ASSASSIN'S CREED MARATHON MEGATHREAD & FAQ

We hope you're excited as we are for this year's Assassin's Creed Marathon event! You may have seen the news that Assassin's Creed Valhalla just moved up it's release date by a week. In addition to answering some frequently asked questions, and spilling the beans on this year's giveaway, we're also going to explain how we're adapting our schedule to accommodate the new release date.

As always, you can check this post for links to every daily post we make after the Marathon begins on September 11th! If you still have any burning questions, drop us a comment and a Marathon Mentor will answer.

    THE UPDATED SCHEDULE

In order to keep our Marathon start date of September 11th, and conclude the Marathon the day before Valhalla's new launch, we're making a couple of last minute changes. We've dropped our break days, merged a couple sequences, and sadly, removed the Assassin's Creed movie from the schedule. (Feel free to watch it anyway of course!)

To see the new breakdown for all 60 days of the marathon, you can view the Complete Schedule here.

    GIVEAWAY DETAILS

Three lucky winners will receive a copy of The Art of Assassin's Creed Valhalla!

To be eligible for this year's giveaway, you must comment on at least 24 total threads across all games, including one thread from each game. (DLCs don't count as separate games.) Replies to other comments count as well. Engaging in discussion with other Marathoners is strongly encouraged!

Your account must be older than the Day 01 post of this year's Marathon, and you will have to confirm your participation at the end of the Marathon by commenting on the final thread using a keyword given in the post.

Extremely low-effort comments may lead to exclusion from the giveaway. (A good rule of thumb: if your comment would fit in a tweet, it's too short.)

Special thanks to the Assassin's Creed Community Team from Ubisoft for providing copies of The Art of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and making this giveaway possible!

Please be aware that the prizes won't be shipped out immediately, but we're hoping to get them to you ASAP.

    HOW DOES THE MARATHON WORK?

The Assassin's Creed Marathon is a community-wide subreddit event, where each day, we play a sequence (or a few quests!) of an Assassin's Creed game. Beginning on September 11th, we will be posting daily discussion threads featuring fan art, wallpapers, helpful tips, suggested side quests and more. Participating in the discussion by commenting on the threads will make you eligible for an official giveaway of Assassin's Creed Valhalla goodies! It's a fun, advent calendar-style way to revisit your favorite games and count down to the new release.

    HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?

Participating in the Marathon is simple -- leave a comment on the daily threads posted to the subreddit and discuss your opinions on the sequence! That's all there is to it.

    WHO ORGANIZES THE MARATHON?

The Marathon is organized every year by a team of volunteer Marathon Mentors, made up of Assassin's Creed fans and subreddit users just like you. You can recognize Mentors by their special flair featuring the golden Marathon crest, which looks like an Assassin emblem with wings.

[Spoilers] Moorish Iberia and the Inquisition - Least Expected Setting Discussions

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 09:00 AM PDT

A common trait Assassin's Creed groups have is the constant theorizing about future settings, because historical tourism is one of the best parts of the series. This series of posts will act as a counter to my Mildly Obscure setting discussions, but rather than looking at a single point, I will be taking a broad setting that is popular and looking at several potential settings to explore within it. Today's setting is Medieval Iberia.

    Caliphate of Cordoba

The Berber Revolt was the beginning of the end for the Umayyad Caliphate which would fall to the Abbasids in 750. The ethnic Berbers and Syrian Muslims that had entered Spain were collectively known as Moors by the Christians and they dominated the Iberian Peninsula. Surviving members of the Umayyad dynasty went on to rule the Emirate of Cordoba but bowed to the Caliph of the Abbasids in Baghdad for nearly 200 years. During this time in Northern Africa, new branches of Islam were occurring.

