Assassin's creed Valhalla is the 2nd best selling game of January 2021

I wish the people in the settlement had more missions associated with them

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 03:00 PM PST

Maybe not to the extent of AC3's Homestead Missions, as those always struck me as more of a chore than anything else, but one mission for each person to get to know them once you've built their building would be nice.

So far I've only come across missions for Petra and her brother in their hunting cabin and the baker guy, and I just think it would be nice to get to know more of the other people walking about.

Yule Season coming to AC Valhalla

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 01:55 PM PST

I hope the next AC isn’t rushed..

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 10:08 PM PST

Valhalla is a good game with a lot going for it. I don't regret my purchase at all. However, it is very clearly rushed. There are still many bugs, clipping, AI issues, janky animations, lack of detail in textures but also in simple things like creatures blinking and wolf mounts being a horse reskin complete with hoof sounds.

There are many, MANY issues like this and while only one or two of those isn't a big deal they start to add up and hurt the experience after awhile. Valhalla needed more time.

Now the devs worked their butts off and what they accomplished with the limitations placed on them is pretty amazing. Yet if they had more time imagine better animations, no clipping, improved textures few bugs ect. That's what I am hoping for.

Look, companies want to make money and they want to make it as quickly as possible. I get it.. But I still have a naive hope that someday we will see an AC RPG with all the trimmings and no rushing. These games could be at the top of the list for best open world rpgs if only the talented devs were allowed the time necessary for that achievement. Who knows right?

Is AC Valhalla repetitive right after playing origins and odyssey?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 05:04 PM PST

I've just finished playing Odyssey and Origins (in that order). I didn't love Origins, the story felt kinda weak and all the quests/grinding just to level up got repetitive. Plus there was a lot of hack and slash, not the sneaky assassins stuff from AC3.

Trying to figure out if I dive into Valhalla or take a break from AC. Is Valhalla different enough to origins/odyssey? Is it a bit more classic AC?

According to Jorraptor, there is a large update for Valhalla coming next week (9GB). Likely to include the river raids. But will it also have transmogrify for gear??

    I may have misjudged origins

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 09:56 PM PST

I got so frustrated because so many side missions were boring but the higher level you get the more exciting they are look at like my last 2 post one was hours or a day ago about me being frustrated with the game now level 28 and I admit it's grown on me the side missions are so much better and fun

What breed of Eagle is in the AC 1 intro

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 08:30 PM PST

The reason I'm asking is because I saw that in the Valhalla store they have a bald eagle. I assume that the eagle in AC 3 is a bald eagle but that just got me wondering.

Longtime fans on AC: Valhalla, Where Does this Fit in With Quality?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 07:58 PM PST

    Hi Friends,

I've been a fan of the AC series for a long time and really enjoyed Odyssey, completing all of the DLC and side missions.

I've just been able to secure a PS5 (keep trying friends!) and see that Valhalla has a price drop, but... people seem to really be not liking it! What do you think of it? As a fan of the series is this a skip year or a must play?

Sorry if this fits in under frequently asked questions! Genuinely interested in hearing what fans have to say

Does not acquiring man’s best friend from the settlement affect the 100% trophy?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 01:51 PM PST

I've noticed that I didn't receive it well long after completing that quest, im not really bothered that I haven't received it, but a bit concerned that it'll affect the completionist trophy. Does anyone know?

In assassin's creed 3, after haythem conceives conner, why do you still play as haythem for another mission, this makes no sense as we should have immediately been playing as Kaniehtí:io and not haythem, can anyone explain this?

It makes no sense to me

According Valhalla: Let's talk about the soundtrack

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 06:38 AM PST

This post was originally made a month ago; but since I have included youtube links for the different soundtracks, it took a week for mods to approve it; therefore I got no reaction or discussion. That's why I am reposting it this time with only text. To get the point of my post, I strongly encourage you to find 'Assassin's Creed Valhalla Unreleased Fornburg Music' on YouTube, as it revolves mainly around that track.

    ------------

Don't get me wrong, when I saw that my two favorite AC composers (Sarah Schachner and Jesper Kyd) would join forces and make music to back Eivor's adventures I was really excited.

And I must say, they lived up to the hype. HOWEVER...

Don't you guys think the series lack severely a... memorable recurrent theme just like Ezio's family was to AC II? Even outside of the series, something like a Witcher theme in the games, or Harry Potter's intro music, if you know what I am talking about.

I haven't beaten the full game yet, as I had to get back to my life duties and leave gaming behind; but I've put over 110h now in Valhalla and I can definitely tell there was maybe a 'too many chefs in the kitchen' situation creating a situation where the game lacks a proper soundtrack identity (no Eivor theme?!)

