[Megathread] Speculation and ideas for the next Assassin's Creed game

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 04:42 PM PDT

Hello all you Assassins & Templars, Hidden Ones & Mercenaries. We're all excited about the prospect of a new Assassins Creed game. To date, there has been no official word from Ubisoft on anything about the new game. And yet, many of us have theories & ideas galore.

This thread is a place to let your imagination run wild. What would you like to see in a new game? What kind of gameplay would you like? Where would you like to see a future game be set? What characters would you like to see from past games in either the historical stories or from the Modern Day?

    A couple of reminders:

No disrespect. Don't be that guy. If you don't like someone's ideas, that's fine. Let's all behave like respectful adults. Remember, this is supposed to be fun.

Be sure to cite sources of any leaks, rumors, & speculation. Don't just say - "well I heard..." And yes, we all know there are some journalists out there reporting what they say is "confirmed." This is a place to hear your thoughts.

Remember the spoiler policy. If you're speculating on the Odyssey dlcs for example, if you mention characters or story points from the dlcs, use spoiler tags. Not everyone has played the dlcs and they are still under the spoiler policy.

And finally, take all rumors, leaks & speculation with a pinch of salt. Until Ubisoft makes it official - "Nothing is confirmed, everything is speculation."

    Now, let's go wild!

Not having Aquila as the final legendary ship in Rogue is such a missed opportunity.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 02:22 PM PDT

Instead we get another random Assassin ship, the Storm Fortress, for some reason. They could have had a cutscene play out when Aquila's health reached 0, and her fleeing in a half ruined state. It would explain why the ship is so fucked up in AC3.

I played almost every single AC game over the course of a month, I had never touched this series before, here are my thoughts for those interested.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 09:29 PM PDT

The order I played them: 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, 3, Black Flag, Unity, Syndicate, Origins, 1, Rogue

AC1: I played this one quite late, I could definitely tell that it hadn't aged well and I didn't even end up beating this one, I don't have much to say about it, it's not the worst but it has its flaws.

AC2: The first one I had played out of all of them, the story nor gameplay didn't really interest me, it seemed very generic and when I finished this game I liked Ezio's character and how he had grown but it was quite generic and the mandatory grinding for sequence 14 or 15 (i can't recall) really put me off. The one thing that I did enjoy was the assassin tombs, they were a nice change of pace.

ACB: I really enjoyed the gameplay of this one, it was smooth and looked cool, the story was good and it had started to pique my interest. The ending of this game really made me hyped to play the next and see what happened.

ACR: This game was very enjoyable but not to the level of brotherhood, I honestly don't have much to say about this one as I am still feeling mixed about this one. The moments in this game I enjoyed most were the Altair memories.

AC3: This one goes down in the list of one of my least favorites in terms of characters, Conner was not an interesting character, I dreaded playing this one. The modern-day was the best in this one because you got to explore and be more a part of the modern-day, unlike the entries in the past.

AC4: this game is my second favorite, I had heard many mixed opinions. At first, I hated Jackdaw sections which were most of the game but in time I started to enjoy it. The gameplay was just so smooth, assassinating felt so good and I enjoyed Edward's character development a lot as it was a first for me to see at the time. (i am aware there was character development in past games, it was not to a level where the main guy refused to join or acknowledge the assassins until the very end) The modern-day wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, sure it was a pace breaker, but they weren't very long and before you knew it, you were back pirating.

ACR: Gameplay is a copy or AC4 but I felt they crammed too much in a 6-hour game. I enjoyed the story, it was nice to see how Templars saw the assassins as all we had been exposed to had been very one-sided at the time. Shay was just a replica of Conner which is why he didn't interest me either.

ACU: I have heard many negative things about this game though I think it's very exaggerated. The story is just played out so brilliantly, the pacing is just right, the protagonist had a very just a regular guy feeling to him and I genuinely felt bad for the guy. The combat system is also very balanced unliked Brotherhood's. I never felt frustrated playing this game except during one of the last missions.

ACS: I hated this one, the story wasn't bad, it had just been done before (Brotherhood). I hated the level system and all the necessary grinding, I had been close to skipping this one 3 times, which I hadn't done until that point.

ACO: I enjoyed this one a lot, though this one also came with its annoying mechanics, one thing that was a step in the right direction was the enjoyable side missions which were a first for me at this point in time. I liked the level of customization in our loadout, the control scheme was a good fit for this game. Bayek gave me a regular guy just trying to help people vibe which is why I enjoyed his character.

I have not yet played odyssey, I am waiting for mt brother to finish it first. I have not mentioned everything, I only mentioned what first came to mind when i first thought of each game.