For those unaware, there was a split in Islam after Muhammad's death in 632ce, as he left no male heir to his united empire. Thus the question became who should lead? The father in law and close friend of Muhammad, Abu Bakr; or his cousin and son in law, Ali? This split Muslims between Sunnis who followed Abu Bakr and Shi'a who followed Ali. While Abu Bakr became the first caliph, Ali did eventually become the 4th. The Umayyads and Abbasids were both Sunnis but the Abbasids claimed they were descendants from Muhammad and used that as a way to gain Shi'a favor. Shiites do not use the term caliph for their leaders as Sunnis did, instead calling them Imams while Sunnis use the term imam to be a religious leader like a priest or rabbi. Most of the Shi'a today are known as "Twelvers" meaning basically that they believe that there were 12 imams who were divinely ordained as spiritual successors to Muhammad and the last imam, Hujjat-Allah ibn al-Hasan is the Mahdi, a man who will rule all of Islam for several years before the day of Judgement. In this time, a branch of Shiites moved away from the other Twelvers, believing Isma'il ibn Jafar to have been the true 7th imam instead of his younger brother. This belief gave birth to Isma'ilism that contained several tariqas which are different "paths" or schools of thought on spirituality and mysticism. The Fatimid Dynasty began growing in Northern Africa with Isma'ilism at its core, and in 902 would claim to be a caliphate with the intention of conquering the Abbasids. Within a few years, they'd establish an imamate in Egypt which became home to the leading path of the Nizari. Around 1060ce a young man named Hassan i-Sabbah would go to Cairo to learn from the Nizari and brought it back with him to Persia where he founded the castles at Alamut and Masyaf and created the real Assassins. Even after the order's real collapse in the 13th century, the Nizari Isma'ili tradition lived on and today holds the imam of the Nizari holds his seat in Lisbon, Portugal.

During the early rise of the Fatimids, Abd al-Rahman III became the emir of Cordoba in 912ce, attempting to not stir the pot with the Christian Kingdoms to the north, he subdued several rich rebellions for the next 16 years as emir. While dealing with these rebels, his alliance with the Abbasids had the Fatimids looking at invasion of al-Andalus, after having taken western Ifriqiya which were large Berber trade partners. In 929 he declared himself Caliph of the Cordoba Caliphate. He had already led several battles against the Northern Christian kingdoms between 912 and 928. The Kingdom of Leon gained a new king in 932 after 8 years of internal struggle of succession leading to the rise of Romero II. Romero first besieged Toledo and captured it with Madrid. al-Rahman quickly turned his loss into several victories against Romero who was forced to retreat back to Leon by 934. In 937 he captured Zaragoza from its Muslim leader that allied with Romero. In 939, Fernan Gonzalez of Castille worked with Romero to ferment turmoil in al-Rahman's ranks, nearly costing him his life at the battle of Simancas. Despite the rebellion within the moors ranks, the Christians were unable to push further due to internal conflicts of their own, and by 956 had entered a civil war. Al-Rahman used this to his advantage bringing in emissaries from Barcelona and enemies of Leon to Cordoba plotting to overthrow the new king of Leon. Abd al-Rahman III died in 961 leaving the caliphate to his son, Al-Hakam II, and while both brought a golden age of architecture, art, and science to Hispania, it would quickly decline with the caliphate.

    Reconquista

The death of Al-Hakam II in 976 was the first nail in the coffin for the Cordoba Caliphate. His heir was 10 years old when he died, leading to weak and ineffectual rule dominated by his advisors, and the weakness continued along with several more rulers until 1009 when the Caliphate devolved into the Fitna (civil war) of al-Andalus. During this, the Hammudid dynasty of Morocco, descended from Idris I invaded al-Andalus. The Caliphate of Cordoba collapsed completely between 1031 and 1056, leaving Taifas or Muslim principalities in its place.

