The different kinds of Eagle Vision we've seen in the games

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 01:58 AM PDT

Eagle Vision is such a neat gaming mechanic and in lore mechanic. Nearly anyone can learn it, given enough time, but only some have enough Isu DNA in them to come across it naturally.

Every game seems to have different versions of eagle vision. Obviously in an attempt to introduce different gameplay mechanics but it also shows us how diverse and varied this "6th sense" can manifest itself in chronological order.

I love this franchise so I guess I want to list how many different ways eagle vision can manifest itself.

    431-421 BC: Assassin's Creed Odyssey

    The Greek mercenary: Kassandra

The main thing with Kassandra is that she has a telepathic connection with her eagle Icarus. She can see what Icarus can see and accordingly see the residuals of her targets and enemies that way. Even through walls.

Its a very rare form of eagle vision. Connor's daughter is the most recent recorded person to have such an ability.

The second thing is Athena's Sight. Its basically an eagle pulse, which launches a pulse in a small area to identify enemies and objects of value like treasure or loot.

Kass may also have the highest concentration of Isu DNA considering her parentage.

    49-47 BC: Assassin's Creed Origins

The Last Medjay and Founder of the Hidden Ones: Bayek

Almost 400 years later and we come across Bayek of Siwa who has similar abilities as Kassandra when it comes to having a literal eagle vision, via his pet eagle Senu.

One extra thing he might have over Kass is that with Senu he can spot more than just enemies. He can spot nonhostile animals as well and he can see more clearly what kind of activity everyones doing as well as have a keen eye on specific materials that he needs.

He also has an eagle pulse like Kassandra but the game calls it Animus pulse. Implying its an animus feature, however since Kassandra's skill has a name it seems likely that Bayek has the same ability and we can rationalize it as the Animus simply trying to make sense of it.

Bayek also has the ability to enter memory corridors after killing someone, which is like some psychic empty void where you can converse with the fleeting consciousness of your victims, while only a few seconds pass in the real world. Bayek's corridor is capable of all sorts of metaphysical visuals related to his beliefs and feelings. His victims and him almost have a psychic battle of sorts sometimes.

    873 AD: Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The ability will presumably same as the previous too but there could be different variations of it. Currently users of eagle vision refer it to as OdinSight.

    1191 AD: Assassin's Creed

The Master Assassin: Altair Ibn La'Ahad

The assassin's of Altair's brotherhood actually dub this special ability as eagle vision and I assume that terms been carried out since then.

It's a very basic version but ultimately still powerful ability. Altair can see allies that can be of use, objects of interests (like hiding spots) and as well as enemies. He could use it to read the intentions of other. A useful trait to have as an assassin.

Altair also had the ability of memory corridors. His corridors couldn't create extra visuals however.

He couldn't see through walls however.

1247 AD: Assassin's Creed Revelations (Memory seals)

The Mentor of the Assassin Brotherhood: Altair Ibn La'Ahad

Worth noting, in old age Altair would be plagued by memory echoes of his past. Which is possibly related to eagle vision.

    1459-1512 AD: Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood & Revelations

The Mentor of the Italian and Ottomon Brotherhood: Ezio Auditore Da Firenze

Ezio's abilities start of the same way as Altair. Eventually as he grows older he is able to perfect it into something called the Eagle Sense. This helps him predict presence of any sneak attack. It also helps him focus on an individual's future journey and intentions via psychic echoes. He could retrace old steps. Including ones made by Altair in Masyaf.

Ezio could also use eagle sense whilst running around. But he could not see through walls either. His fellow Assassin La Volpe allegedly had that ability.

Ezio's eagle sense was so developed by 1511 he could also help sense heartbeats.

    1712-1722 AD: Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flags

    The Pirate: Edward Kenway

Edward had similar eagle sense abilities as Ezio but he could also tag individuals and see those tags through walls. A more developed ability than either Ezio or Altair.

    1752- 1760 AD: Assassin's Creed Rogue

    Master Templar: Shay Cormac

Shay Cormac could also predict sneak attacks much like Ezio could and could even use a radar-like sensor to detect dangerous enemies while having all the advantages of Edward's tagging Eagle Vision.