Does anyone remember Assassin’s Creed Rearmed?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 10:58 PM PDT

So I'm not sure how many of you remember this game or not, but it was a mobile assassins creed game back in 2011 or 2012. I remember playing this on the iPad all the time until one day it just stopped working and no longer appeared on the App Store. I largely forgot about it until I was discussing Assassins Creed games with my friend, and somehow it just clicked that this game existed. I did a bit of research because I forgot what the app was even called, and trying to locate it in purchased after 8 years worth of purchase is gonna be a journey in of itself, so I just googled it and found the game.

I tried to do some more research to find out why the game was pulled but couldn't find anything, just a thread for a Ubisoft Forum of people asking about the game's disappearance. Why did Ubisoft basically delete this game? I feel like if they perused it, they could've really profited off of the mobile market, because it was pretty in depth for a top down mobile game in all honesty.

TL;DR why did Ubisoft get rid of Assassin's Creed Rearmed?

Also, do any of you guys have any memories of AC Rearmed?

Why does Assassin’s Creed 3 get so much hate?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 02:33 PM PDT

I'm playing the series in order and I'm going to be starting 3 soon. I mostly see negativity towards this installment and I was wondering what's so bad about it?

Why I think Bayek still has High Isu Dna like Altair and Ezio etc.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 04:37 PM PDT

I think Bayek still has just as much Isu Dna But the reason the apple didnt activate is because It needed a purpose for the wielder. Bayek did not think the apples were left for them and what happened to Khemu was Over one of the Apples. Desmond, Ezio and Altair, were from the same lineage and all had reasons to use the apple. Bayek on the other hand lost someone over it and fought against the apple weilders to save egypt and to avenge His son. another Example is Flavius purpose with the apple was to get murdered by Bayek that was his destiny.

    What do u think?

Assassin's Creed Ragnarok, Gameplay leaks and dates. Credit to loads of websites I have researched from.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 10:50 PM PDT

Title of the next game is Ragnarok, codenamed Kingdom

Will launch on Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X

Officially announced in February at the upcoming PlayStation event, release date September 29th, 2020.

Story-wise, the game is focused on a revenge quest, with a big part of first civilization story. Realms like Asgard or Jottuneim can be visited in the game, mythical beings such as Odin or Loki play a big part in the story, as well as the Ygdrassil. It will conclude the present-day storyline. Gameplay is the same as odyssey, with improved mechanics and further rpg elements

The player can only play as a single character, Protagonist, woman or male, is called Jora, and become an Assassin during the game. Brotherhood system is back, with recruitable npcs.

The game begins in 845 CE at the siege of Paris with you playing as Jora's father, Rorik who's an ally of the Viking leader Ragnar.

We next cut to 863 as the teenage Jora living in Novagrad? Eventually, we meet assassins and are sent to deliver a package to Ragnar in Uppsala.

Jora becomes a thane to Ragnar allowing the settlement system and we then follow him to Northumbria where the templar Aella kills Ragnar.

Jora returns to Ragnar's sons where the army is formed to combat the templars that control most of Europe

We follow most of the invasion and war, becoming allies with Alfred, conquer Kyiv, help Rollo in Normandy, and overthrow fat Charles in France

Then a templar named Bjorn has an Eden piece that's like a knife that gives him control over Vikings and tries to invade England again.

Then we kill Bjorn in a temple and give his knife to his mother's whose Ragnar's ex?

Also, there are a ton of temples that are each protected by a mythical beast like a giant snake, a dragon, Kraken, and a giant.

Up to 4 player drop in drop out co-op like Ghost Recon Wildlands.

The map is massive. Like all of northern Europe. My source mentioned big cities being York, Paris, and Kyiv. Map includes Scandinavia and a big part of England, including London and Plimouth. Every kingdom was meant to be really unique

Continues heavy RPG mechanics now including different classes and mild skill tree changes based on class. Player class can be changed by a specific character.

Combat is upgraded with more weapon types and special abilities for every weapon grouping.- Each weapon can have runes added, be upgraded, and durability increased.

Weapon durability does now come into play, forcing players to use their weapon pool more effectively and forced to manage a smaller inventory that can be upgraded

Replacing adrenaline is a berserker mode which also activates special runes like fire, frost, or lightning damage.

Sailing returns is less combat-intensive and more focused on exploration and travel including being able to navigate tight rivers and wetlands

Parkour is upgraded with tree climbing and new animations

The hidden blade is back and is far more customizable in terms of cosmetics. Can be upgraded to kill in one stab

Stealth is upgraded by having physical stealth skills such as hiding in mud, snow, crouching in bushes, hiding in bales of hay, etc.- Players can now also hide in crowds of civilians if their outfit/armour is appropriate otherwise it can attract attention.

