so damn cool and fun, the weapons/armor are some of the best looking in any game ever and on top of all that the story really has me captivated so far. Ive barely even made a dent in the game so far, and its all I want to play.

    100% deserves to be up there with the likes of the Witcher, GTA and Elder Scrolls games.

    Which AC game do you think had the best map for parkour (not in general).

    Posted: 10 May 2021 07:05 AM PDT

    Mine personally was Paris in Unity, all the buildings were close with many places to jump.

    New camera angle is fantastic. Ubisoft add the walk toggle to console and it'll be a game changer.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 02:52 PM PDT

    I can see the settings there for PC players. Please just add it for console. Really hyped for the Dlc

    Never heard Ezio's Family Theme in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

    Posted: 10 May 2021 11:14 PM PDT

    When does it actually play in-game because I've played over a hundred hours and completed all story content and I don't remember ever hearing the AC Valhalla rendition of the Ezio's Family motif.

    Are there additional combat audio packs for AC:V or a way to decompress them? Like axe connections, hits etc

    Posted: 10 May 2021 06:39 PM PDT

    The combat sounds really compressed as audio files, especially the finishing moves, it almost borders static for me. I've patched and checked for updates but still the same combat sounds. Are there additional combat sounds that I can get?

    When you finished AC Valhalla, how much power did you have?

    Posted: 10 May 2021 08:06 PM PDT

    I'm nearing the 72 percent mark in my game and have about 230 in power, but that got me to thinking about how much I should have when I finish the game. How much power did you have when you finished?

    I Have Been Incredibly Bored with Valhalla. I’m Trying To Figure Out Why.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 09:19 AM PDT

    I'm the type of player to want to go for platinum trophies and finish games as completely as I can. So when I noticed that once I out down Valhalla in February and have only picked it back up to claim the Altair outfit (not even play with it on), I was confused. I put 180+ hours into Odyssey and it never felt dull. I put 140+ hours into Origins and still love the game. I'm not sure what's so different about Valhalla, but it isn't clicking. I beat the story, gathered some of the wealth, and that was about it. I didn't go searching for side quests or artifacts, I didn't level to the max level (before they raised it), didn't feel like exploring, nothing.

    But then I revisited Unity. I'm 3 trophies away from the platinum for that and most of what I'm doing now is just collecting chests and cockades, but it's FUN. I feel compelled to play it, to be in that world.

    TL;DR: Not sure why Valhalla is a grating experience to me but Unity is incredibly alluring, even with significantly less to do.

    [SPOILER] Expansion on Celtic Isu and the Wrath of the Druids DLC theory

    Posted: 10 May 2021 10:28 AM PDT

    I made a theory post a couple months ago about the Celtic Isu, which you can find here: https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/lh3vl9/the_celtic_isu_and_a_small_theory_on_the_wrath_of/

    This post is a follow up on that one after seeing the leaks to do with the WotD dlc that have recently emerged.

    [DISCLAIMER] I will be linking directly to confirmed leaks in this post so if you don't want to know anything about the DLC, including potential plot points and gear that will appear in the game now is the time to stop reading.

    So in the original post I explained how the Celtic Isu are most likely based on the Tuatha Dé Danann, a race of gods from Celtic-Irish mythology, due to the fact we can find inscriptions from two Isu, Lug [the polymath] and Morrigan, while there is also the Isu bow named after Nodens'. These three all belong to the Tuatha Dé Danann leading me to believe we'll see more of this group of Isu in the WotD dlc.

    Recently what looks to be all the gear pieces in the dlc have been leaked online and one specific spear I want to draw your attention to is the Spear linked here.

    This is Gae Bolg, a spear owned by the god Cú Chulainn. Cú Chulainn appears in the Ulster cycle of Irish mythology and is said to be the son of Lugh while also being an incarnation of said god.

    Now what's interesting about this spear in the game is the fact that it has the same glowing animation along its shaft that Odin's isu spear Gungnir has but instead of the typical isu gold colouring it's instead red. It also has an added affect of creating strikes of red lightning from the tip to shock enemies, similar to how Gungnir has an extended reach due to a forcefield on the weapon.

    Everything is pointing towards Gae Bolg being an Isu spear in the same vein as Gungnir. Considering both the owners of Gungnir and Mjolnir show up in the base game it's fair to think the owner of Gae Bolg, Cú Chulainn/Lugh, will show up in the WotD, hinting at the celtic Isu potentially playing a bigger role than expected in the DLC.

