Black Flag has some of the best dialog in the series. In disappointed the last couple of entries have somewhat unnatural character dialog.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 04:15 PM PDT

    *I'm disappointed

I played through Valhalla and decided to return to my favorite game in the series, Black Flag. I was surprised at how naturally the dialog flows. Each character has their own idiosyncrasies, they don't feel like copy and paste hand gestures, or body movements. Also the language they use sounds very archaic: "men of fortune," "stoke my jealousies," etc.

The characters in this game just feel more believable in their motives.

Valhalla players are receiving Godly Reward Pack

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 10:28 AM PDT

I'd love a feature where you can switch between two weapon loadouts seamlessly and both weapon slots show on Eivor's model. Way more immersive. Also a hood toggle separate from the cloak that doesn't hide weapons.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 02:11 PM PDT

Something I just realised is missing from Valhalla, that I thought we would have.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 03:10 PM PDT

Passive income, unless I am mistaken, is not present in AC: Valhalla. I'm sure this has been mentioned before. I had thought when the game was announced that with upgrading Ravensthorpe, each building and shop upgraded and built would offer some level of silver. Just like in the older games that had a base of operations.

Instead, you really don't get anything. I am sure silver isn't overly hard to come by, but I noticed especially with the new update, its not as easily found as before, especially if you are like me and don't have large patches of time to dedicate to the game. AC Brotherhood rewarded you for liberating Rome, but the town that you help build doesn't offer a single silver coin?

    Altairs outfit is useless

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 05:43 PM PDT

First issue is you can't upgrade or enhance it at all. Second issue is I figured "ya know what, maybe UBISoft threw it to us so we could use it as a transmog option on our chest piece. NOPE Third issue is you CAN NOT transmog other chests to look like the Altair outfit BUT you can transmog the Altair outfit to look like any other chest... Look UBISoft, wtf?? You gave us something that could have been an awesome transmog option and made it completely useless. Don't even get me started on how I have to go to the blacksmith and pay him every time I wanna do this. At least in AC Odyssey you could do it on the fly and paid NOTHING.

Assassin's Creed Knighthood potential 2022 Leak

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 11:59 AM PDT

I just found a new leak on playstationtrophies.org of all places. Link is here.

Remember to take with a grain of salt. Image for the post is here. This goes along with what J0nathan has been teasing and u/BrunoHM has been speculated. Text below.

No one's gotten the next setting right yet. It takes place right after the third crusade and has a bunch of small hub worlds. Think a cross between old AC and old Tomb Raider. There's a greek island, a city named ragusa, vienna, jerusalem, normandy, venice, and constantinople. It's super diverse, but each hub world is fairly small. You play as a knight and follow King Richard. Altair and Maria make appearances. Game is coming from Sofia who wanted to experiment with the series. Coming 2022.

EDIT: It appears this could be using a 3d model of Dubrovnik on sketchfab. Link here.

Northumbria is fun to chill in

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 07:58 PM PDT

Origins was fun at times to just ride around in my camel in the desert and chill out, just taking in the sights while I listened to music.

There wasn't an equivalent in Odyssey, and Valhalla seemed to be just a prettier Odyssey.

However, when I got to Northumbria, I got the same vibe as in Origins. The snowy hills, sheer cliffs overlooking the ocean just build up a vast world. This is really the only place in Valhalla so far that I feel I can just walk around with no objective. Does anyone else feel the same?

On the other head, I do wish that the open world wasn't as dead. I'd love something evil and challenging to jump out at me instead of wolves.

And when Halfdan asked me to light the brazier, and the ominous music started playing as I climbed up the tower, why couldn't something have happened? I wish that Halfdan would have started shooting arrows at me for killing Sigurd, which would have lead to an epic boss fight or something...