    1754-1783 AD: Assassin's Creed 3

The Templar Grandmaster and Master Assassin: Haytham Kenway & Connor Kenway

Haytham is the son of Edward and had eagle vision similar to how Ezio's eagle sense worked. He didn't have his dad's ability to mark targets out through walls.

His son, Connor also operated his eagle vision the same manner as his dad. Connor could also recreate psychic echoes of old moments in time. Although that was a rare ability that didn't manifest often and in the game manifested once when he tried to investigate an old murder scene.

Many years later, Connor's daughter manifested similar abilities as Bayek and Kassandra.

    1789- 1800 AD: Assassin's Creed Unity

    French Assassin: Arno Dorian

Arno's eagle vision is perhaps the most interesting. His eagle vision also functions as an eagle pulse. Except unlike Bayek or Kassandra the pulse lasts longer. He could also color mark his enemies and other people with it. He could also see movements through walls. After killing a victim he could see key memories of their lives that can be related to what he is searching for.

He could also use the eagle pulse while running.

However, one time after killing the Sage (a human with high levels of Isu-DNA) Arno not only witnessed his memory, he ended up conversing with his fleeting consciousness within that memory as the sage died bleeding. This could easily be possible because the Sage had higher levels of Isu DNA but does confirm for the first time that those weird memory corridor conversations Altair was having was a legitimate ability of the eagle vision.

    1868 AD: Assassin's Creed Syndicate

Master Assassins: Jacob and Evie Frye

Both Jacob and Evie Frye possessed a very powerful version of eagle vision. They could see through walls. Could make out targets outside of their eagle vision. They could mark out objects and other interests that could help in assassination attempts and they had a huuuge range. Perhaps the largest range than any assassin with their eagle vision save for like Kassandra or Bayek using an actual eagle's vision.

However they couldn't run while using eagle vision.

The twins also had the same ability to enter memory corridors after killing their victim.

    2012 AD

    Desmond Miles:

Despite having an abundance of isu-dna he developed eagle vision similar to his ancestors (Altair, Ezio, Connor) by going through the animus and experiencing the bleeding effect.

I really miss getting to know a character

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 08:08 PM PDT

I know it only really happened with one character, but man. I just finished replaying the Ezio trilogy and I love it so much. I love getting to spend time with the character, learn who they are, see them grow, and see them build the trust, respect, and power of the brotherhood. I wish we could have this again.

Assassins creed Syndicate deserves more praise because it was highly overlooked especially in light of the past two games

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 06:27 PM PDT

With the recent leaks of the new assassins creed, it has me thinking about how much ac fans overlooked ac syndicate because that was the last "true" assassins creed game where you actually felt like an assassin. Sure, it may have not been best in the franchise but atleast it stuck to its roots. The same goes for unity. I feel those 2 games deserve far more appreciation especially for their assassin related gameplay unlike the past two games we got. What do yall think?

For the love of good make the horse riding/hunting fun.

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 11:01 PM PDT

The one thing I feel like this series has never improved on is hunting and riding. Horse riding has absolutely no substance. The mount has the feeling as if you're riding a block of cardboard. No actual control or feeling of connection. The actual wildlife feels as if they are dead walking. There's no actually technique or thought that does into tracking, etc.

Assassins Creed 1 needs a remake

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 11:18 AM PDT

Assassins creed 1 is so good in so many aspects. However, the gameplay is complete shit. It feels like a PSP or a DS game, and the interrogation missions were a complete chore. However, the villains are the best the series has ever seen; each villain has a good intention that they tell Altair before their death, and they aren't just like "i did this for power!" like most AC villains nowadays. The game could have been an easy 10 for me if it wasn't for the buggy free running and the repetitiveness of some missions. I think it deserves a remake.

Thank you Unity glitches for the laugh and making my job easier

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 09:22 PM PDT

I'll start by saying that I wouldn't call myself a gamer, just a person who's picked up a new social distancing activity. I only play with keyboard controls, and I will admit I'm not that great (probably due to just playing with the keyboard). BUT I have had loads of fun to this day.