Badajoz, Toledo, and Zaragoza were the strongest of the Taifas, but the rest could not stand up against the raids of the Christian Kingdoms, initially demanding tributes and later outright conquering them. By 1086, leaders of the Taifas began asking the Moroccan Almoravid Dynasty for help. At this point, Alfonso VI of Leon and Castille had taken Toledo. Prior to this, the Castillian Knight El Cid had become a local warlord, taking contracts on behalf of the moors against the Christians due them exiling him. Yusuf ibn Tashfin entered al-Andalus in 1086 and swiftly defeated Alfonso VI at the battle of Sagrajas with the assistance of El Cid. I July of 1087 Alfonso recalled El Cid to Leon who refused to help the Christian king and returned to Zaragoza. For the next 3 years, Zaragoza remained neutral as all other Taifas were conquered by Yusuf. Finally, in 1090 El Cid officially began to work for Alfonso but in reality, had no allegiance. Using a joint Christian and Moorish army he conquered the Taifa of Valencies between 1090 and 1092 and immediately began a siege of the city itself. In 1094, he succeeded and ruled Valencia himself, with a city filled with both Christians and Moors. Yusuf, however, would lay siege to this city in 1099 where El Cid would die, cementing Yusuf's claim over all Moorish territory except Toledo. Yusuf and his son would continually attempt to besiege Toledo for the next 9 years until 1108 when they attacked Ucles instead, killing Alfonso's son. With secession and Castilian politics in peril, in 1109 they attacked Toledo again, still failing to take it, but killing Alfonso in the process. In 1119 the Knights Templars were officially founded and headquartered on Jerusalem. The Crusades had been in full swing for about 20 years and by 1128 the Knights Templars moved from just being a military order in the Holy Land to also move to Spain. The popes would use their involvement as a way of showing them fighting a two-front war and officially declared the Christian Reconquista of Iberia to be a holy crusade. This was used as more propaganda. This also allowed for Templars to build more castles and expand their banking systems. By this point, the Assassins were firmly rooted in the Levant and the Hidden Ones had likely moved to the peninsula as well. Based on the movie, in 1492 the Assassins seemed to be somewhat isolated from other cells that had advanced their traditions. This however is contradicted by other games that had Ezio go to Spain and was in contact with Spanish Assassins.

Regardless, the Almoravid Dynasty in al-Andalus did not last long. By 1120 Morocco had been taken over from within by the Almohad Caliphate stretching its way to Egypt, and by 1130 it rooted out all Almoravid power structures in Iberia and replaced it with their own. The Almohads kept up a constant back and forth for the better part of a century famously defeating Alfonso VIII at the Battle of Alarcos in 1195. Alfonso VIII did not sit idly by and formed a coalition of Castille and Toledo, Navarre, Leon, Portugal, and Aragon and broke the Caliph's power in Andalusia during a series of battles in 1212. Between this and a series of civil wars in Africa after the death of Abu Ya'qub Yusuf II in 1224 the Caliphate collapsed once more into taifas. By the 1260s just about everything except Granada had fallen in the Kingdom of Aragon and Castile.

The results of the civil war in Morocco was the rise of the Marinid Sultanate and in the early 14th century, they entered Iberia to help secure Grenada. Despite the loss in the Battle of Rio Salado in 1340, they managed to hold off in Grenada and Gibraltar. In 1349 Gibraltar was besieged but at that point the Black Plague was entering the Peninsula and ripped through the siege camp, killing Alfonso XI and much of his army. The Castilian army withdrew and the king's successor, Peter, made a peace with the moors and turned to war with the other Christian states for supremacy while keeping Castile unified, an issue it'd been facing for 70 years now.

