[Spoiler] A possible direction for the next Assassin's Creed

    Posted: 15 May 2021 09:20 PM PDT

After turning in the Order medallions to Hytham, I read the note on the desk from Hytham's mentor, Mentor Rayhan speaking of Basim's betrayal.

We see that Mentor Rayhan wants to speak in person to Hytham in two summers (2 years) around the time a usual Assassin's Creed comes out. Knowing that there will not be a new release for a couple of years, made me speculate as to what direction they may be heading in.

I believe the next Assassin's Creed follows Hytham and the development of the Hidden Ones in Persia. Seeing how Valhalla takes place before the original Assassin's Creed, I feel the next game will take place in between the two during the time leading up to Assassin's Creed. This will then lead us back into the Crusades.

I apologize if this has been speculated before, I will delete it if that is the case. I have heard the theories about the next game taking us into the third crusade again, which had me thinking of the note left by Mentor Rayhan.

Ac Valhalla deers keep headbutting my booty down a hill.

    Posted: 15 May 2021 07:07 PM PDT

Questions. Has anyone else who've played ac valhalla been randomly struck by male deers like in a headbutt. I be doing nothing and boom male deers 🦌 hits me to the ground and runs away. Is this supposed to be intentional since male deers are sometimes aggressive in real life?

Parkour is essential for an AC game

    Posted: 15 May 2021 12:18 AM PDT

Parkour keeps me engaged in any AC game. I think it's a very important feature of any AC game but unfortunately the 3 recent games are filled with blank, open spaces filled with nothingness and it's quite boring to endlessly travel by horse or ship. I personally feel AC can only work in big and dense cities.

Stealth wasn't even thought about in Valhalla

    Posted: 15 May 2021 08:56 AM PDT

I just wanted to say i see i a lot of people complaining about the meter being extra sensitive but i don't think that's really the issue with stealth here.

The monasteries are not designed for stealth at all, just take a look with how the guards are placed and how there is no cover around them or anyway to lure them away to assassinate with stealth.

Im 95% certain if the stupid meter wasn't broken I'd still get caught all the time due to awkward hiding spots and weird placement of guards.

The guards also don't move/arnt nearly as active compared to Origins and Odyssey, the fort lay out in those games really made stealth actually do able.

Also a tip for being stealthy, don't ever use secondary assassination ever, unless you know you are going to get caught or you are 100% sure everyone is far away from you and has your back turned, at least with my game i find secondary assassinations make the meter 10× sensitive and will automatically throw you into combat.

    Odyssey 2 or Kassandra journey?

    Posted: 15 May 2021 11:09 PM PDT

How would everyone feel about another game with Kassandra as the protagonist that continues or shows more her journey over the 2000+ years that she was alive? The Odyssey story was one of the best single player stories I've played and she is a great character. The isu hybrid (demigod) makes it even more interesting.

As a Greece setting was favoured by a large group of fans due to its beauty and history, the game could be set in Greece at a more recent time. Greece being multiple islands is also good for players that enjoy sea travel and naval combat. The game could also be somewhere else as she most likely travelled during her 2000+ years.

I just finished AC Unity + Dead Kings DLC and omg it was amazing!

    Posted: 15 May 2021 01:38 PM PDT

I never had a PS4 or Xbox One and didn't get a PC capable of running it until recently, so I played it on PC.

I did play more recent entries like Syndicate, Origins and Odyssey at a friend's and did play every older games on my PS3 at the time.

I have to say that Unity is now by far my favorite AC! Everything about this game is incredible. I'm aware that the game was vastly disliked at release due to game breaking bugs and poor performance, but it's been fixed now because I didn't encounter any of such bugs in my playthrough.

Revolutionary Paris is beautiful and so detailed it feels real, the crowds are so large and every NPC is doing something unique, it's incredible. So many interiors that are all somewhat unique looking. The dust and the dirt of a city that was tearing itself apart during those times. It just feels so real and immersive like no other AC before or after it.

And what of Franciade from the DLC, that place is so atmospheric, grim and depressing, I actually love it.

The story kept me hooked till the end, the Brotherhood are a bunch of jerks and Arno literally took the Creed's motto "everything is permitted" to the letter, pissing off so many of his fellow Assassins in his quest for vengeance, and the ending made me so sad for him.

