AC:Valhalla - All the info so far summarised in an Easy to Read List.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:36 PM PDT

    1. Ubisoft on Twitter confirmed First Official Gameplay Reveal Trailer to be on 7th of May at Xbox Event. Source: https://twitter.com/assassinscreed/status/1255999463887257600?s=20
    2. The Lead Writer for AC:Revelations, Blackflag and Consultant on Origins Darby McDevitt is in charge of narrative and writing on this game (If you don't know who he is, he's awesome).
    3. Those that worry about narrative Darby McDevitt said the dialogue choices are all going to be much more streamlined so that each choice is more in line with the Eivors personality and context unlike Odyssey where option 1= Laugh 2=Angry 3=Cocky instead it would focus on making sure whatever choice your making would be something Eivor would actually say to make sure protagonist has a solid coherent personality. Source: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/assassins-creed-valhallas-narrative-director-on-cr/1100-6476661/
    4. They said beginning of the game you will be in Norway which will show how bad and horrible it is to continue to live there due to war and lack of resources and then go off to England or more accurately the 4 Kingdoms of England at the time and be able to go back to Norway again whenever you want but majority of the game will be in England and is supposedly huge. Source: Trailer with commentary by Creative Director and Narrative Director: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_nb_YECQoQ
    5. Ashraf Ismail is Creative Director for Valhalla, he was also Director on Black Flag and Origins which instils confidence.
    6. Use of Hidden Blade is Back! Although you get it a little bit later in game like AC2
    7. Cloak/Hood will be in the game and you can choose to bring it up or down.
    8. JorRaptor has confirmed Social Stealth will be in the game but it will have a unique twist. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0d0ViFUy9SI&feature=youtu.be
    9. Eivor is pronounced "Ā-vōr."
    10. You can choose whether your Eivor is male or female.
    11. Writer says they have come up with a way to explain the gender choice in a clever way.
    12. Customization options let you change Eivor's hair, beard, clothing, war paint, and more.
    13. The game takes place in Norway and England.
    14. At the time England was split into 4 Divided Kingdoms East-Anglia, Mercia, Northumbria and Wessex
    15. England has three major cities to visit: London, Winchester, and Jórvík while inc. other towns.
    16. You can dual-wield almost any combination of weapons including Dual Shields.
    17. Every piece of gear is unique.
    18. Gear can be upgraded and customized, and you can use the same equipment from beginning to end if you want to.
    19. You earn new abilities through a system mechanically similar to a skill tree.
    20. Ability to throw axes just like Eivor does in the trailer is in the game as a skill confirmed.
    21. What you can accomplish is more about gear and skills, not character levels.
    22. Words the team have used to describe combat include "brutal," "crunchy," and "weighty." They have said they put it alot of time in making sure there is a real sense of weight and impact during close combat which is awesome especially compared to Odyssey which was opposite.
    23. Combat system seems to be somewhat revamped allowing to bash, dismember and decapitate enemies.
    24. The team is putting extra effort toward drastically increasing enemy variety to keep encounters surprising over a very long game.
    25. Ashraf Ismail Creative Director said Enemies will have weak points hinting at certain skills being required to beat them which could tie into how their going to avoid traditional level gating areas by having them tied to certain abilities. (Need more time to confirm details but if true sounds good).
    26. When asked if features like Mercenary system from Odyssey is there or improved he just said a vague statement about that there are many systems they have improved.
    27. You have a longship you use to go on raids.
    28. Your longship has a crew, including warriors you can customize.
    29. Assaults are big setpiece moments. They are different from raids, and involve attacks on large fortifications.
    30. You build a settlement that serves as your base.
    31. You upgrade buildings in your base which unlock mechanics e.g. Blacksmith, Tatooist etc
    32. Your clan and others you recruit live in your settlement.
    33. People you recruit in the world can be taken with you as your team/ raid party & customised.
    34. Settlement Affects world & characters/ story "It's at the centre of our quests and the centre of the decisions you make. We want players to see the consequences of their actions." Big story arcs will begin and end here, the impact of your decisions rippling through your growing community. You'll see the effects of alliances - such as weddings to forge relationships between clans - and the consequences of "harsh choices you have to face". It's also where you'll see some of the game's romances play out (if you choose to indulge in those)".
    35. Yes Romance Options are coming back.
    36. Raven will be the new Eagle Equivalent Companion but will have new abilities and have confirmed this mechanic and exploration to be less UI Heavy and more rewarding e.g. if you notice a distraction somewhere it's probably because there's some content there.
    37. Naval Battles scaled down compared to Origins/Odyssey no sitting in boat firing cannons etc as Vikings just didn't do that, instead it will be used as the fastest mode of travel via waterways etc
    38. Co-Op is out of the question, it is confirmed Valhalla is Single Player Only however on the official Ubisoft AC:Valhalla Website it says the following; Share your custom Raider - Recruit mercenary Vikings designed by other players or create and customise your own to share online. Sit back and reap the rewards when they fight alongside your friends in their game worlds. Source: https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/game/assassins-creed/valhalla
    39. Hidden Ones and Order of Ancients (a.k.a. Assassins and Templars) are in the game.
    40. At some point, Eivor meets Assassins, works alongside them, and uses a hidden blade.
    41. King Aelfred of Wessex (later known as Alfred the Great) is a villain figure in trailer but Writer says Both the Vikings and Certain Figures like King Alfred will be a lot more nuanced.
    42. Layla's story in the present day continues.
    43. Ubisoft Montreal is leading development on Valhalla. The studio's last two Assassin's Creed games were Origins and Black Flag.
    44. 14 other Ubisoft Studios are supporting Valhalla's development, along with external partner Sperasoft.
    45. Valhalla is a cross-gen game, coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X alongside currently available platforms.
    46. The game will release during the 2020 holiday season.