    Spanish Inquisition

In 1469 Ferdinand II of Aragon married the Isabella I unifying Spain and becoming the first de facto King of Spain and 4 years later did the unexpected by forming the Tribunal of the Holy Office of the Inquisition. By about this point the Emir of Granada had been granted an Apple of Eden. The new King and Queen began a relentless attack on Granada chipping away at the control and conquering cities for about 20 years in what Pope Sixtus described as a holy crusade. Tomas de Torquemada was made the Grand Inquisitor and based on AC lore took direct orders from Rodrigo Borgia who was on his way to become pope. In 1487 Muhammad XII was made the Emir of Granada. In lore, Ezio traveled to Spain in 1491 to assist the local assassins in saving them from the attacks of Templar Master Torquemada. He eventually made his way to Granada around the same time Aguilar and Maria did to rescue the son of Muhammad XII, knowing he had a PoE, their failure saw them briefly imprisoned in Seville before making their way back to Granada. Believing Tomas de Torquemada was just a puppet for the Borgias, Ezio convinced Muhammad XII to surrender Granada. Two months later on January 2nd, 1492, Muhammad XII did just that to regain his son at the price of the apple and his power. Aguilar killed the Templars at this meeting other than Tomas and retrieved the apple, passing it off to Christopher Columbus, an ally of Ezio and the other Spanish Assassins. Spanish Assassin Luis de Santangel would go on to work with Queen Isabella to help fund Columbus' voyage.

Ezio would leave to go back to Venice in 1492 still in pursuit of Savanarola, while the assassins dealt with the aftermath of the end of the Granada War and the Inquisition beginning in full force. In 1492 Castilian cities were home to Tribunals and the Alhambra decree forcibly expelled Jews from Spain leading to tens of thousands converted to Catholicism and 40,000 fled the country. Assassins worked to rehome them in Rome and Constantinople. By 1498 the Spanish assassins realized Isabela was a puppet of the Templars and attempted to poison her, with Luis in charge of the assassination but dying that year before the job was done. Also that year Tomas de Torquemada was assassinated by assassins. In 1500 or so Ezio had learned from his recruits and allies in Spain that Isabel was in league with the Borgias and Luis had tried to poison her. The assassins would finally finish the job in November of 1504 but not before she had Cesare Borgia who was then imprisoned, transferred to Valencia. Spain would continue infighting and suppression of rebellions while retaining hegemony for another decade while the Spanish Inquisition legally stayed in effect until 1834. But at this point, for the first time in 780 years, the Iberian Peninsula was clear of the Moorish occupation.

COMPLETE: AC Odyssey Special Lieutenant Guide - Part 1

    CAUTION SPOILERS

I've been playing since the first week of release. Lvl 99/Mastery Lvl 247, 100% everything complete on five run throughs. I started this list because I was wanting to find all Legendary lieutenants for my ship. In doing so I found so many more characters that can possibly be recruited. Curiously, I searched around all over various Internet forums looking for lists, but none I found were comprehensive. So I just started a new game and basically just knocked out everybody in the whole game. To my knowledge, this guide is 100% complete with all the possible lieutenants that can be recruited in the game.

Since reddit only allows for 20 pics per page, this guide will consist of 4 parts.

    Link to Part 2

    Link to Part 3

    Link to Part 4

Thanks for looking! Feedback and comments are welcome.

Part 1 - Lieutenants found commonly throughout the game

Descriptions go from left to right, top to bottom. Also listed are the highest tier capable for each character and how common/rare that tier is to find. For rarer tiers, there are listed known locations they have been found at.

My theory is that nearly all the characters on this list (Part 1) are capable of having a Legendary status. It would seem than any character can be an elite ()gold badge around their level #), and therefore has the chance of being Legendary. You just have to find the locations where its possible for that character to have the elite badge and then keep going back and checking. There is a hierarchy, though, so if the higher tiered characters within each group (Spartans, Athenians, Bandits, etc..) have the elite badge at a certain location, then any potential Legendary status on a character will most likely be on their tier. But not always.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is a series classic for good reason -- but this week, the Hookblade Podcast is debating just how high of a rank it deserves. Give the episode a listen and let us know where Brotherhood sits on your lists!

    Assassin's Creed Civil War/Old West/WWI trilogy

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 10:30 AM PDT

Ever since it was teased in Assassin's Creed IV, I've wanted an Old West Assassin's Creed game. From this, I've also wanted to see a Civil War game. Assassin's Creed Syndicate sold me on a WWI game. What if it were a trilogy? A Civil War game could kick it off, with a piece of Eden being discovered in the midst of the war. The Templars could gain control of this piece and begin moving West under the guise of building the transcontinental railroad to obtain the other pieces needed to activate the piece discovered in the Civil War. This railroad is actually being used to get to the Smoky Mountains, where mining operations uncover a Precursor vault filled with pieces of Eden, and the train is being used to transport the pieces back East. This could also tie into the Gold Rush, which is used by the Templars as another excuse to hunt for pieces of Eden. After completing the artifact, it is shipped to Europe to end up in Templar hands. While Jacob and Evie got rid of Templar Control in London, there are still Templars in Austria-Hungary.