I started Unity for the first time, and I have enjoyed the challenge of learning how to make Arno do his thing by keyboard only. But with that in mind, I've been tackling the co-op missions solo, because I think I'd make experienced players eyeballs hit the backs of their heads. Co-op alone is another added challenge, but the most recent one I did had a glitch of two guards running at the wall right where I had to pass by, and that one error helped me complete the mission. Then later, I took out a criminal and the whole top half of his body ended up IN the cobblestone; I was cracking up.

None of my close friends have played Unity, but I wanted to get my thoughts somewhere because I had such a good time playing so far, glitches and all.

What technical malfunctions in Unity (or another ac) have helped you achieve a goal on accident, or just have a good laugh?

Alexios and Kassandra are literally the same character

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 08:17 AM PDT

It rubs me the wrong way when I hear people online or in-person saying that Kassandra was the better protagonist or Alexios was the better protagonist. Regardless of who you choose to play as, they literally would've done and said the exact same things as the other one. The only difference between them is their genitals...that's it. Most people just have their gender preferences when playing games. I'm a guy and personally prefer to play as a male in AC games if I have the option, although there is nothing wrong with playing as a female.

Clay hugging Desmond - Answered in Black Flag

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 10:47 PM PDT

This is really long winded and I am sorry

So back in 2011, playing Revelations straight off release. I remember getting to the part where Clay (Subject 16) hugs/squeezes Desmond right before the Animus Island dissolves. When I got to that part I noticed that Desmond's back started glowing (but it could've been Clay's arms dissolving).

After finishing the game I remember I searched most of the AC community forums, this sub, even talking to friends but the only thing people could come up with was theories, no concrete evidence. I eventually forgot about it and before 3 was released I replayed the series to refresh myself. I remember seeing it again. This time I said I wouldn't forget it and tried to find the answer in 3. But alas, I never found the answer and Desmond well, did what he did.

I thought maybe 16 uploaded Desmond's mind into the animus database/servers and we'd see him in the next game, Black Flag. When I saw it was about Connor's grandfather I thought we were in for a chance with maybe playing as William and him reconnecting with Desmond in the animus and we would be doing more modern day missions. I sure was wrong.

Now to my point, I played the crap out of Black Flag, did everything in the Animus and outside, but I missed something or forgot about it and it wasn't until I just replayed the series that I worked it out. Desmond himself tells us what Clay did. This is what Clay did, this is why he held onto Desmond.

TL;DR: Clay showed Desmond everything he went through and all his memories from Adam and Eve to Ezio to Possible Futures that Juno, Tinia and Minerva were trying to work out.

    Edit: spelling and stuff

[Spoiler] Solving the plot of Valhalla

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 11:42 PM PDT

The information is from the leaked gameplay.

During Rued's boss-fight, Rued says, "They should be ruled, Wolf-Kissed! Made thralls (slaves), not treated as equals. We are better than this! Than all of them!" This indicates Eivor is friends with Oswald and was helping him take his throne back while Rued, as he rightfully should, was against it.

Oswald here is Oswald of East Anglia, and a Viking is helping him take his kingdom back? Well, Oswald was the successor of Edmund the Martyr, who was the king of East Anglia until his death by the Vikings. The kingdom of East Anglia was "devastated" by the Vikings.

Rued here warns Eivor that they should fight Oswald, not for him. According to Wikipedia –

Evidence suggests that during the period between the death of Edmund the Martyr and the return of Guthrum to East Anglia in 880, Oswald and Æthelred II of East Anglia (not the "Unready") ruled the East Angles as client kings. It is possible that the East Anglian aristocracy had been almost, but not entirely, extinguished by the Viking attacks that resulted in Edmund's death, and that in the years when Oswald, Æthelred and Guthrum successively ruled the kingdom, there was a period of opposition or defiance against the Danish leadership.

Æthelred I was the brother of Alfred the Great who we saw in Valhalla's cinematic trailer. But Oswald ruled East Anglia with Æthelred II. So, it could very well be a betrayal story where Eivor helps Oswald take back his crown by fighting all odds and their own people, but in the end, gets betrayed by Oswald.

