Quick Valhalla Tip: use the camera for scouting

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 07:56 PM PST

There have been tons of times I needed to find my way into a room but not have any idea how to do it. I quickly learned that a lot of those rooms if there's a small window or a large enough crack in the wall (that Eivor themself can't fit through) you can enter camera mode, slip the camera through that gap, and scope out the inside. I've found alternate doors, breakable walls, one time I was able to see that there was an oil jar next to a breakable wall that if I threw a torch in at just the right angle I'd be able to set them off.

It also is a huge help when navigating underwater, as it freezes the game so you can check where you're going without losing oxygen.

This might be a common knowledge type thing by now, but if I help one person then it's a win for me.

Change Your Camera Settings to make the game more immersive

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 01:59 PM PST

    https://imgur.com/a/nVb5Oxl

This game has a definite God of War vibe that wasn't properly capitalized on by the default camera looking more like an MMO camera

If you enjoyed God of War and how immersive it was, change your camera settings. After using this new camera, it's criminal the game wasn't launched like this. It makes the game feel 1000x more immersive.

    To Change Settings

    1. Search for ACValhalla.ini
    2. Scroll to FOVScale and change the value to 0.45000

The game takes on a COMPLETELY different feel with this simple change.

You can change the value to anything you'd like, I settled personally on 0.45 as it felt the most immersive

Why The Next Gen AC Should Be In NYC

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 08:12 PM PST

Why The Next Gen AC Should Be In NYC

    Where: New York City

    When: 1890-1930 (40 years)

Why: At this time NYC was going through one of the biggest changes in world city history. The skyline changed incredibly within those 40 years. Take a look at these pictures.

1876 (Yes before my time frame but for context) & 1913 - Looking from Brooklyn

    1931 - Looking from Brooklyn

1908 - Looking from New Jersey

1921 - Looking from New Jersey

With next gen hardware and a next gen engine for AC, Ubisoft could show off their engine and it's "evolution" feature which could should how the map could change exponentially, either in real-time or in chapters (like Mafia II). Also the history and art team could have a fantastic time with all the photographs and data that is available. The team could come up with a staggering and accurately close interpretation of New York City. Also this would be a breath of fresh air after the last three mainly country AC games. This would take the series back it's roots with a massive city to explore.

I've been thinking about this in my head for a while and will write more here overtime probably, but lets discuss below. What do ya'll think of my idea? Do you like it or dislike it, let me know.

I’ve played all the games and I love all the games and a replay has shown me why...stealth.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 05:57 PM PST

So I spent all of 2020 playing through all the AC games. I fell in love from the jump. I loved Altair, Ezio, Connor, all the way to Eivor. The games all hold a special place for me.

My wife recently had a partial hysterectomy so I was going to be in the waiting room for most of the day. I got Black Flag and Rogue for the switch just so I could have something to do. I now remember why I fell in love with the series.

I thoroughly enjoy mapping out my target and surroundings to find the best assassination method. The stealth and the planning, just in Black Flag, is fun for me.

Now I have also enjoyed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla so this isn't a bash on the new and love on the old post that is common around here. This is a "I now remember why I fell in love with this series" post.

I could keep going but I'll just end up repeating myself. So yeah, I miss the focus on stealth but I also like where the series is going.

I wish there was no store

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 01:56 AM PST

Started getting into Valhalla, I wasn't a fan at first but it's growing on me, each time I play this is on my mind. Every time I look at the store in these games it just makes me think how much better the game would be if all the custom stuff they sell on the store was in-game.

Anyone could say what they wanted of the game but there would be so many customize options you couldn't deny the games that. It was the same with odyssey, lots of cool looking stuff stuck behind a paywall. I get the devs need money for their hard work but I feel like it would sell more copies to justify that and feel jam packed with great stuff.

    What do you guys think?

What would a game where you’re a lifelong Templar look like and how would the gameplay be different from other Assassin’s Creed games?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 11:36 PM PST

Rogue's gameplay is the same as the games that came before it (stealth, assassinating, etc.) supposedly because Shay is an Assassin turned Templar. If we didn't get a game where you truly get to experience being a Templar from Rogue, then what would that game look like?

[Spoiler] just beat ac origins and have a couple questions please.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 02:50 PM PST

    1. why doesn't this game FEEL like an ac game. If it was advertised as just an egyptian freeroam game I wouldn't tell the difference

    2. Why did aya, a half Greek half egyptian use the Italian rest in peace that is so familiar from ezio

    3. Do the dlc at least make it feel like you've started the creed by maybe adding robes with the beak on the hood or maybe some resemblance of the creeds logo

The most assassin thing you have to do for me is the present day where the cave is full of troops (with bows of all things) everything else can just be fought through with downside as far as I could tell

The Next Step for AC games: HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 06:23 PM PST

I think the next game should cover the early Holy Roman Empire and their relationship with the Catholic Church. We can focus on the early formation of the Templars and how the Hidden Ones splintered and lost control as the HRE expanded. Ubi could either just jump right in it or have the next character follow the marriage of Princess Gunhilda of Denmark to Henry III of the HRE. She was the daughter of Cnut the Great, who basically took over England and Scandinavia after Eivor and King Aelfred's generation lost power. I believe a few popes mysteriously died during this time too, so we could see a return to Rome. With DLC about the Great Schism and go back to Constantinople too. I dunno, this probably won't happen, but I just want to get back on track with the Assassins v. Templars storyline.