While the assassins attempt to find a way to retrieve the artifact, a rogue group of Assassins banished from The Brotherhood for their radical ideas and violations of the creed form a group called The Black Hand. This group of rogue Assassins assassinates Archduke Franz Ferdinand, causing World War One. The Assassins now need to regain this artifact before the Templars use it to win the war and gain control of Europe.

[SPOILERS] Some isolated tweaks would have made AC Odyssey's plot an actual great story.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 05:18 PM PDT

Starting off, I pretty much liked the game. I get most the criticisms made and I share a fair amount of them. I had a blast nonetheless, I loved Kassandra even if she is a white/empty shell, the VA was pretty good. Being able to take major decisions is not AC like but I kinda like the minor choices in conversations. Combat was decent, but there were way too much godly habilities and I missed the possibility of carry a shield.

But onto the plot issues. At the end there is a short summary because it might get way too long.

First off, the overall structure. I think the 3 main plot structure was interesting (family, Cult and Isu artifacts) but added way too more distractions and avoided develloping a connection/interest to anything that happenend. You can help Brasidas in Beocia, then kill Medusa on Lesbos, then rush to Crete kill some random cult member and return to Sparta with Brasidas without any narrative coherence. At this point you may have forgotten who Brasidas is or, at least, lose any interest you had in his part of the story. The family and the Cult plot are pretty connected but the Isu artifact plot should have been accessible only after dealing with the ghost of Kosmos. And the Legacy of the first Blade should have been part of the main story. It is essential to understand the Cult/Order origins. That is the first thing.

Second, onto the story itself. I don't have any major criticism on the family plot. Somewhat diferent and interesting even if not great. Just OK. The Cult story on the other hand. Begun ok starting your journey outside of Cefalonia working for Elpenor and then got worse and worse. How cartoonish are a lot of members, how you start working with a Elpenor (promising) and 2 missions later you kill him and want to hunt all the members. But my major problem is the end of it all. The 3 options given when dealing with Aspasia are just stupid. The kiss option is downright stupid. As is letting her live after all she has done and all the harm she has caused. There should only be 1 option: to kill her (in the game it seems just stupid savage if you kill her, but anyways). But it would be more because of revenge more than Kassandra disagreeing with Aspasia's ideas. Kassandra should have realised that what she said against democracy was right. "No more blue and red, just citizens working for a greater good", I think Kassandra would agree with that. She should have rebuilt the Cult (no corruption, working against slavery as a lot of Templars in a lot of AC games mentioned), thus becoming the founder of the new and true Templar Order/Order of the Ancients.

As I said before, the Legacy DLC should have been interwinted with the Cult and Family storylines. It could start the same way but I think Darius and Kassandra should have ended turning against each other or just separating on bad terms because of their different views on society opening for what I just mentioned, that is: Kassandra rebuilding a non corrupt Order/Cult. THE AC FRANCHISE NEEDS A CANON EXPLANATION TO THE TEMPLARS ORIGINS AND AC ODYSSEY WAS THE GAME TO DO IT.

Lastly (I won't discuss the Atlantis DLC unless someone asks my opinion because it will get way too long), the whole search for the POE is a good post-ending mini plot. Problem: The Staff of Hermes Trismegistus. It should only extend the carrier lifespan for like a century. Having Kassandra dressed on a suit 2500 years later was a bad joke. But having her live 150 years after the game would explain how she managed to rebuild the Order and bring it to power again. She would then pass the Staff to the new Cult Leader but at some point (before Origins) it would get lost (don't ask me how), thus explaining why Layla and Abstergo are kinda searching for it. Pythagoras (if involved and if he is her father, not sure I like it) would refuse to give it peacefully because he would know her true intentions. Kassandra would be forced to kill him. It would should an idealistic and full of resolve but ruthless founder of the Templar Order.

