Finally I finished Assassin's Creed Syndicate today.

    [ A GAME TO REMEMBER ❤️ ]
I have been playing Assassin's creed Syndicate for like about a Month, and today is the day when I will have to say FAREWELL to this game. It's been a nice time and I will never forget this game. I felt same for Assassin's Creed 2 and now this. I feel so emotional today. (I know I know!!)

How would you structure the next era of Assaasins Creed games to please fans of the original games and the ancient world trilogy?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 09:09 AM PDT

There's no debate that AC Origins marked a radical shift in the series, and the fanbase remsins divided amongst those who prefer the old style, and those who prefer the newer games. That said, if you were in charge of the series, what would you do to reconcile these without feeling like you're just taking a few steps back?.

For example what era would you pick? How would you tweak combat? What about map design? Larger city, more open countryside or a mix of both? What shouldthe story focus on? What elements would you bring back or keep, which are important to toss out?

I wonder if they will ever create another trailer similar to Revelations

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 07:47 PM PDT

Say what you will about the game, I personally enjoyed it very much (bombs were fun!),

But the trailer.. man that trailer was beyond hype and so so beautiful. From the cinematography to the epic non stop action.

Truly a trailer to stand above all AC trailers. imo

[Spoiler] Black box missions in Siege of Paris. A step in the right direction. Spoilers for Siege of Paris, AC Unity, and Syndicate.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 09:16 PM PDT

When I first heard that black box missions were returning in the Siege of Paris, I was skeptical. Given the stealth mechanics, I thought there would be no point. I kept thinking, "Unity and Syndicate set the standard for how to do these missions. How do you compare?" While some were a bit underwhelming, they felt very good to do. I actually enjoyed them. The unique kills, or, "Assassination Events", as this game calls them were, well, unique.

The first one with Bishop Engelwin was slightly underwhelming, although there was a fair amount of deja vu when I first killed him. It was kind of satisfying to drive your blade into his throat for a very bloody, yet stylish kill.

I also really liked the Little Mother assassination where you dip the knife in blood, and then kill her with it. I expected Eivor to take the knife and stab Little Mother one or more times in the stomach and chest. But nope, Ubisoft had other plans, and Eivor stabbed her in the eye, making for a memorable kill.

The black box assassination where you have to kill the bishop was really cool because you got to drop a cross on him while he conducts a sermon, and tries to offer the people hiding in the church hope, and boost morale. Next thing you know, the symbol of their faith kills the man who gives messages through God. But it's thrown out the window once it's revealed that he somehow survived AFTER HAVING A GIANT FUCKING CROSS DROPPED ON HIS ASS! Sorry. That just really doesn't make sense to me.

Overall, the black box missions were fun, and as the title says, it's a step in the right direction. Although Unity and Syndicate have a tie for the best black box unique assassination with Sivert from sequence 3 at Notre-Dame in Unity, and the Asylum cadaver kill from Syndicate. I'm interested in hearing what your favorite black box assassinations were from those games if you've played them. I'm also interested in hearing what your favorite black box mission was from the dlc.

I truly hope that Ubisoft does bring these missions back, as they do add a nice level of enjoyment when it comes to giving people who have their own play styles the opportunity to conduct business their own way. However, they could use a bit of improvement in terms of depth, and a tad bit more complexity in the missions. I think that with enough polishing, and tweaking, they could return to their former glory.

My Top 4 Most Wanted Historical Era's In Assassin's Creed.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:09 AM PDT

Hello my name is Gyro Miller and you may remember me from my post about the Assassin's Creed character I want. If you haven't seen/read that post, then I suggest you do because I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the idea that I presented in that post. However, I am not hear to promote a post, I'm here to make a new post that presents a new idea of mine. Today, I want to give you a list of My Top 4 Most Wanted Historical Era's In Assassin's Creed. This list isn't something that rates the best historical eras we've seen so far, this list is only for historical eras we haven't seen (like The Wild West or The Great Depression). This list is purely my opinion and it is what I want to see, so if you disagree with one of my picks, then let me know in the comments and lets have a discussion about it. Anyways let us begin the list, starting with #4 and working our way up.