If you got this far down the list I thank you for reading, I hope this breeds an amazing discussion.

I will gradually add more to this post as more information gets revealed.

If you find this post useful & think others would too then up vote it.

You guys are way jumping to conclusions

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:00 AM PDT

A LOT of the old games didn't have stealthy cinematic trailers.

AC 3 was straight up a warzone

AC 4 was Edward slaughtering people in the open and blasting his cannons with a slight sneak at the end

Revelations was just Ezio fighting people

Literally what do you want them to do to make it "assassins creed"

With the new Assassin’s Creed revealed: I just want to SINCERELY THANK the developers for introducing us to Discovery Tour! I use it to teach my daughters World History during the COVID-19 quarantine! Looking forward to seeing it in the new game!

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:14 AM PDT

This video game mode has become an extremely entertaining, engaging, and fun resource for learning about the real history of the world. All 3 of my daughters, aged 3 (Pre-Kindergarten), aged 8 (3rd grade), aged 13 (7th grade), are IN LOVE with having the ability to free roam an entire section of a continent that's full of life and knowledge. My family sits around for hours watching and listening to the dialogue. They literally wake up for our home school sessions super excited to start our history lesson! And they retain the knowledge they learn from the Virtual Tours and Daily Life so much better than the sometimes-ultra-dry documentaries that schools sometimes force you to watch.

We're going through AC Origins and AC Odyssey currently, but they're especially loving Odyssey's Discovery Tour — and I can understand why. Odyssey's Discovery Tour is a little more evolved than Origins as you have actual Quizzes you can take with your Tour Guide and it makes it feel more immersive and satisfying when you succeed!

Again, Ubisoft...thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the years and years of hard working research and endless nights of dedication you guys put towards your craft. It is extremely unique and special and I hope you guys continue to iterate Discovery Tour in all of your future games! It would be even more amazing if you went and made a Discovery Tour for the previous time periods from Assassin's Creed's of the past such as the Italian Renaissance, the Holy Crusades, or the Age of Pirates — that would be just breathtakingly spectacular! You guys might even corner a new market in virtual classroom education! Anyways, my family and I thank you talented men and women!

We cannot wait for the new Assassin's Creed, and for its Discovery Tour about Norse mythology, culture, and Viking history!

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla | Custom Fan Art

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:13 PM PDT

Assassin's Creed is dead, Long live Assassin's Creed.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:16 AM PDT

I see a lot of complaints about how recent Assassin's Creed titles; Origins, Odyssey, and now the new release, don't "represent the core values of the franchise" or "aren't real Assassin's Creed games." ...

