I like pretty much all of the mainline games

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 08:10 PM PDT

I know I sound like a blind fanboy in the title, but I have genuinely found a lot of enjoyment out of every mainline game in the series, and I don't "hate" any one of them. Of course, there are ones that I think are a bit more flawed/mediocre (personally AC3, Unity, and Odyssey for me, all due to the fact that they're good/okay) games that could've been great with an extra year of development imo), but i still had a blast running around with Haytham, assassinating Templar's amongst the vicious crowds during the revolution, and treating Greece like my own personal demi-god playground in ancient times.

I'm not saying at all that they're perfect games and I totally understand why some of them receive the criticism they do, in fact I agree with most people's criticisms of the series. I'm just glad that the franchise has kicked around for so long, and I can not wait to see how it continues to develop in Valhalla and to the next generation of AC.

(Keep in mind I'm only talking about the main games. I haven't played the side-scrollers so I can't give a fair judgement on them, but I do like Liberation for what it is, an overly ambitious Vita game that was good for the system it was on but ultimately a shallow experience when compared to it's home console counterparts)

The World War 1 segment in Syndicate is fantastic and a proof of concept for how Modern Day should work. A mini open world in a modern city, with only a few streets but filled with facilities

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 05:41 AM PDT

Besides that, it's also amazing how the WW1 content, being totally optional, contains about 1h20 of missions! Only 20 minutes are obligatory (if you choose to enter the simulation) but you have one hour of missions that you can do. Honestly, it's absolutely amazing how Ubisoft even invested money in such a segment most players didn´t even explore. And this is exactly how the modern day should work.

A mini open world reusing assets and guards. Just change the clothes, update the buildings a bit and voila, just like Syndicate did. But what about guns and cars? I hear ya. That's the brilliance of WW1 London in that segment. The few streets you could explore (still bigger than a cave in Egypt..) had cars in them, but they were turned off, the streets were closed off. You could even say it was due to Abstergo.

And even if you could not build a city block for a mini open world (if the historical setting was too ancient and not having more 1400s assets, which in Europe would work because the cities are still very historical looking) , you could always have a rural mini open world. Why couldn´t we, as Layla explore the desert a bit, a tiny faction that would have Abstergo camps you could eliminate and they would respawn. The same gameplay loop but in the modern day.

And of course, easy way to add obligatory missions. Everyone would be happy. MD fans, with a mini open world to stab a few guards and climb a few buildings. Optional, but valuable. And before you say Ubi would never invest in this, they invested in Discovery mode and barely anyone played that

Most AC protagonists are motivated by revenge. We could use some variety.

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 03:12 PM PDT

Edit: their INITIAL motivations that starts them off

Altair - regain honour and rank

Ezio - revenge (father and brothers)

    Connor - revenge (mother)

    Edward - get rich

Arno - revenge (fathers), love? (Only one I haven't played at all)

Evie and Jacob - continue family legacy, fooling around

    Bayek - revenge (son)

Kassandra / Alexios - revenge (family broken)

Non-mainline protagonists like Aveline, Adewale, and Shay (and Haytham I guess) are less motivated by revenge. Personally, I find these characters both more interesting and easier to get into.

What are some other personal motivations you'd like to see? Do we even need a personal motivation for the story to work? How can a revenge motivation be presented with more nuance?

Idea for kind of intimidation system.

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 10:20 PM PDT

I've been playing some Odyssey recently, and it's pretty immersion breaking when some thug in rags treats your character, who can literally look like a god late game, like they're just some wannabe mercenary.

Maybe they can add something like the skill checks in fallout. Every piece of armor adds points to an intimidation level. The more intimidating an armor piece makes you look, the more points it adds. This level would change how NPCs react to you, and some dialogue options would require either a low or high intimidation level to access.

*Excuse the weird grammar in the title

What does the Brotherhood provide for individual assassins anyway? (ACU spoiler)

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 12:21 AM PDT

Ezio only had himself and the help of some friends; Connor got his training from Archilles and that's it; The Fryes knew only each other and Henry Green. I haven't played ACI, so can't comment on that.

Arno was trained by the Brotherhood, but afterwards the Council has done nothing but boss him around, telling him "The kill was unsanctioned!" "You're off the case!" and then expelled him. From what I see Arno and other protagonists from the series always did their own investigation, infiltrated enemy territories alone and assassinated by themselves. When they received help, it's mostly from their own acquaintances. They even had to pay for all ammo and equipment. So for these to-be master assassins, the Brotherhood seems completely useless and even stands in their way. What's the point in joining anyway?

    AC at Ubisoft forward 9/10/20

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 12:19 AM PDT

Do you think we will see anything new regarding Valhalla during the event? Maybe even something new in regards to maybe a new switch port for maybe ezio collection? Maybe the chronicle games? In the end it's just a wait and see.