    4. The Salem Witch Trials: This era would be an interesting sight to see because of the potential story you could have. Imagine playing as a female assassin during The Salem Witch trials and you have to figure out what is really going on. I think that out of every historical era on this list, this one is the most likely to happen because of the email that can be found in Assassin's Creed Black Flag. In that game, you can find an email with various time periods, locations, as well as paintings that hint at future AC games. One of the paintings, I believe, was a painting that depicted a woman during The Salem Witch Trials. Even though I ranked in the 4th spot, I do believe that The Salem Witch Trials would be an interesting era to play in.

    3. The Great Depression: I know that this era is way too modern for something like Assassin's Creed, however, I believe that it's still something to see in a Assassin's Creed Game. Imagine playing as an Assassin running through New York City during The Great Depression, imagine the cinematic shots you could have. Just think of the possibility of story, characters, side missions, etc. It would be incredible to see what the Templars and Assassins were doing during The Great Depression. In my mind, the ideal story for a game set in The Great Depression is the story of a ex-detective becoming an Assassin as he struggles to find work and make money.

    2. The Wild West: I know what you're wondering "The Wild West is an empty space and desert, how can that work?!" Allow me to introduce 2 games that have a lot of empty space, those games being Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Origins. I do understand that Assassin's Creed Black Flag isn't empty at all (hell I'm currently playing the game right now), most of the map (if not the entire map) is just ocean with little bits of lands sprinkled through out. Assassin's Creed Origins proves that a game that takes place in a desert can work with the right story. Imagine playing the cowboy fantasy, as you ride on your trusty stead into the blazing sunset, it's something that I would love to see and experience.

    1. The Civil War: Assassin's Creed 3 taught me that a game set during a war can work. Assassin's Creed Unity taught me that game that features a Templar and an Assassin teaming up can also work. So why not have a can that can do both of those things, but better? That's where The Civil War come into play on this list. Imagine playing a game where you play as an Assassin on one of the sides of The Civil War and you meet a Templar on your side, after putting aside your differences because of The Civil War, you come brothers at arms and you grow a bond between you and the Templar. If that doesn't sound like fun, then imagine playing as an Assassin during The Civil War and your target is your brother who's a Templar and/or on the other side of the war. If that doesn't sound like a blast to play through, then Idk what does.

Now that my list is complete, I want to hear about your thoughts and opinions on a historical era you would like to see. Let me know about your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment in the comment section. I would love to hear your choices for a historical era to have a Assassin's Creed Game set in. Let the discussion begin and I'll see you all on my next post!

    Second Code Deciphered! Where now??

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 11:48 AM PDT

So this is the deciphered text:

DIONYSIUS VOLUNTATES CUM SPHAERA INCLINAVIT SED EUM SALVARE NON SUFFECIT

Huge thanks to u/YefimShifrin !! They found the key to the cipher and appear to be some kind of mastermind of codes!

Loosely translated with google and fixing errors, my interpretations in parenthesis:

DIONYSIUS sphere will be inclined but they have not been able to (Dionysius is Denis the Holy, or Saint Denis)

His work will continue the story of her head is cut FACIAM (Again Saint Denis, the headless Holy Guy)

FALSE drafted and the atmosphere INTRC set delusions left they did (?)

But she fears it paired Now you say that my mind is unguarded and other species do not hear or see (Other species do not hear or see, eagle vision of course)

A point to the left as possible DO NOT KNOW (To the west)

We have mentioned Dionysius is where I have found the play is too dangerous to employ ordinary gathering

(Ordinary gathering could again have something to do with eagle vision)

    ——

If I understand this right, this leads us just to where we found it basically, the west of Saint Denis. So either the tablet was supposed to be at another place initially or I'm entirely wrong with the translation and interpretation!

Either way it seems the Isu text is hiding the actual answer.

What are the naval combat similarities between black flag and rogue?

    Posted: 13 Aug 2021 12:44 AM PDT

Alright so I just finished black flag and started up rogue, but one thing that worries me is the naval combat. I absolutely hate naval combat with all my heart because it feels so tedious, but I was able to put up with it in black flag because I enjoyed the story. I also hated trying to grind and destroy ships for their loot which took up a good portion of my time which I would rather be spending on land doing actual assassin stuff. Will this be a common occurrence in rogue? Is there more or less naval combat? Thanks for the help.