The parkour system is so complex and pretty hard to master but once you do it feels so satisfying like no other entry in the series. I can cross pretty much the entire city without stopping running and without touching the ground, it feels amazing.

The combat is challenging and I like it this way. Enemies are challenging not because they are bullet (blade might be more appropriate) sponges like in Odyssey but because they know how to fight and anticipate your moves. I had to run from combat and hide so many times, I couldn't just counter and hit my way through dozens of enemies like in some other entries in the series, if I did that I'd actually die, and tools like smokebombs actually have a real use in this game if you don't want to die.

Even during assassinations you have to ruse because most targets don't have 5 or 10 but more like 50 or 60 soldiers to protect them all over the area, and if you just bust in sword in hand you're gonna die, you have to use opportunities to your advantage and sneak around until you can finally get to your target. Killing targets has never felt so satisfying.

I love Unity, I really do, and I wish it got more love from the community too.

Climbable trees in Valhalla are inconsistent

    Posted: 15 May 2021 03:50 PM PDT

You can climb some trees but others that look almost identical can't be climbed. The large trees should be climbable too imo.

New bug with teleportation and sickle.

    Posted: 15 May 2021 02:22 PM PDT

I've encountered new bug since Ive downloaded DLC. Sometimes, very rarely Eivor teleports himslef/herself few meters away, like im walking about to jump into the river and then bam im swimming already. Its like gaps you know, i played 30hours finished everything in Ireland and encountered this gap like 4/5 times, one just happened during river raid.

Olso its sucks how Ubi doesn't even normally checks new weapon type before realizing dlc. If you run and do light attack with sickle the game will bug and you'll hear endlessly sliding sound and see dirt particles. You can just slide normally and the sound will be fixed but the particles will stay, just reload and it will be fine.

P.S. is it just me or they changed and made Saint George's cape bigger and uglier? The shoulder patches look big and ugly as fuk.

Odyssey gold is on sale in psn for $24.99 and does still include the best ac game ever remaster for free

    Posted: 15 May 2021 10:02 AM PDT

Yes ac3 still is included. $25 seems to be the standard price now whenever ac odyssey gold (with season pass) is on sale. So that's a pretty sweet deal because ac3 is the best UbiSoft game of all time.

The core essence of every AC game

    Posted: 15 May 2021 12:19 PM PDT

It does not matter if you like the newer direction of AC games or you liked the older AC games,

I'm here to tell you that the core essence of every AC game is not parkour, not RPG elements, not Assassin protagonist, not modern day events, not desmond, not layla, not isu....

It was ....and always should be....

You... believing that character actually existed in history.. or that event actually happened in real life.. or that conspiracy theory from centuries ago was actually true.

This was how Assassin's Creed became what it is now and was a different genre of its own from the beginning.

And this is how I want my next AC games to be, embracing real life conspiracies and correlating with real-life events to actually make me question my philosophical views of my reality.

    Ireland spear lodged in stone

    Posted: 15 May 2021 09:13 PM PDT

I tried finding something about this on the internet but couldn't find anything anywhere, I was looking for artifices in Ireland when I came across a spear in a place called Asfinn in Connacht I could interact with, however it just says "the spear will not budge" I haven't encountered anything like it before and it has no marker on the map, anyone know what it's for?

I want some DLC that takes us to Scotland

    Posted: 15 May 2021 07:27 AM PDT

So, I know we just got Wraith of the Druids and we will be getting The Seige of Paris this Summer (my guess is near the start of the school year since Wraith of the Druids just came out), but this makes me wonder something. Are there any plans for us to travel to Scotland? I mean, does anyone know of any significant events taking place in Scotland in the late 9th - early 10th Century? Or anything that might take us there? We have a lot of mystical forces in this game, more so than in previous games in the series, but what would drive us to go to other locations beyond just Ireland and Paris, France?

If you had to give a subtitle to AC1, AC2, and AC3 all in the same vein as the other games, what would it be?

    Posted: 15 May 2021 11:17 AM PDT

Target switching when locked on broken after last update?

    Posted: 15 May 2021 06:29 PM PDT

Hey guys. I'm having an issue with the target lock system. On PC, you're normally able to switch between targets by either flicking your mouse into the target's direction, or by using the scroll wheel.