    QUICK RECAP:

    - KASSANDRA SHOULD HAVE WORKED WITH ELPENOR AND THE CULT FOR A LONGER TIME BEFORE REALISING THEY WANTED TO KILL HER BLOODLINE. IT WOULD HAVE GIVEN HER ENOUGH TIME TO UNDERSTAND THEIR IDEALS (MOSTLY PEACE THROUGH ORDER).

    - KASSANDRA WOULD HAVE MET DARIUS AT THE MIDDLE OF THE MAIN STORYLINE, BEFORE DEALING WITH ASPASIA. THEY WOULD HAVE FOUGHT THE PERSIAN ORDER BECAUSE OF THEM ALSO HUNTING HER BLOODLINE BUT AT THE END THEY WOULD HAVE GONE SEPARATED WAYS BECAUSE OF THEIR DIFERENT VIEWS ON SOCIETY.

    - KASSANDRA WOULD HAVE KILLED ASPASIA FOR REVENGE BUT WOULD HAVE UNDERSTOOD HER IDEALS AND WOULD HAVE REBUILT THE ORDER (A NON-CORRUPT AND IDEALISTIC BUT RUTHLESS ORDER). THUS KASSANDRA WOULD BE THE FOUNDER OF THE ORDER OF ANCIENTS IN ORIGINS AND BY EXTENSION OF THE TEMPLAR ORDER AND ABSTERGO.

    - TO FULFILL THE RISE TO POWER OF THE NEW ORDER AND TO AVOID DYING BEFORE MANAGING TO DO IT, SHE WOULD SEARCH FOR THE FOUR POE AND KILL THE 4 MYTHICAL CREATURES. IF WE ACCEPT PYTHAGORAS BEING HER FATHER, HE WOULD RESUFE TO GIVE HER THE HERMES STAFF PEACEFULLY BECAUSE OF HIM KNOWING HER TRUE INTENTIONS. SHE WOULD KILL HIM SHOWING HER RESOLVE TO FULFILL HER NEW QUEST.

    - THE STAFF WOULD ONLY EXTEND HER LIFESPAN FOR LIKE A CENTURY HELPING HER IN HER QUEST TO REBUILD THE ORDER. THE STAFF WOULD GET LOST IN THE TIME BETWEEN HER DEATH AND THE AC ORIGINS PERIOD.

The game would need a lot of minor changes to match the main changes I mentioned and I may have missed some other major plot issues but I think it would be way more coherent this way.

To anyone who reached this point, thanks a lot for reading! I hope you liked it and I'm open to any discussion.

Ubisoft Club Challenges not showing up as complete

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 06:09 PM PDT

I'm playing ac2 rn on my Xbox one through backwards compatibility, I completed the bleeding effect challenge yet it hasn't shown up in Ubisoft club and I haven't gotten my points, is this because it is through backwards compatibility or just a glitch on my end?

Does any game other than Brotherhood contain the shop quests, the most tedious activity in the game?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 01:41 PM PDT

I started playing Brotherhood after AC1 and AC2, and this game is legendary, and I am still in Sequence 3. However, the only major flaw I see in this great game are those annoying shop quests where you have to collect specific materials in order to get some shop items. Why doesn't the game let me to just buy the stuff I need like in AC2, instead of this tedious collecting of materials? Before I started playing this game, I thought that shop quests are actual missions given by store owners, how was I supposed to know I shouldn't have sold the items I already had? I heard there are only two shrunken heads in the entire game in two chests, how am I supposed to know if I sold them already and being unable to do everything? Can I just kill someone on the street, knowing they'll guaranteed have it? Since guards almost never do. Such an amazing game with such a stupid feature. I hope newer games don't have this excess of a game mechanic.