That leads me to ask: Is that really a bad thing at all?

Assassin's Creed was never going to stay the same forever. The first release was in 2007; over 10 years ago. It was a small, humble affair, taking barely ten hours to complete. Since then, the franchise has morphed into a series of gargantuan historically-inspired-epic-action-adventure games.

I always believed these games were about exploring historical sets in the most direct and absorbing way... Showing the player a world they have never seen and fill it with loads of fun stuff to do that shows them even more.

Personally, I think the recent games are the best the franchise has ever been. I have played AC 1, 2, 3, BF, Origins and Odyssey. My personal favorite is: Black Flag, but Odyssey is a very close second. I look forward to playing the new release later this year. Rant over!

    Odin is with us!

Both male and female Eivor are canon apparently

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 04:57 PM PDT

Holy shit. They finally did the one thing I’ve wanted since assassins creed 1.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:41 AM PDT

You can dismember and decapitate enemies. This actually makes me hyped for the game. Also I'm wondering how this new combat system is going to be like.

(Source is on the assassins creed website)

«Raids will be more action-packed and brutal than anything Assassin's Creed has seen before, thanks to a visceral new combat system that lets you bash, dismember, and decapitate your foes»

Getting the old AC vibes in the latest reveal

So, I made this cover concept for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. What are your thoughts?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:01 PM PDT

There's going to be new complex stealth system added to the game

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:26 AM PDT

On local shop (Slovakia) you can already pre-order the new game. In the about page there's written that you can mask yourself with snow or dirt depending on where you are. You will also use the crow raven like Senu in Origins.

I know it has only been a few hours and my reference was pretty pixellated so I couldn't completely capture his likeness, but I was so hyped so I drew Eivor. Super excited to play!

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 04:44 PM PDT

Darby on writing Eivor: “I don't think I'm approaching Eivor in any different way than I approached Edward. You still need a character with a clear motivation, a clear set of relationships, a clear set of wants and needs, flouted desires, and ambitions.“

Figured this would ease some people's minds about the dialogue/gender options

Place your bets on the new single foreign curse word/phrase that everyone will use in ACV.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 03:13 PM PDT

We've had bastardo, we've had neket iadet, we've had malakas. Which word will Ubisoft choose from the Scandinavian languages and dialects to fill our ears with this time around?

    Personally, my bet's on helvete.

Eurogamer article about setting/base/villain and your character

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:04 AM PDT

Sorry if I'm saying something that's already been said or is common knowledge, but I just thought of something

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:17 AM PDT

So with the new title of the game being AC Valhalla, I noticed a cool coincidence (or maybe not?) Maybe it's already been said and if So, let me know and I'll remove the post.

So the past two games were titled Origins and Odyssey(but you'd already know that of course) I noticed that, with the addition of Valhalla, the trio is complete. We got the beginning(Origins), the middle/journey(Odyssey) and now the end/death(Valhalla). I hope that this also means this will be the end of this little trio of mythology-focussed RPG AC games

I think this would be acceptable and kind of cool. Plus, if this is true, it would give the people who aren't really fans of the new mythology-focussed games something to look forward to.

Again, if this is common knowledge, let me know and I'll delete this, no problem.

Edit: a few things I should add are: -I actually have no problem with these recent RPG elements implemented -I know the future of the franchise depends on the performance of new games rather than symbolism like this.

Bayek is written so well (spoilers for origins)

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:26 AM PDT

So I'm midway through a play through of assassins creed origins and I actually think Bayek is just as good as Ezio (probably gonna get a lot of hate for that). If Bayek did get a sequel (which I pray he does) to develop his character more, I think he will be a way better character to Ezio.

One reason is that he can go from a man who is friendly to little children, to petrifyingly (that's not a word lmao) angry. Like when he stabs Rudjek in the face at the beginning of the game and gives the speech: "Sleep? I never sleep. I just wait. In the shadows. And I will kill you all. Everyone who sniffed the air that day in Siwa." (I get chills every time).

Also the way he is so protective over his son and it's his death that develops his character more. It starts his hatred for the order of ancients and so we can relate to his character.

I just pray ubisoft gives Bayek a sequel.