Currently I am completely unable to use mouse movement for target switching, only the scroll wheel which is less than preferable.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

I think soft should up the assassination missions in the next game.

    Posted: 15 May 2021 11:52 PM PDT

In all of the games when you assassinate a templar all you do is sneak through some building or chase them and press the square/X button. In the next game i would love assassinations to be more open, like hitman for example. Maybe let us poison the guys wine cellar? Start a fire as a distraction, maybe rig a giant stone to fall on there head. Maybe even convince someone else into killing them for you. However for this to work the game should not tell you that you can do these, in each mission there should be more than one of these aproaches and you can find them and do them.

Finding Big Sturgeon in AC Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids?

    Posted: 15 May 2021 11:49 PM PDT

I've been playing through Wrath of the Druids, and would like to keep my trend going with keeping the completion, but I'm having some troubles with one last mystery. One of the shrines requires 5 big Sturgeon. I had a hell of a time remembering how to fish (and not sure I'm still doing it right, but it's at least working), but the spot I think I go to find Sturgeon in Ireland only seems to have Burbel or Burbot, something like that. It's the Laffey River or whatever it's called, just north of the shrine. Is there a better spot to find these, or should I go back to England and find some?

Does anyone feel like AC 2 didn’t do a good enough job of showing the passage of time?

    Posted: 15 May 2021 11:56 AM PDT

I've only noticed recently that AC 2 takes place over the span of 25 years and it never felt like much time passed between the beginning and the end of the game. I feel like they definitely could've done a better job like showing characters age or gain gray hair as the game progressed kinda like how ezio grows a beard by the end. It would've been awesome seeing the world slowly change throughout the game.

    Series Replay: AC1 Review

    Posted: 15 May 2021 09:36 AM PDT

I started playing the Assassin's Creed games for the first time about 3 and a half years ago with AC1. I'd always been intrigued by them and I've watched a few of my significant others play various AC games over the years; I was particularly interested in Syndicate and Origins. Once I finally started playing them, I was hooked right off the bat; though I did skip AC3, Unity, and Rogue because I was less interested in them at the time. I've completed all the titles except the three I skipped.

Lately, I've been feeling nostalgic for the earlier games and Origins, and I've been curious about what Unity is like, given that so many people seem to really love it. So I've decided to play through the whole series except for Odyssey, because it's recent enough that I still remember it pretty well and the story was one of the least interesting ones for me. I will be reviewing each game on here as I complete them, because I know many of us forget aspects of the games over time and I thought it would be a fun way to share my experiences with y'all. Hope you enjoy!

    Overall Rating and Thoughts

I give AC1 a 5/10. It's an okay game that has a lot of unique aspects to it for the time it came out (and truly, even when I played it in 2017, it was still very intriguing), but there are also many flaws that are difficult to overlook. When I first started playing, I absolutely loved it and got into it right off the bat, but as you get into the middle of the game, it starts to get very repetitive and the frustrating parts of the game start to take a lot of the joy out of it. Overall, still a decent game that did a good job of setting the stage for what I consider one of the best video game series.

If someone wanted to start playing the series for the first time, I think AC1 is skippable. AC2 does a good enough job of filling in the biggest gaps of what happened in the first one (Wikipedia and such can fill in the rest, if desired) and there's not really any important content in AC1 that's worth playing through unless you're stubborn like I am and just want to have the full experience.

    Gameplay

    • Core gameplay is said to take about 10-15 hours and that feels about right for what it took me the second time around (first play through was probably closer to 25 because I was trying to be a completionist about it, but eventually gave up when it became too tedious)
    • Eagle vision doesn't really have much of a use and I went almost the entire game without using it
    • The console achievements are incredibly boring and/or difficult
      • There are 60 Templars to kill and 420 flags (nice) total to collect if you want to 100% the game...and there's no way to find them besides just running around forever down alleyways that all look the same and they don't even show up highlighted in eagle vision
    • The parkour is surprisingly good most of the time, with the exception of trying to climb closed balconies; this is one of the biggest draws of the game that kept it so interesting and fun despite its many flaws
    • Not being able to swim is the worst, especially on the one quest where you have to get the dude out on the boat in the harbor, ugh