Players now have a reputation system based on quests completed for people in cities, the town officials, clothing worn, crimes committed, etc. Some quests and story missions can only be completed after reaching a certain reputation with kingdoms.

Conquest battles return to help capture some settlements from templars and players can approach them in a variety of ways.

Players can also find battles between warring kingdoms occurring dynamically throughout the world.

Multiple settlements throughout the world can be captured and controlled for trade and currency gains

Players can organize large scale raids of forts and cities with nearby Viking camps, wait for their own raids, or go in by themselves.

The assassins are believed to have a connection to Odin and dub their raven drone as Odin sight

Difficulty returns but focuses more on parry times, player health, and enemy reaction times rather than enemy health

Levelling is overhauled to allow players to improve skillsets to gain experience, like in Skyrim. As a result, level locking regions and content is gone.

Some skills are unlocked by reaching a high enough skillset level, some must be bought with skill points, and others are unlocked through game/ story progression.

    More research:

    Plot

Reddit seems to be the main source of most of the leaks – although this is not always a reliable source, the majority of information fits together giving the leaks a degree of reliability.

Leaks suggest that the player will begin with a siege of France in the year 845 – we will follow the main character 'Jora' alongside her four other companions that will play a large part in the story and development of the character.

Other leaks reveal that the player will visit many other cities during the campaign, such as London, Paris, York and Kiev.

There are also talks of the possibility of the inclusion of Norse mythology, with versions of the game called 'Valhalla' and 'Mjolnir' being accidently leaked on Amazon and GameStop.

If this is true, we would likely see a return of the infamous ancient artefact known as the Apple of Eden – it's sprung up everywhere else in the AC universe, so why not ancient Scandinavia?

With the inclusion of Norse Mythology, it leaves the game open to go in so many exciting direction – perhaps it will feature the nine realms and characters such as Thor and Odin?

However, at this point, the leak is fairly old, and Developers use codenames for their games so that the real name is not leaked early.

Is 'Ragnarok' simply a place holder name, or has a developer spilled the beans?

    Leaked Images

The leaked images seem to be in the same style as previous Assassin's Creed games, especially if you look at the character posture.

    Starting Location

According to leaks, Ragnarok will be set in the Ninth century Europe, with the game starting at a siege of Paris, France.

It's true that the Assassin's Creed franchise has visited Paris before, with AC Unity set during the French revolution.

However, Ragnarok will clearly be host to a very different France, as the new game will be set 1000 years before Unity.

However, don't take this as gospel, as Paris is just one popular starting location hinted at amongst others.

    Navigation

As for traversing the harsh oceans and dense cities, the sailing mechanic from Black Flag is returning, meaning the Map is expected to be of a grand scale (similar to Black Flag's titanic map).

Although people were hesitant at first with sailing mechanics in Assassin's Creed games, this feature has allowed for a more exciting and immersive travelling experience.

Not to mention, the sailing mechanic has been perfected over multiple instalments.

We are still unsure how land navigation will work, but it is expected that horseback will be the preferred method of transport, like most Assassin's Creed games.

It is known that Vikings, in more tundral areas of Europe, used skis to get around, whether this real-world mode of transport is a viable option, we will have to wait for the reveal.

    Size

With leaks announcing that the map for Ragnarok is the biggest yet it has left us speculating what we may see from Ubisoft.

With the inclusion of sailing it is most likely we will see multiple large-scale maps based around locations in Europe.

Ragnarok is expected to have a map twice the size of its predecessor, Odyssey, which would make it Assassin's Creed's biggest ever map!

However, bigger doesn't always mean better – fans are hoping for more varied scenery in the Ragnarok map, as the Odyssey map was criticised for its monotonous nature.

    Other Locations

A leak has already revealed one mission in the game, in which the player must find some missing children in a water-well.

This is said to be set somewhere in Ireland, possibly Dublin as the city is well known to be founded by the Vikings in 841 CE.

Other cities that are rumoured to be in the game are London, Paris, Kiev and York – essentially, a whole lot of Northern Europe.

Again, London we have visited in a previous title, but we are now 1000 years prior to that game (Assassin's Creed: Syndicate).

And by the way, I'm only a year 7 that recently became obsessed ac so don't come at me if I get anything wrong. I do learn fast for things like this that need tactics.