An excerpt from Alred The Great's Wikipedia page –

This is also the period in which almost all chroniclers agree that the Saxon people of pre-unification England submitted to Alfred. In 888, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Æthelred, also died. One year later Guthrum, or Athelstan by his baptismal name, Alfred's former enemy and king of East Anglia, died and was buried in Hadleigh, Suffolk. Guthrum's death changed the political landscape for Alfred. The resulting power vacuum stirred up other power-hungry warlords eager to take his place in the following years. The quiet years of Alfred's life were coming to a close.

Another detail is that Oswald and Æthelred II were sub-kings, known only from numismatic evidence under Norse suzerainty. So, we don't know what's the actual story, just yet.

A Discussion About the Stealth in Recent AC Games

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 01:01 AM PDT

Hey guys, so I've been thinking about this for awhile and I wanted to talk about it. For awhile now I've seen all of these posts here about bring stealth back, AC isn't about combat etc etc...and I just don't get it?? I've played both Origins and Odyssey as pretty much full stealth games other then the areas where combat is required like the conquest battles or boss battles.

It is absolutely possible to clear entire forts and camps without being detected or spotted and the games give you many skills and tools that let you do it rather easily if you put in the effort to build up your characters. My Alexios can critical assassinate pretty much everyone and anyone who doesn't is always taken out by Hero Strike. Not to mention arrows also help a lot.

It's one thing to say I want the Hidden Blade back or I want to be able to sit on a bench of people and blend in, but stealth itself hasn't gone anywhere.

Just finished playing through the main story of AC Unity, comparing that to Odyssey which is your favorite?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 12:30 AM PDT

After finishing AC Unity the story is very cookie cutter AC crap, where the Templar grand-master has an artifact and now you have this lackluster boss fight. When I finished I felt disappointed, BUT I do feel like it was a better experience than Odyssey was.

These past 3 weeks I've been buying and re-playing all the franchise has to offer and Unity aswell as Odyssey and Syndicate are the worst this series has to offer. The reason why I'm comparing the two is because of the same people on this sub who like Unity are the same people who hate Odyssey (maybe I'm wrong) but it just seems they're both lackluster AC games.

    p.s (Valhalla looks awful)

Using ACNH's custom design feature, I decided to bring over some of the Assassin robes from the games in the series and bring them to life with my character. Don't know if people will like these, but if they do, I'll be sure to post some more and include Templars.

Here is the album in question.

A little rant from a relatively new player of AC: Odyssey

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 05:27 PM PDT

So I bought AC Odyssey Ultimate Edition a couple weeks ago on my Ps4 (Just before TLOU2 so just started playing it recently), so far it's been pretty fun but I played it right after I played origins and felt much more confortable in that game with things as : Horse navigation, Fast Travel Spots, arrows (they are soooo weak in this game :( ) but there is a single "feature" in Odyssey that I hate with all my soul and that is the bounty meter.

While I dont have a problem with having a bounty and paying for it, I really really reeeeeally find it ridiculous when I'm lets say in Naxos killing the athenians that were given by the quest to do so, and I accumulate bounty that is held by a Spartan patron (this happened in attika as well an athenian holding a bounty for killing spartans) or worse I sneak around in a base that happens to be in the middle of a city (seriously all these temples needed to be so guarded?) I sneak and kill the Ptolemarch with a critical assassination only to be seen by a random pedestrian who gives me a bounty for it.

Besides bounties should work like rdr2 I believe. I mean having a witness that takes some time to actually tell on you, that way you're not accumulating a random bounty just for clearing a fort or a given quest annihilation, it's a little dumb. (I don't apprecite deciding to take in a fort straight on and having 4 to 5 bounty hunters joining up for the fight)

Tl;dr : this game is awesome, it has a few flaws compared to Origins but the only thing I HATE is the bounty meter.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is underappreciated and here's why

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 09:52 AM PDT

So recently Unity has been getting a lot of love (If you didn't already know) but what about Brotherhood. It's probably one of the most underappreciated AC games which is sad because imo it's one of the best if not the best.Brotherhood did so many things right and it doesn't get the praise it deserves for it.