    Video of all leaked gear can be found here: https://youtu.be/PnsY8XsTWIA

    Orlog bug in Norway? (Valhalla)

    Posted: 10 May 2021 02:54 PM PDT

    I'm currently playing against all the orlog players but I can't start a match against the woman in Stavanger (it won't give me the option to start the match). Is this a bug or do I have to come back to her once I've defeated the other players?

    (Odyssey) I enjoy making NPCs fight so I built them a Battle Royale Arena in the Nemean Lion Pit.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 01:09 AM PDT

    Title: Battle Royale in the Nemean Lion Pit

    Join Markos and let someone else fight for your amusement for a change. It's Pathfinder of Artemis vs Athenian Archer vs Cult Scion vs Spartan Berserker vs Bandit Brute vs Spartan Hoplite vs Elder of Ares vs Athenian Heavy Soldier vs Huntress of Artemis vs Priest of Ares vs Bandit Rogue vs Fanatic of Ares vs Beastmaster of Artemis vs Bandit Thug vs Cult Guardian vs Pirate Punisher vs Lions. Kill the last one alive and loot their bodies.

    Add it to your story log here

    Here is the variation where all the fighters are immortal; they'll just fight indefinitely. It's totally stupid and there's no loot, but I am entertained by their fighting styles and all their shit talk.

    Here are some great abilities and skills that make Valhalla's combat really fun

    Posted: 10 May 2021 07:49 AM PDT

    Rush and Bash: It let's you ram enemies into a wall of off a cliff, it's really fun cause you can do it to almost anyone and throw them off cliffs.

    Dive of Valkyries: It let's you jump high and smash down on enemies. I love this one cause it can sometime one shot, so it can be used for stealth, and if it doesn't kill it will stagger them down allowing you to stomp on them.

    Harpoon impalement: By far my favorite ability, it let's you hook enemies and throw them in any direction. You can hit other enemies and it can kill both of them, you can throw them to walls or even off a cliff. I was in a boss fight and I threw them off a cliff with it and they instantly died. It's also funny how they trip when you throw them.

    Weapon throw: Not an ability but a skill, you can throw weapons from dead enemies to other enemies. It can literally one shot them most of the time. It's insanely broken and you can combo it with. It's similar to the throwing axe fury ability but you only throw one powerful weapon.

    Would I enjoy Valhalla based on what I enjoyed from Odyssey?

    Posted: 10 May 2021 02:55 AM PDT

    What I enjoyed from Odyssey:

    • a talent tree with abilities that are meaningful, both in how they change your gameplay and how they change when upgraded;
    • interesting quests and characters that allow you to choose what sort of impact the Eagle Bearer has on the world and how they deal with conundrums and misguided people;
    • The cult of Kosmos: hunting down people by looking for clues and helping people, spread all over the map;
    • A wide array of equipment with various effects to mix and match to fit your play style, though I feel like there might actually be a bit too much equipment because it feels like assembling the exact armor setup you are looking for takes a long time;
    • no fall damage at a relatively early level;
    • satisfying combat with enemies that generally don't take too many hits to kill with the Eivor DLC gear;

    What I don't like: - the ship combat; - the amount of water in Greece and how long it takes to get from 1 island to the next; - the repetitiveness of most map markers: go there, kill 3 dudes, find and loot 5 things… becomes monotonous and dull; - it felt like I didn't get enough gold and resources to keep my gear and ship updated, even with the booster active, though this ended up being moot once I started cheating in loads of them with a trainer. - opponents that are just slightly better than you in level, especially mercenaries, feel absurdly strong: take massive amounts of damage to kill and deal out massive damage; - those damn snakes that you find in caves and houses: you can't see them most of the time and they deal absurd damage. I died more to them than to anything else.

    I hope Basim outfit will have a gear set bonus about stealth

    Posted: 10 May 2021 01:48 AM PDT

    It is literally a new reason for me to start a new playthrough with this outfit. I do love Altair, Ezio and Bayek's outfit, but they were killing the immersion for me. Basim and Hytham's Hidden Ones outfit are so immersive and cool to me.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 01:13 AM PDT

    Is it Brotherhood, Revelations, 3 or Black Flag?

    Is there a way to stay in touch with people who gathered a small community to come together for matches to play, like Discord servers, etc. ? I'd appreacite if someone can help me out with this!

    Regarding Bonnet from Assassin's creed: Black flag....[Spoiler]

    Posted: 10 May 2021 04:30 AM PDT

    So after replaying ac4 again recently. I only now realize after all these years that Bonnet was executed. On his wiki page, it mentioned him leaving clues about his adventures in Santa Lucia for Edward to follow? Can anyone tell me where to find this location? I've been searching up and down the map as well as online yet I can't seem to find anything :/