I started to realize this after finding on Youtube the music that played in Fornburg when you first sail back home at the beginning in Norway. I remember that scene perfectly mostly THANKS to the musical impact of the Fornburg theme made by Sarah Schachner, which is actually an unofficial and unreleased track I'll have you know. Hell, even the Orlog got monumental vibes, and will always remind me of my candlelit games with strangers on the road.

To me THIS was such a wasted potential right here. This theme alone could have been either Valhalla's main theme or even Eivor's. It could have been played, re-used, remixed throughout the game to emphasise emotionally certain scenes or create an actual game identity through sound. Remember Origins? Then you guys know what I mean by a recurring theme ; it was done perfectly in Bayek's story.

Instead, due the nature of the gameplay spread through leveling zones, the music in this game feels about the same at times. Just some music put together for different locations that play over and over. If you listen to them individually, they are definitely great pieces of music with great ambience, but put them together in the same sequel and you can really start to see there is little cohesion and too much repetition (I must have heard Kingdom of Wessex at least four times in a row at some point during the story, that is not a good way to implement such a good soundtrack).

Besides, I have noticed at the end of each quest-line when Eivor has successfully managed to create an alliance, that same happy track plays over - every.single.time. And I could swear there were moments during cinematics or when entering a new location where the same music from other regions was playing or worse, nothing was playing at all (looking at you Vinland). It feels like there weren't just enough tracks to cover the length of the game Ubisoft came up with, which makes the whole point of exploration and new areas completely dull, and other important cinematics don't have any delivery. It seems like AC 2's OST on its own had the same number of tracks if not more than Valhalla. And I firmly believe a reason why the the Ezio trilogy brought so much success to the AC franchise was thanks to the beautiful music Jesper did for those games. It is no surprise Ezio's Family became the main theme of the series in the next games, because they just couldn't come up with anything powerful and inspiring. And now that Jesper is back, they don't fully take advantage of his writing skills (as well as Sarah's) to make this game memorable. Just, why?

The material was there, but I think Ubisoft should have chosen either Jesper or Sarah to create music for this game. I don't regret having them both working on this, as I love their production. But unfortunately it made the game's identity a bit too confusing (music-wise); coupled with bad audio mixing and pacing throughout the game, which I think is a shame. I think the game's unnecessary length might also had impact on this; it seems there clearly aren't enough themes and ambient songs to cover this immense land of England, and the few good songs we have are bound to repeat themselves throughout the gameplay.

What would you think of an AC game where more focus is given on stealth rather than combat? (Like Hitman 2016, Hitman 2, and Hitman III)

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 10:16 AM PST

In this game, the massive open-world gameplay will still be there. However, you're encouraged to use stealth as much as possible. In most of the recent AC games, you can easily choose to bypass stealth and rely on your own combat skills to simply overpower the enemies. The player character is just so much more powerful than the enemies. You could easily go on a free roam rampage like you would in GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2. In the recent hitman games, it's basically impossible to go in guns blazing as if you were John Wick. Agent 47 isn't as agile or durable compared to the main characters in the AC games. You need to choose your battles wisely and use patience rather than overwhelming the enemies through sheer force.

What if an AC game did this? Combining the impressive open-world gameplay with the stealth and mission stories/opportunities in Hitman. You would be punished for going in loud and you'd be forced to think like a true assassin. I'd honestly love it. The free-roam aspect combined with the numerous opportunities provided by the hitman games would be incredible. It would truly feel like a stealthy assassination type of game with endless possibilities.

    *Potential Spoiler* Valhalla 100% assistance

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 03:54 AM PST

Looking for some assistance in figuring out what I am missing towards 100%. I am currently stuck at 91% completion, and I'm having a hard time figuring out why. I've completed:

The entire campaign, England/Asgard/Joten All mythical weapons All wealth, mysteries, and artifacts in all 5 maps (except the glitched fabric standing stone, so only 1) The entirety of the hunter deliveries All except 3x fishing deliveries due to fish spawn glitches All orlogg players

What am I missing that is keeping me from that last 9%?

I Want The old Montreal Team Back

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 09:37 PM PST

I Want The old Montreal Team back, Why Ubisoft ? Quebec team Has Made The Worst Games And The Other team makes Assassin's Creed that Aren't Assassin's Creed. I Miss The Old Team, I Miss The Cities And Parkour and the Combat, what Happened To Ubisoft, why Was The Team Disbanded ? They Made So Much Great Games, Assassin's Creed 1, 2 , Brohood, Revelations. I Mean What Made Ubisoft To Make Assassin's Creed Like This, I hate The New Ones Odyssey And Valhalla, I mean They're Fun But No Assassins.