If you could have any game mechanics from any of the newer assassins creed games put into the Ezio trilogy what would you choose?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 03:08 PM PDT

We really really, REALLY! need a close to modern game set around ww1-1980 to explain why even tho the assassins constantly win in everygame we play the templars beating the assassins in the modern day

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 08:56 AM PDT

Like it doesn't make sense the assassins have won about 10 times we have seen, and yet the assassins are getting there asses handed to them in the modern day, unless its been explained but seriously.

AC Syndicate Limited Resources and Crafting Question

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 11:28 PM PDT

    Hello!

Apologies if this has been asked before but I was wondering if the resources in this game, such as chemicals, are essentially limited - other than money which you can get from the train vault. I've had a look around and it seems you can only get these resources from chests and side quests. Do you get rewards again if you replay a side quest? If not, does this mean that these resources are essentially limited?

The important question I have is will I get enough resources to craft/upgrade every piece of gear / gang upgrade / everything else I might need it for? Or do I have to make sure I only spend them on useful things?

    Thanks!

The soundtrack in this series is amazing!

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 01:26 PM PDT

We all have an opinion on different games in the series. We all have our favorites and the ones that we hate. But i think we can all agree that the soundtrack of ALL AC games is just amazing.

Every game has a unique soundtrack and yet somehow every single one doesn't go far away from the franchise. From Ac1 to Odyssey, every piece of music is amazing and a work of art.

I am not ashamed to admit that i even tear up just listening to some of them.

If you stumble upon the soundtrack before playing the game you go thinking "cool music. The game must be great" . But once you finish the game and hear the soundtrack you get the feeling of being in the shoes of the character of that game. Idk how they do it but whatever ubisoft is doing for the music in these games it is brilliant.

My personal favorite are Ezio's family theme, AC Revelations, AC3 and AC Origins.

I just wanted to thank Ubisoft for making such great games and music.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate: I lost my save in a REALLY strange way...

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 07:25 PM PDT

I was playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate, I was already in level 9, sequence 5 and 45% of game. So far everything was going well... I went to a race and didn't liked my results in the end so I decided to repeat it, after a loading screen about two times, I ended up in the city but the map at the screen was empty! No buildings, roads, nothing! And the district that I've already taken (100%) was 0%. I opened the big map and no missions were available, and I ended up in sequence 1 with 9%, but I was still in level 9 with the same clothes and weapons as before this crazy thing happened.

I tried to close and open the game a several times and check saves at the Ubisoft folder but founded nothing just some saves that I had minutes after that crazy thing happened.

If someone can help me, it would much aprecciated! I don't mind start a new game and all, but damn..

    Thanks for listening!

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Sucks, and I'm upset.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 04:36 PM PDT

I own every Assassin's Creed and love the series. The stories are what drive the games for me. I bought Odyssey on release and played about half of it before getting fatigued by the repetitiveness of it. I've gone back and started to play again and man. It's just so boring. I hate having a million different variations for weapons. I hate the leveling system. Infiltrating forts is easy. Killing mercenaries is easy. I dont even remember what the story was. There are so many quests that add nothing to the feel of the game.

You aren't even a damn Assassin in the game. You're just a demigod that easily kills everything in site. I do like the feeling of being an unstoppable warrior, but not when I'm using these weird skills like summoning a blast into the earth to kick back all the enemies.

The map is beautiful. Exploring it is nice? But it's so big and repetitive that its wasted.

I know there have been posts about this before but I had to get this off my chest. The assassin's creed I once knew and loved is dead. They've gone for a shitty rpg filled with "content" that isn't enriching or fulfilling at all.

Tldr: requiescat in pace Assassin's Creed.

Does anyone still care about syndicate?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 01:58 PM PDT

I was introduced to the series when a friend let me play his copy of syndicate back in 2016. I had never played AC before, and I really liked the game. I didn't understand the main story at all, but I just loved swinging around London and exploring the city. I have since played many games in the series including Origins, Unity, Black flag and AC3. I'm still underway in Oddesey (damn its long)

I have gotten into the community, and explored the lore and discovered that no one really cares much about syndicate. I replayed it not long ago, and I'm still not in doubt about it being the best game.

It doesn't take itself too seriously, it is very polished (to excuse the mess that was unity) and it has an actually completable map. I think most people that have been following the franchise since the first games were sick of this type of gameplay. That is my theory at least.

Please let me know what you think!

Has to be one of the best features in this game as the game is so gosh darn beautiful. Anyone can create some really cool photos and I just love it.

Wonder what this would be like in the next Assassin's Creed Ragnarok, probably would be just as good and even better depending on the graphics and scenery.