    Assassin's creed making PS4 too hot ?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 08:44 PM PDT

I have been using PS4 for 5 years now without any issues and have played loads of games containing all exclusives, other games like Batman Arkham Knight, Red dead redemption 2. I have never had any issues regarding PS4 being too hot or any kind of error while playing any games except some crashes which were normal.

I clean my ps4 every week once or twice and keep it in a safe environment with lesser exposure to dust.

Recently I have started playing Assassin's Creed: UNITY and it was going fine untill suddenly my PS4 started saying "The PS4 is too hot. Turn off the PS4 and wait untill the temperature goes down." ... It was weird as I had finished games like Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and GTA 5-- which did not result in such a response.

I have deleted the Assassin's Creed:Unity game and now it is working fine as I'm playing another game for continuous 5 hours.

I don't know what happened there but I'd love to know if you guys have experienced such things in this game or any other.

    Thank you!

Assassins Creed US History Story Assignment

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 12:30 PM PDT

So today in history class our professor tasked us with writing the introduction to a fantasy story relating to American history. The example he used was a story about Captain America fighting alongside the US against Nazis during WWII. He said that this was incorrect on 2 accounts: 1) Captain America did not exist and 2) it didn't fit in the marvel universe. But he said this is a model we should follow.

My immediate thought was to do something with the brotherhood in America. I was thinking a little more into the future of the US so in relation to the timeline, it would take place after AC III. As for my story, that's as far as I got. Any ideas or plots would be much appreciated. Thanks!

*These are random characters found on ships during certain quests only. They are very basic avatars that don't even seem to have a full resolution to the picture. It's almost like Ubisoft left it unfinished. The picture can be seen in the Ship menu (as shown in the 2nd pic), but when you actually choose it as one of your lieutenants the picture is gone and just the color of the background is shown for whatever tier you have chose. The first picture above has a Legendary, Epic, Rare and Common one chosen. I first came across them while trying to find Persian characters/avatars during Legacy of the First Blade, Part 1. During the "Mysterious Malady" quest, you have to destroy two ships to recover some medicine. The first ship is just a normal Pirate Pentaconter. The second ship is a Persian ship and contains all Persian soldiers. I again saw some during the "Have You Seen My Mikkos?" quest when you return to Lemnos and there are 2 ships waiting for you near Mikkos's House. Next time was on Nestor the Formidable's ship in Legacy of the First Blade, Part 2, along with actual Persian soldier avatars (see Persians in part 3 of this guide). Finally, whenever you get a Spartan or Athenian ship bounty on the weekly orichalcum quests, they will contain these characters. The only Legendary ones that I have found came from these. When selected as lieutenants, the actual chararcters do appear on your ship, I've linked another pic below showing the 3 Persians (Epic, Rare and Common) and the one Athenian Strategos (Legendary) that I assigned.

Here is the pic of the Unknown Lieutenants on The Adrestia

    Xenophon:

*Recruited on Kythera Island during "Atoll Order" Diona quest. He is the leader of the bandits at the Shipwreck Campsite on the small island south of Kythera.

    Zetes the Retired:

*Recruited at the Mountain Temple of Poseidon on the island of Lesbos during the Medusa quest. Retired mercenary with a unique avatar.

Problems with Joystick and Controller "fighting" on AC Odyssey

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 03:52 PM PDT

Hi all. I've run into an issue and I've not been able to find anything on the Ubisoft forums or searching through here to solve it. I have a Thrustmaster joystick, throttle and rudders for Flight Sim/Ace Combat/etc. however when I load AC:O I have to unplug the joystick and then struggle through the menus to set it to "Xbox Controller" every time. I've seen posts that suggest looking in the INI file, and it says "AutoSwitchEnabled=0", so I don't understand why it's getting enabled again every time I close the game. I have everything plugged in the back of my computer, and don't really want to have to unplug/replug my joystick every time I want to play AC:O or, potentially Valhalla when it comes out.

Has anyone found an actual solution to this?