AC game set in the Cold War

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 11:02 PM PDT

What if in the near future there is an AC spin-off title set in the cold war, like you work for nixon or some other US president and try to help them win the cold war or even vietnam, basically an AC game with massive amounts of stealth parts and combat with 2 guns that you can switch between. You can also climb into vents and sewer pipes aswell as roll through the mud to hide from enemy patrols. You have 4 melee weapons, the cane sword, hidden blade, dagger and rope dart. You can pick up enemy weapons like sniper rifles and submachine guns. Your ranged weapons are a pistol and silenced sniper rifle. The games main enemy is the KGB leader, the KGB is basically the russian cold war templars, you have an ally in the KGB that will give you info for missions and targets, the game has 3 massive segments of open world, one in germany, one in russia and one in vietnam, vietnam gets locked off after the vietnam section, then it opens up to Afghanistan. Your character is your own, meaning you cna make your own character, russian or not, you can also disguise your character before missions, the main armor for your assassin will look kinda rebbelling cold war esque.

    What do you guys think?

What's something older Assassin's Creed games have/do that you wish would make a return?

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 06:30 AM PDT

I miss a lot of things. There's Ziplines in Odyssey, but I really miss the houses conected through ziplines seen in Revelations. Made for some really fun kills and getaways.

I absolutely adore the minmal aesthetic of AC1. I love how it focuses on feeling like a simulation rather than a game. Especially in modern day how you just have continue | quit. I don't wanna read lore, I want it to appear organically in conversations.

    TREE CLIMBING

I really like using parachutes. Again, interesting death from above kills.

What are some things you miss?

Edit: Glyphs. Why tf haven't Glyphs made a return?

    Edit: Spelling error

Is there ANY way to zoom out in Unity?

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 06:10 PM PDT

I swear I have the least amount of visibility, makes it so hard to see basic enemy attacks and sometimes don't even pop up to counter...never been more frustrated with an assassin's combat style. Just 2 regular guards can screw me going back and forth out of camera like ugh 😑

What do you make of the Staff in Episode 3 of the Fate of Atlantis DLC in AC Odyssey?

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 09:15 PM PDT

No, I'm not talking about the Staff of Hermes, I'm talking about the Staff of the Dikastes. Do you think it's a Piece of Eden? It looks like a staff of Eden with an apple on top yet it's never mentioned as a POE. It also only knocks down enemies. So what do you all think? POE or not?

    Origins/Odyssey grinding?

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 10:36 AM PDT

Preface: I mean absolutely no disrespect. I'm being sincere in asking this, and I'm genuinely confused. I'm not sneakily making fun of people who don't play the games like I did. The developers made the game for YOU. It's your game. Do it the way you enjoy it.

How are either of these games grindy? I've seen so many people say that they're grindy, some of whom even claim it's Ubisoft's trick of getting people to pay real money for EXP. I've completed both games, and I was miles ahead of the level requirement throughout the entire game, both times. I had to turn on level scaling for Origins right after Siwa to keep from feeling like I had God mode enabled (I remind you, this is not some silly excuse to "show off," as if anyone would be impressed anyways).

Albeit, I'm a completionist, but it felt like just completing the occasional side quest would be enough to keep you up to par with level requirements. Are you guys just skipping side quests and all locations? And if so, what's the rush?

I don't want to piss anybody off and I don't want to argue. I'm sincerely curious.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Sex, Magic Mushrooms, Beheadings and More, ESRB Says

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 12:38 PM PDT

"This is an action-adventure game in which players take on the role of a Viking mercenary (Eivor), who travels through England to forge alliances, lead raids and defeat rival clans/rulers", is the description offered by ESRB of the game. However, the explanation does not end here: "Players explore open-world environments, go on missions (eg, hunt for items, fight enemies), and use stealth to quietly kill human targets." Here's what ESRB has to say about violence, sex, and drugs in the game.

What do you hope Valhalla will have that Origins/Odyssey didn’t?

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 12:56 PM PDT

It could be something from the older games that you want them to bring back, something that's never been in the franchise that you wish they'd introduce, or something about Vikings, Viking culture, or the setting that you hope to see in the game.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla's Skill Tree (Web?) probably has at least 1,500 "skills and abilities"

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 08:40 AM PDT

I want to start by saying, I am hyped for this game. I preordered the one with the statue and everything, I love Darby's writing. I love English history. But after watching the gameplay they've released, I felt like a lot of the systems, mechanics and overall experience look like Odyssey with refinements and new paint.

The biggest hint for me was the massive skill tree they have hidden behind clouds/fog. Some of the skills you buy are increased damage, health, etc. So it made me think, what the hell monstrousity are they hiding behind the fog?

So, I counted Odyssey's skills, abilities, and the mastery skills, along with the enhanced abilities from the DLCs and these are the numbers.

(I didn't know what to name them so sorry if they are confusing)

    --

Master Assassin "skills" 27 with 20 levels each = 540

    Master Warrior 29 "skills" w/ 20 each = 580

    Master Hunter 26 "skills" w/ 20 each = 520

Total Mastery "skill" points needed to gain "max level" = 1,640

    Hunter Abilities = 12 * 3 (+ 2 Enhanced) = 38

    Warrior Abilities = 13 * 3 (+4 enhanced) = 43

    Assassin Abilities = 13 * 3 (+4 Enhanced) = 43

14 "general abilities?? idk what they are called, like Ikaros can peck people and shit"

Total "Skill" Points to Reach Max Level = 1,778