Some thoughts about Siege of Paris, after going into it right after replaying Wrath of the Druids. Spoilers ahead.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 07:03 AM PDT

I replayed the game recently, and finished both the full game and Wrath of the Druids just a couple of days ago. I've been pumped ever since for Siege of Paris. Now that I had the chance to play it, I must say...

What a massive disappointment! They dropped the ball so hard. I hated every single character, either friend or foe. The map was crazy small! When I saw the size of it, I got hyped, thinking Paris itself will be an amazing city to explore. But instead it was barely larger than Dublin!

I loved Ireland. It was big, and felt so much better designed than the base game's England. France is just so boring.

And those rebel 'missions' were just the worst, the absolute bottom of the barrel of mission format, and you had to do it over and over again!

And before the release, everyone kept saying how this DLC brings the Assassins Creed back in Assassins Creed. How the hell does it do that? They have some pretty basic blackbox assassinations, true, but despite this gameplay feature, this DLC is so far removed from Assassins Creed that it makes Odyssey feel more assassin-y than AC1 and Unity combined!

Waste of a day going through this DLC, it's such a massive drop from Wrath of the Druids.

The age old Unity V Syndicate debate - I’ve just finished them both

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:14 AM PDT

So I bought the first AC game at release and wanted to love it but could never get into it. Over years I kept seeing new releases and being tempted but never pulling the trigger. My favourite franchise was Splinter Cell so I should have been hooked but I just found the narrative really weak in the first game and couldn't quite commit.

I found a bundle recently of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate and finally pulled the trigger. I completed Unity first and last night completed Syndicate. I know there's a lot of 'which one is better,' 'actually they're both shit' chat on here about them. Having played nothing else for the last couple of months here's my view...

I thought Unity was fabulous and made me realize that the real reason I couldn't get into the first game was the setting. Paris is my favourite city IRL so it was great to have that as the backdrop for the game. I found the game much more difficult than Syndicate (maybe because it was my first AC game and I was just better at them by the time I played Syndicate). The world in Unity is much more detailed - you enter many more buildings, there are many more people on the streets etc. I found the setting and the mechanics really great. The story not so much. I couldn't follow it and just ended up treating missions like cool things to do rather than a narrative.

Syndicate was the opposite. I really liked the story and got into it hard. I played 90% of the time as Evie as the Jacob character was a bit of a dickhead. However, London itself didn't feel as good as the Paris in Unity. It's almost entirely played in the streets (which are empty) with very little building entry. The carriage driving is...ok I guess and the zip line thing just fucked part of of what makes AC games great (the parkour element).

My main gripe on Syndicate though is the (lack of) difficulty. By halfway through the game Jacob was like Mike Tyson with a knife, just evaporating anyone that came near me. At the same time Evie was invisible when standing still and so good with throwing knives (and had so many of them they were functionally infinite) that the gang stronghold tasks became "pick a high spot and one shot everybody."

I really enjoyed both of them for the opposite reason. I'm going to try black flag next.

Ancient stone tablet with encrypted text in the Siege of Paris expansion.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 04:50 PM PDT

Hey all. I dont know if anyone has posted about this yet, but after a quick peek over this sub, I dont see any mentions of this. Basically, I was exploring the area NorthEast of Paris, when I found an Ancient Stone Tablet high in a church tower. It appears to be in some kind of cipher, but after putting the first line into whatever google's first result for a cipher decryption tool is, I got a bunch of nonsense.

Here Is the writing itself, and here is the location

I am have some experience with decrypting the battlefield easter eggs, but I am by no means good at it, so I have absolutely no clue what this is, or what the significance could be. The only link I could think of, is the letter is addressed "Octavvs." which possibly could be any of the members of the Octavius family, but again, I could be, and probably am wrong.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:25 PM PDT

Every single time I enter Paris, I keep getting a pop up on my screen that for some reason my game won't auto save. I uninstalled the entire game and then installed again. The black box missions in ac Valhalla are good, but there's still the unchanged and unfixed broken stealth mechanics.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 12:02 PM PDT

The black box missions that just came out are really good and remind me of unity and syndicate. With that though, they haven't changed the stealth at all. Enemy detections are broken and still don't work sometimes. Not to mention you can't replay that mission after completing it unless you save before, so if you get seen and didn't save you may have to go back a little unless autosave works. They should bring back enemy detection from unity and syndicate.