    Stealth and Combat

    • The stealth aspect isn't really used all that much; when saving citizens, it's impossible, and even the big assassinations aren't stealthy at all
    • Running away from fights is difficult and irritating
    • The constant beeping when you're being watched or chased is annoying
    • Combat is pretty terrible; your only real chance of succeeding most of the time is relying heavily on counter attack (the animations of which mess up the camera angle most of the time), and the timing of it is quite finnicky
    • Unskippable dialogue when saving citizens is super annoying because the camera stays focused on them even if you try to move away, and then the camera pans to the nearest group that can help you avoid detection

    Navigation

    • The mini map is very well done; it gives you the most important information you need and it's very easy to find what you're looking for
    • The main map is kind of boring and the kingdom is a little confusing to traverse at times

    Appearance

    • The game suffers a bit from coming out as long ago as it did, so the characters' faces are not terribly pleasant to look at, but the clothing is very well done and they paid a lot of attention to detail with it when it comes to the named characters
    • The different areas of the game look slightly different from one another, but it's clear they didn't have a very powerful game engine back then like we do now, so putting in a lot of variety for the landscape was not really in the cards, but the attention to detail on the buildings makes up for it; I love seeing the fading Arabic script on some of the taller buildings and the cast-iron details in the window panes

    Sound

    • The sound is really well done and one of the aspects that helps the game be as immersive as it is
      • The clacking of your feet on the roof tiles is great
      • The mixture of English and Arabic/French is very cool (I speak a bit of Arabic and French, so that makes it extra fun to hear and understand some of it); fun fact--AlTaïr Ibn La Ahad means "The Bird, son of no one", and Al Mualim means "The Teacher"
      • The sound of water flowing and the noise of crowded areas with more people talking and babies crying were really nice touches
    • I'm not really a big fan of Desmond's voice actor, though it could be more to do with the direction he was given; I don't like how sort of forceful and arrogant he gets with his tone, and I wish they would have had a native Arabic speaker do AlTaïr's voice

    Quests

    • I like the variation of different ways to gain information, particularly eavesdropping; having to assassinate a bunch of guards for informants was easily the worst thing to have to do, however, as the risk of getting caught and the timed aspect were both very frustrating
    • All of the assassination targets kind of run together and feel pretty much the same
    • It's a very "lather, rinse, repeat" sort of feel that gets old pretty quickly

    Modern Day

    • While the graphics make interacting so closely with Lucy kind of awkward, the modern day aspect of the game is pretty well done
    • The information you gain throughout the modern day interactions keeps you wanting to learn more, and I like being able to snoop by reading the e-mails
    • You definitely have to suspend your disbelief quite a bit to get into the games; when I first started watching my ex playing AC1, I thought the Animus concept was the most ridiculous thing and didn't know how it would be possible to take the game seriously, but really it's enjoyable enough and the characters and story are interesting enough that it ended up not bothering me too much

    Story

    • The broad story lines for both modern day and historic are a solid start to the series and make you want to know more
    • The historic story line gets to be pretty repetitive and I had to sort of force myself to care and pay attention after the first few assassinations
    • I enjoyed the exploration of the theme "do the ends justify the means" and contemplating whether the assassins are really that different from the templars; one quote in particular from one the assassination targets stuck with me: "a violent evil for a greater good"

Is it bad that I enjoyed Bloodlines more than Odyssey and Valhalla combined?

    Posted: 15 May 2021 05:03 PM PDT

For those of you that don't know Assassins creed Bloodlines was a PSP game where you play as Altair after the events of AC1, there's plenty of gameplay on YouTube if you want to look into it, but I genuinely enjoyed it more than the past two titles. I despise odyssey with such a passion, its one of my most hated games of all time, I thought Valhalla was a step up from it but still not as good as origins or any of the prior assassins creed games. So anyway I played bloodlines the other week and beat it in a sitting or two and I enjoyed it so much more, it was short but sweet and filled the AC itch I had when wanting to play an AC game that I haven't before but also felt true to the originals. It's a super good follow up to AC1 and plays amazingly on the PSP despite its aged visuals, the boss fights were fun and unique, and I genuinely had a more enjoyable time with it than I did with the past two entries.