AC Valhalla stealth mechanics feel broken

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 10:39 PM PDT

I'm a veteran to the series. I've played the majority of the titles and loved most of them. I just started playing this game this month, and I've yet to really have a pleasurable experience when it comes to the stealth mechanics in this game. Imo, a unique and engaging stealth experience has obviously been one of the main reasons to play any AC game. But in Ac Valhalla, the stealth feels broken. Like, it literally feels as if it doesn't work correctly.

I was just playing and had an enemy get a glimpse of me, and I ducked behind a stone wall for cover. The attention meter proceeded to turn red after a solid second or two, even though I was completely behind the wall. It's as if the AI was seeing right through the wall.

The same thing happens when I try and hide in some tall grash or bushes. It's as if they don't actually really hide you at all, and enemies can still detect you.

It's also super frustrating that enemies can spot the smallest thing from a mile away. I don't know. In years passed, I loved the challenge of clearing bases undetected. But now it feels as if I'm battling with finicky stealth mechanics and it's just not as enjoyable. Not sure if this is an u popular opinion, just wanted to see if anyone else feels the same.

Is it possible to remove the bow/quiver from Connor’s back in AC3 Remastered?

I remember doing a trick for this on the original, but in the remastered version the quiver shows up on all outfits now so I'm not sure if such a trick exists.

Has anyone had success with this?

Missing the deductive elements of murder investigations

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 11:24 AM PDT

I'm playing the series in reverse, and getting to Syndicate and Unity, I'm realizing that the "murder investigations" really went downhill in the more recent games. The newer games basically just involve pressing "eagle vision", walking over to clues, and getting a story. There's really no challenge in it, other than somehow not seeing where a clue is. I was quite surprised to learn that there used to be a whole element of combining the clues to figure out who the killer was, and then having to use your own reasoning to figure out what happened, and who to accuse of the crime. It would be really neat to have that kind of logical deduction make into a comeback....

Ubisoft are certainly going to have games based around the remaining assassins with statues in the Assassin sanctuary under Monteriggioni

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 03:03 PM PDT

As you probably already know in AC 2 Mario introduces Ezio to theassassin sanctuary under the villa in Monteriggioni. In this sanctuary there are 7 statues of assassins and proto assassins who all played a role in the war with the templars/order of ancients. So far they have used 3 of these 7. These 3 being:

Altair Ibn La Ahad ,Syrian assassin part of the Levantine brotherhood (featured in Ac 1 and revelations)

Amunet, Egyptian assassin, with Persian and Greek ancestry, and co founder of the brotherhood itself along with Bayek in 44 BCE (featured in assassins creed Origins as a side character with a few playable parts)

Darius, Persian proto-assassin (featured in assassins creed Odessey Legacy of the first blade DLC as a side character)

There are 4 they are yet to use these being:

Qulan Gal, member of the Mongolian Brotherhood of assassins and played a role along with Darim Ibn La Ahad (son of Altair) in the assassination of Genghis Khan.

Wei Yu, Chinese proto-assassin active around 210 BCE and known for assassinating Emperor Qin Shi Huang with a spear.

Leonius, Active in the 1st century for the Roman Brotherhood and is known for his assassination of the tyrant emperor Caligula.

Iltani, Proto assassin mostly famous for her assassination of Alexander the great in the 4th century BCE.

I think these remaining four will be used in some form either as side characters or even being the main protagonist in future games as Ubisoft will hopefully want to expand on their stories like they did with Amunet and Darius in the previous 2 games. So over the next 4 or 5 games I think these 4 characters will make an appearance of some sort.

Feel free to expand on anything in the comments as well.

    First Crusade Next AC *Spoilers*

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 04:25 PM PDT

So I just finished all of Valhalla and I'm starting to think the First Crusade could be in the cards for Assassin's Creed next. Especially given that the end of the Order of Ancients hunt brings us face to face with the first to call himself "A Poor Fellow Soldier of Christ", which was the original name of the Templar Order which was founded in the eleventh century during the First Crusade by some chaps from Northern France, a region we will probably come in contact with in the Siege of Paris DLC. This will set up a true origin story as we watch followers of Alfred's Order journey with the Brothers Boulogne to the Holy Land bringing us full circle in the whole prequel series. This will give us a chance to make peace with the West for a time before we head East for a few journeys. Also the idea of hanging with Bohemond of Antioch, Baldwin of Bologne, Godfrey of Bouillon, and hopefully, Alexios Komnenos(I'd love to have a stop in Constantinople). This would be a great time to put the siege mechanics from Valhalla to the test and the dense ancient cities would make for a great opportunity to bring back social stealth. The moral ambiguity of the First Crusade should give the series an chance to try out some good storytelling as well.