Cursed Weapons were a great game changer in Origins, and something Valhalla desperately needs

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 09:08 AM PDT

I'm loving Valhalla, I think more than a lot of folks seem to, but one of the problems I'm having is that I'm not even finished with the main campaign, much less the DLC, and it's become too easy. I had it at hard and bumped it up to hardest, but there's still rarely any feeling of danger (maybe it's the health regen upgrade that's just OP, in which case that's on me for not turning it off). What's worse, higher difficulty just being "up enemy health" turns fights into a longer slog, but not a more exciting one.

One of my favorite things in a game like this is "high lethality" as an option, and that's what Cursed Weapons (and there was a similar upgrade on Odyssey) did. Your health is capped, but you do way more damage. It meant a couple hits would end you, but the same was true for most of your enemies. It turned every encounter, even against a few basic enemies, into a tense and potentially deadly experience that never felt unfair.

I'm playing through Wrath of the Druids and it's really hitting me that Valhalla could really use something like this. At the highest difficulty I'm fighting enemies where dozens of heavy sword hits just slowly chip away at their health, but it doesn't feel at all risky to be hit a few times. I think Cursed Weapons could really help with that (and give a New Game+ a unique feel if that ever comes around)

Mixing Raven and Hidden armor sets any good?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:55 AM PDT

If you don't care about looks of the armor set in AC Valhalla, wouldn't mixing the Raven and Hidden sets give you the bonuses of both sets, being that Raven needs 3 piece and Hidden only needs 2 in order to get the stat bonus? I tend to play more Assassin style with Hunter mixed in, but think if I can get two bonuses with one armor set it seems good to use a combo. Am I wrong?

A Guide to killing Janissaries in AC REVELATIONS

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 06:58 AM PDT

Ac revelations combat is considered worse than brotherhood by many because of a single enemy type: The janissaries.

These guys are to Ezio what Cell is to Goku. They have adapted to Ezio's main tactics, use them against him and they are green. Their defense is impenetrable, they parry every strike, dodge every kick and can survive up to three counter and combo (kill chain) attacks, making them the most resilient enemy type since ac1's templar knights (Yes there's a grand total of four papal guards in Brotherhood's Rome but they are not as hard to fight as they can be kicked and insta killed). They also use ranged weapons against you, run faster than you and can climb very quickly.

A lot of players find these enemies a chore to fight. I know I used to. Since last week, however, I have loaded my old revelations save where I had completed everything and the only thing left to do is parkour and combat (which are my favorite things anyway). Since this is an end game save, the only enemies roaming the map are: Janissaries, Agiles and Elites. Agiles and Elites are very easy to kill by using any of the main tactics like kill chaining, counter them, grabbing and slicing their throats, disarming etc. The janissaries of course gave me more trouble and I started using various methods to kill them and I also discovered some ways by chance.

Before I get into that though, I want to say a few things about the combat in revelations. A lot of people claim that revelations combat is very easy, just like in brotherhood and 2. While that is true to some extent, there are ways to make the combat quite challenging. If you are looking for challenge I highly suggest to remove all armor (by replaying an earlier memory which has an unarmored Ezio or just don't buy armor at all) and do not use any medicine. Just these two things will make Ezio very vulnerable and easy to kill. Of course, a fully armored and kitted out Ezio is unstoppable and the game strongly promotes upgrading your armor, much to the detriment of the gameplay itself.