For starters Brotherhood has the best modern day, it doesn't force it upon you like most games, you play one section at the start and one section at the end that's all the game makes you do. The rest is entirely optional, you're free to leave the animus whenever you want and learn more about the characters whether it be through talking to them or reading emails.

Then there's the story and characters. The story in Brotherhood is great. Character development isn't shoved in your face and is conveyed through subtle changes in the dialogue. We get to see Ezio's growth from Master Assassin to Mentor. Ezio isn't the only character that's given this treatment however plenty of other characters like Claudia receive this treatment and even previous characters like Christina that you might have forgotten about are developed through side missions.

Now onto the open-world. This game absolutely nails it. It was the first AC game to create a seamless open-world with no loading screens (fast travel doesn't count) by setting the game entirely in Rome. The open-world is packed with things to do whether it be destroying Borgia towers, completing faction quests and delving into tombs in search of keys to get the Brutus Armor. Brotherhood has no shortage of content and very little of it is filler. Rome is stunning. The graphics have aged really well thanks to the Ezio's Collection and it shows.

And finally the gameplay. Brotherhood's gameplay is excellent. It introduced us to the Brotherhood system, a system that would reappear in later games like Syndicate and Revelations. Progression is well-handled by having Ezio's gear lost in the attack on the Villa. You start the game with a fresh set of robes (my personal favourite), a sword and the Auditore Hidden Blade then you spend the rest of the game recovering that equipment thanks to Leornardo. Combat is expanded upon with the introduction of kill streaks. Parkour remains the same as previous entries, if it ain't broken don't fix it, but with the addition of parachutes.

And that's it. I also think Rogue is underappreciated but Shay MaKeS hIs OwN lUcL so it's fine.

    Whats your favorite AC game?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 09:09 PM PDT

What are your thoughts on the leaked gameplay footage of AC Valhalla?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 12:34 AM PDT

In my Opinion the gameplay looks just like AC Origins and Odyssey with a bit improvements.

If I'm honest my hype for the game just dropped really bad.

Ubisoft took a two year hiatus for this game and it just looks like a reskined AC Odyssey with a Vikings Setting.

I really hope the final product doesn't look at all like this.

I just hope the gameplay of the final product is a evolution like AC2, AC3, AC Unity and AC Origins.

If Ubisoft decides to release next year two Assassin's Creed Titles like in 2014. The Last Gen AC would just be a AC Origins 4/Odyssey 3/Valhalla 2.

Well atleast I hope the story is good. That's just the only thing which gives me hope.

I think Haytham was wrong about the Assassin Creed [Spoilers]

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 01:20 PM PDT

In AC3 Haytham says, that being Templar is the result of a realisation, that they therefore do not need a Creed. More or less these words. He is wrong. The Creed doesn't really define what Assassins are, it regulates what they are allowed to do. Being an Assassin also comes from a realisation. It comes from understanding the true meaning of "Nothing is true, everything is permitted". The Creed serves as a channel, a help on the way to fulfill that realisation.

The Creed isn't the source if being an Assassin. At the core of both organisations is a realisation. While Assassins realise, that the illusion must be brought down, Templars want to use it to their advantage.

    What do you think?

Wanted to share these hanging banners my Mom and I made for my room—what do you guys think?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 09:40 AM PDT

I found that in Assassin's Creed 2, if you time your attack correctly after a block, it will deal a direct hit which can be followed with a finisher attack. This can be used to quickly take down tough enemies, including Brutes.

Will AC: Valhalla have loot boxes or microtransactions?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 03:08 PM PDT

What do you think guys? Will it be disaster like it was with Ghost Recon: Breakpoint? Cause it seems every newer Ubisoft (singleplayer) game since around 2016 has microtransactions on almost every in-game item.

I think this will be same case with Valhalla - day 1 in-game shop full of skins, better armor, weapons "time savers" to avoind grindfest etc.

    What are your opinion guys?