[Valhalla] Does your charisma level come into the story in any way?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 08:52 PM PDT

After hitting the 100 hour mark, 100% clearing each area I came across and only just rescuing Sidgurd, I'm pretty much done with the game mentally.

I don't have it in me to fully clear the remaining areas, I'm happy with my gear and i just want to finish up by Mainlining the story.

The only thing I'm worried about is charisma. If I skip the last remaining flyters I won't be able to max it out.

I know it comes in to play in some side missions and even the odd main mission in some small way. My question is, without spoilers, is there a moment in the main quest where a maxed charisma score will allow you to get an ending/important quest outcome that you otherwise couldn't?

Do we count all 20 Orlog Tokens as canon Isu? Also a theory on one we’ve seen [minor Valhalla SPOILERS]

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 10:04 AM PDT

For starters, here's each of them:

    • Baldr's Invulnerability
    • Bragi's Verve
    • Brunhild's Fury
    • Freyja's Plenty
    • Freyr's Gift
    • Frigg's Sight
    • Heimdall's Watch
    • Hel's Grip
    • Idun's Rejuvenation
    • Loki's Trick
    • Mimir's Wisdom
    • Odin's Sacrifice
    • Skadi's Hunt
    • Skuld's Claim
    • Thor's Strike
    • Thrymr's Theft
    • Tyr's Pledge
    • Ullr's Aim
    • Var's Bond
    • Vidar's Might

Now, of course we've already seen or heard of nearly all these confirmed, including Baldr (Ment.), Freyja, Freyr, Heimdall, Hel (Ment.), Idun, Loki, Mimir, Odin, Skadi (Ment.), Skuld, Thor, Thrymr (Ment.), and Tyr, leaving only 6 we don't hear Isu mention outright, to my knowledge. (Bragi, Brunhild, Frigg, Ullr, Var, and Vidar)

This being a near-"yes", I wanted to also bring up a connected possibility that I wanna hear thoughts on. Beware Jotunheim spoilers ahead:

Mimir is shown as a giant head nested into one of Yggdrasil's branches in Jotunheim. Juno/Hyrrokin talks with Mimir before Havi shows up to hear of the plan for the Seventh Method.

Now, Mimir in Norse mythology is supposed to have been beheaded by Odin himself and placed into Yggdrasil to grant wisdom of the future to Odin. Seems lined up well enough.

But what if it wasn't Odin that beheaded Mimir, but rather a certain Unnamed Human Dissenter? One that loped off the crown of an important Isu with their own Scythe of Eden?

    What if Mimir is Saturn?

After his beheading and his daughter, Juno, obliterated the betrayer, it's reasonable the distraught Juno would do whatever she knew how to keep her father alive, this being the one that "worked", and also marking the first loved one Juno lost and attempted to revivify.

His cranial gigantism is partially explainable by Jotun-elder-largeness, but even in Assassin's Creed: Uprising #4, Saturn is huge!

I will admit upfront, Saturn's wiki page "Appearances" section states he appears as "Saetere" in Valhalla, which I didn't have an Isu name for yet. Does anyone know where this name pops up?

Anyways, just food for thought, lemme hear yours?

Why I think the next or one of the next AC games should be set during the Spanish Inquisition

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 10:19 AM PDT

A lot of you are wanting something Asian, such as India, Japan or China which is cool and I don't disagree, they'd be cool places to visit in the AC franchise but the place I really want is the time period featured in the Assassin's Creed Movie.