Please keep in mind that these are my findings and there might be even more ways to kill these fine gentlemen and I simply haven't found them yet. Furthermore, I don't know if any of these are common knowledge and this post is completely pointless but I haven't seen any YouTube guides or reddit posts giving tips on fighting these enemies. The game doesn't give any of these tips either (in classic assassin's creed fashion)

So with all that said, here are the best ways to kill janissaries:

    • Counter steal + attack. The counter steal is really the best tactic to use against these enemies. It opens them up for combos which can be chained to other enemies. Simply countering just takes away some of their health but it doesn't start a combo chain.
    • Ranged attacks. Throwing knives and hidden gun are fast, reliable and cheap ways to take away parts of their health. A single shot or throwing knife will take away a third of a Janissary's health. Poison dart is insta kill. You can, of course, use bombs if you want to kill every enemy instantaneously.
    • Counter grab + ground stab. When a janissary grabs you and you counter grab them (Defense button+grab button) they fall down and can be insta killed with a weapon attack before they get up.
    • Wall run + assassinate a tired janissary. When a janissary is hunched over, looking tired, it means he is one combo or counter away from death. When a tired janissary attacks you can immediately kill them or you can combo from another enemy into the tired janissary and kill them like that. A very good trick, however, is to wall run and air assassinate them. Normally, janissaries will deflect your attempts at air assasinating them, except when they are tired. So when you spot a janissary who is close to death you can simply run up and wall and then assassinate them very quickly.
    • Now for the final method to kill janissaries: FISTS. Janissaries are very susceptible to getting pummeled. In fact a certain fist combo will insta kill a full health janissary. That combo is the counter steal + punch combination. It will result in death. Not in pain on the ground like the regular fist takedowns, but death. So Counter steal + punch= instant kill even when they are at full health. There's a small timing window that you need to get right but it's very easy.

    Tips and warnings

The counter steal+punch technique won't start a kill chain. It will simply take out a janissary right away. Moreover, enemies will try to interrupt this combo 90% of the time. Don't worry, even if you get hit the janissary will die. It's not like the other kill animations where enemies might survive if Ezio gets interrupted. Also, you're not locked in animation when fist-killing the janissary. You can still disarm an enemy attacking you, including janissaries. In fact, this is the only method I found to successfully disarm them.

When a janissary tries to attack you while you are doing a combo or counter animation on another enemy will cause them to get insta killed. This is incredibly useful because it means that you if you have a combo chain going, you are even more lethal towards the Janissaries. There are exceptions however as janissaries can choose to simply shoot or kick you. You can't dodge their shot but you can try to stop them by hitting them. This is very hard to do when you are locked in animation when fighting other guards and a lot of times you will simply get shot. Their kicks are very fast and hard to dodge but they can still be dodged. If you have a combo going and dodge their kick, you won't lose your combo. Remember that right after their kick, they will strike with their sword. So dodge their kick and counter kill them.

    How to "taunt" janissaries

The grab technique: The most annoying thing about janissaries is that you have to wait for them to attack you because you can't get through their defense. They parry every strike and dodge every kick and can't be grabbed. Taunting has been removed from revelations so you can't entice them to attack that way. It seems that fighting them is frustrating because there's not much you can do aside from waiting them to do something or just shooting them, or throwing knives at them. There is a trick, however, that most people don't know about. When you try to grab janissary they will deflect your grab and then they will do a sword attack 90% of the time. Therefore you don't have to wait for the janissary to attack you. You can just try to grab them and they will attack you. You can then prepare for a counter steal, counter kill or dodge combo. This massively improves fighting janissaries and takes away their unpredictability and the tedium of the fight.

    To recap

    1. When a janissary attacks: Counter steal and attack him with a weapon. Then, move on to the next enemy and insta kill any janissary who tries to interrupt your animations. Beware of Janissaries moving in to kick you or aiming at you.
    2. Counter steal and punch them to insta kill.
    3. Wall run assassinate a tired janissary or just counter/combo kill them to start a kill chain
    4. Grab them to make them attack you and skip the wait.

Hopefully this post is comprehensible enough for anyone to boot up the game and perform everything I have instructed. I also want this post to change people's opinions about the combat in revelations for the better. It is, in my opinion, the best combat system in the franchise because it looks great, can be made challenging and offers a variety of options to be an efficient and lethal assassin.

Feel free to add any of your own findings in the comments and I will edit them in this post.

Edit: I found some older posts talking about the counter steal+punch combo so it was a known tactic.