I really don't like Ubisoft putting "Ezio's family" theme into every Assassin's creed now

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 06:35 AM PST

I understand that Ezio's family is an amazing song and I love it so much however I really hate that Ubisoft has started putting it in later Assassin's creed games like Origins or Vahalla games where Ezio isn't even born yet. For me this song works so perfectly because it plays after Ezio and his brother talk about how great their life's are and how they never want it to change however when the music comes in you sense a somber tone because you know things will change for Ezio. I don't like that they basically made that the Theme song to Assassin's creed which in my opinion it never was it was just for Ezio Auditore and no one else and I really really don't like them putting this song into other games because even though I love it "Ezio's family" is for EZIO and is not the theme song for the Assassin's or for Assassin's creed

I Miss Multiplayer in Older AC Games

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 12:17 PM PST

I'm a huge fan of AC, been playing since the first one. I bought almost all of them, expect the newest one. Yet, I always miss the old multiplayer sessions in AC Brotherhood/Black Flag, etc. Some of those game modes were so much fun, like manhunt or capture the flag. Character progression was also pretty neat as you unlocked the levels through prestige! I know a lot has changed since then, but a part of me hopes it comes back.

Reshade preset for AC: Black Flag

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 10:34 AM PST

In case someone's still playing AC: Black Flag and looking for something new in terms of visuals, i've made Reshade preset for it. Was searching for some overhaul for the game but didn't find suitable to me so decided to make my own. Tested it in cities, in a jungle and in a sea (day and night). Of course, in combat too. No annoying blur effect, no color filters, just some contrast, saturation, brightness and sharpness. You can see screenshots here: https://imgur.com/a/znTp2UC
If you'd like to install preset, you'll first need to download Reshade. It's easy - download from official website and install into your game directory (the one with game's exe file inside). Then download my preset (https://filebin.net/vngu7k20no22i5ek), place it in the same directory and overwrite the file.

My opinion about the future of AC

    Posted: 24 Feb 2021 12:20 AM PST

(Spoilers) Regarding Dr.Victoria Bibeau in the books/Odyssey.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 03:26 PM PST

OK, so I'm currently going through The Last Descendants trilogy in audiobook form. I'm on the middle book where Dr. Victoria Bibeau is introduced and has a very noticeable French accent. I've also been replaying some of the older games on new game plus in this case Odyssey and when it got to the first modern day section my head blew up. I totally forgot that Layla's friend that she ends up killing is Dr. Victoria Bibeau and the biggest reason I never made the connection was that she has no French accent. Does anyone know why in a span of two years Victoria went from a heavy French accent in the books to no accent whatsoever in the game? or is this just an oversight/mistake? which honestly seems like a big one. Either way the books are really good and I love the way they include lore from all the different video games and media.

Is there any point to 100% synchronisation in Brotherhood?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 01:01 PM PST

I've seen conflicting things online about what you get and at what percentage sync, so can someone just lay it out straight on what you need to achieve and what you get at each percentage please?

As a general rule I'm not a fan of the idea of railroading players into completing a sequence in a certain way, or failing that, making them have to play each sequence twice to unlock all the content rather than just letting them do things their own way the first time but whatever. Don't get me wrong, if they were all additional objectives related to the sequence that would be fine, but stuff like take no damage, kill X with weapon Y and time limit stuff just feel a bit shoehorned and arbitrary.

But yeah, mainly bothered about making sure I get all the story, not really bothered about any extra weapons or cheats and stuff. Thanks.

    An issue with Valhalla Geography

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 09:56 AM PST

Why is Northumbria snowy all the time? Faravid mentions the winter coming soon so he wants to fight the Picts before that. But it's the north of England and even Scotland doesn't have snow lying around all year. I feel this just followed the logic that North = Cold

I am considering not to finish Odyssey. Would I miss out on a lot of good story?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 04:03 PM PST

I've been playing Odyssey for about 35 hours now and by now I just really do not enjoy playing it anymore. I've even taken a month-long break during uni exams and picked it up again today to see if I'd enjoy it more now, but it still really felt like I was just doing endless chores without proceeding despite finishing a few quests. Apparently, I'm about 40% done with the main storyline. I really want to start playing Valhalla soon, so now I am considering to not finish Odyssey. I'veplayed all other games in the series, but this one really doesn't do it for me.

So, my question is, do you think I should push through and finish Odyssey? Would I miss interesting story bits regarding Assassin's/Templars/the old gods? If so, maybe you have some hints how I can make it feel less like work?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 07:30 PM PST

So I bought the season pass to ac odyssey and I'm going to start Fate of Atlantis. I'm a little confused on how to start the dlc? Should I take the shortcut route, Im level 38 and would go up to 52, or should I try to figure out how to naturally start the dlc?