I think we could either play as Aguilar, Maria or a new person that knows them but wasn't present during the film. I think that the setting of the Spanish Inquisition could be a really good setting especially for the AC fans that absolutely love the first game and the Ezio trilogy. If it were this seeming then it could start while we're actually in the brotherhood, as an already established Assassin like Altair. We could play strictly to the rules of the creed, have 1 hidden blade and actually be an Assassin and not half something else. This could be a story of an important thing that happened to the brotherhood. I really believe this would be a great setting but only if it's more like the AC games that aren't RPG's and more like the older mechanics but more modern and with more to do.

But yeah, I know this will never happen lol and I know a lot will disagree but this is just what I really wish they'd do, actually make it feel like a full on AC game again, would you like to see this setting or something else other than the 3 Asian settings most of you want to see?

    A lot of people are nitpicking the previous three AC games, here is what I think;

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 07:48 PM PDT

I think people are quite ignorant when criticising a Ubisoft game or part of their games these days. In my opinion Ubisoft games are not about quality at all anymore and they haven't been so for a while, they've been more about quantity and keeping players busy for longer, which subsequently increases the chances/opportunities for those players to spend more money in-store and/or on DLC's. Thats my first point. And disclaimer; by saying that their games are not about quality does not mean they are bad, they just aren't Witcher 3 or Ghost of Tsushima levels of quality. If Ubisoft really wanted to, I am sure they could deliver, but that is not their aim anymore, which leads me to point 2.

Ubisoft prioritise profit margins over anything else now. They are moving to make their organisation even larger and more profitable, they are pumping out games more quickly. Additionally, their in-game stores are fleshed out with a lot of totally random content that could be seen as lore-breaking (quantity vs quality) because again, money, if its shiny the player will buy it.

In my opinion, they've drawn on certain parts of games like Elder Scrolls Online or Fallout76 (the in-game store, the randomness of items and festivals or events which lure players in and keep them playing) and Call of Duty (seasonal content which makes the single player game last longer for players whilst releasing more items locked behind macro-transactions). Ubisoft ultimately have purposefully made the games longer to achieve this. Also again, they have chosen quantity over quality, so of course your favourite elements of previous titles begin to fade away/disappear, of course these games "drag on" offering "boring conclusions" to the stories etc.

Unfortunately, as long as macro-transactions (I refuse to call them *micro) continue to be allowed and therefore prioritised, I do not see quality games coming out of Ubisoft.

I don’t care about aesthetics beyond how realistic and immersive they are

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 04:34 AM PDT

I'd wager that I'm in the minority here but I just have no desire to make my character/boat/settlement look cool. I don't care about tattoos or outfits or ship design. I've never bothered transmogging my gear because I don't care what it looks like. I guess I might do it to make it look more realistic so I can facilitate the "suspension of disbelief" but I've never bothered to do that. I certainly would never pay money for a cool looking horse or something. I always cringe when the reward for a quest is some aesthetic upgrade instead of something you can actually use or do. It always seems like such a cop out.

The only time I really do appreciate design upgrades is as a visual signal that you're leveling up (e.g. ship in Odyssey looking better as you gradually upgrade it) But for me, the best aesthetics are the ones you don't even see because you're so immersed in the world.

This is NOT judgement of people who care about this stuff. It's great that you can draw greater appreciation from the game for the different aesthetic options. You probably enjoy the games more than I ever could! I'm just always internally surprised to see a post about "which outfit do you like the best". Or when I see a (very talented!) user post a picture that they spent hours on of their favorite character and I think to myself "oh wow. Some people REALLY appreciate what the characters look like". The biggest example is when I see people talking about BUYING aesthetic upgrades from the store! That one is not just surprising but shocking!

I guess I'm just wondering if I'm the only weirdo who cares solely about the sense of realism and progression and not the looks.

P.S. the automod on this sub is too restrictive and hampers discussion by making it too hard to post. Let the up/down voters decide which posts they like/dislike!
