I have NEVER forgiven Assassin's Creed Rouge

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 07:06 PM PDT

I don't mind any of the plot holes, or the colonial assassin's looking incompetent and breaking the creed constantly, I like Rouge and it's existence is worth a few blemishes.

But I have never gotten over them misleading people on the cover and in all the promotional art to think he would still wear a hood with his templar outfit only for everyone to find out the hard way that wasn't the case. It bothers me every time I replay this game. If there's one thing. ONE that AC:R Remastered should have corrected, it's giving Shay a hooded variant as an OPTION. If they weren't gonna give him one, they shouldn't have put it on all the promo art. Yeah , he's a templar now and they usually don't wear hoods but templars usually don't go running around with hidden blades either and yet him AND haytham the grand master of the colonial assassin's go running around hiding in bushes, climbing buildings and going stabby stab. Also read somewhere that "templars don't allow hoods" and that, in addition to "well he's a templar now" both fall apart when you remember "Duncan Warpole" was a thing and got crowed a templar immediately and got to keep all his Assassin gear.

This may be a petty thing to hold a grudge against, but I am still and will always be bitter about it.

Missing the final wealth node in [SPOILER] location. (AC valhalla)

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 11:57 PM PDT

I have all mysteries but the offering statue completed, which includes the deer one. I just got the wealth node at that mountain where you are supposed to fight fenrir in an open arena area. (Didn't fight Fenrir yet, though, except in the cutscene.)

Sooo yeah...is there a main story quest related tear you get? Because otherwise, I have the 2 that most people miss, as in the one behind Fenrir arena and the Deer one.

Just to clarify, I do mean the Asgard location. Just tryna' not break rules, and IDK if this is what you call a spoiler or not.

PS just did a 360 and saw absolutely nothing but my quest objective and the offering mystery on my compass.

Valhalla has a post-apocalyptic vibe and I love it

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 02:48 AM PDT

Valhalla has a cool "post apocalyptic" feel to it

I'm about 30 hours in and love stumbling across these "cursed areas". Very creepy and dark addition to the AC lore.

Historically accurate or not, the crumbling, ruined feel of the architecture helps add to the "dying world" feeling. The mossy stonework gives it a "nature reclaiming the land" feel.

Of course any areas with boggy/swampy ambience, the foggy, misty weather, the cawing of crows and ravens, the oily torches in the dark, the haunting ambient music....all of it creates this medieval post apocalyptic feel which I personally think is superb, given that the Viking invasion would have felt incredibly apocalyptic to the Saxon locals. We think of "post-apocalyptic" as something thst happens in our future, however there will have been many "apocalypses" throughout history so of course, we have lived through many "post-apocalyptic" periods.

Going around helping, what amounts to, warlords conquer their rivals really gives this time period a Medieval Mad Max feeling.

I just stumbled across a nun, praying in a ruined church littered with dead bodies...won't spoil anything but the little touches like this really add to the dark tone. Its fantastic and very different to the other AC games, especially coming after Odyssey with its glorious Greek summer vibe.

Will AC1 ever get a rerelease or something?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 08:43 PM PDT

I've noticed that mostly every mainline AC game from last gen has had a port or something to PS4/XB1 and I was wondering if there was a possibility of them making a port or of some sort

Why Did I Ever Skip This Series?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 10:25 AM PDT

I'm here to say that I majorly fucked up by skipping this entire series of games growing up, although I am very excited to deep dive into each, so far my time with AC 2 has been awesome. I also got around to a bit of Black Flag and I gotta say, I'm just not finding anything to be disappointed in! I was never a Ubisoft fan, like ever. I never found interest in the titles they released. I came very very close to buying Immortals, but the demo changed my mind.

What I'm really here to say is this: Whatever game you've been holding off on for years and years and years, it's time to finally play it. You're gonna have fun. It's gonna be great. No matter what the graphics look like or what others say, just play it already. I'll be back at a later point to give my final thoughts on the end of AC 2!

Playing AC Origins right now on PS4

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 11:59 AM PDT

I'm going for the platinum with no DLC. I've completed 130 quests, including seven farmers and killed all 8 boats captains but it won't give me the achievement for either... these are the missing ps4 achievements.

    Seven Farmers

    and

    Where's my black flag

    Any ideas??

Notable Horror Moments in the Assassin's Creed Series

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 04:33 PM PDT

While focusing on the action-adventure genre, Assassin's Creed, like most AAA franchises, has explored multiple subgenres, whether through story memories, side missions, side activities, etc....Even if it's just for a moment or moments, there have been instances where the creators have delved into horror motifs.

I'm curious if you guys have a particular horror scene that you enjoyed or that shocked you. For me, one that stood out was the human skin mission in Unity with the tanner.

Playing through AC Origins, I'm already enjoying myself way more than my entire 130 hrs in Valhalla, anyone else?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 08:23 AM PDT

I played Origins back when it first released and I only spent about 20 hours in it before dropping it because I had a big move coming up and a plateful of other things. Now that I'm revisiting and playing properly, it really is an amazing game.

While I enjoyed and was entertained with Valhalla, playing Origins again, really, really makes me see the faults and steps back Valhalla took.

The story, the smoothness of Bayek's movement, the smooth parkour, the lively, lived in world, towns and cities, the quite still beautiful graphics (especially in 4K HDR, I actually like the graphics more in this than Valhalla for some reason), small little details (the way water drips off Bayek, the fire and water effects, the shooting stars you can see for example) and the pretty damn good combat, weapons, nice outfits etc...I feel that most, if not all, of these things took a step in the wrong direction in Valhalla.

Covid aside, why is this? Is it not the same team who made Origins? Same in name only perhaps? Less from the heart and more from the metaphysical monetary organ?

It's crazy how I feel Origins is a "newer" game than Valhalla.

    Anyone feel similarly?

Do Ezio's robes make him conspicuous in a crowd? Isn't this counter-intuitive to his assassination plans?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 05:26 AM PDT

The pure white robes, the shining metal on his belt and the decorative armour make him look like a character out of a play.
Is there a logical explanation to this?

What got you into the series?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 03:37 PM PDT

So, I'm really excited for the Steam Deck. My laptop was good for most of what I wanted to play, but it couldn't handle the majority of games after the PS3/Xbox 360 era, so I'll be able to play a lot of games I couldn't before (including AC Origins which I bought not realising it couldn't run) and play games on the go (thinking of getting Brotherhood and Revelations when they go on sale just for this). But one of the biggest things for me right now is the nostalgia for Assassin's Creed IV on Wii U.

Being the only modern console I had for most of my teens, my options were limited, but one of my favourite games to play on it was Black Flag. I have such good memories of going through the story multiple times, trying to stealth my way through at any possible opportunity, and just sailing around on the open seas. Seeing the Steam Deck in action is bringing back so many great memories of playing on the game pad, and I can't wait to start a new playthrough when I get Steam Deck in Q1 2022 (maybe this time I'll finally get 100%).

It's one of my favourite games of all time and my introduction to the series which got me thinking where others started. Maybe you started with Black Flag, like me. Maybe you were there since Altaïr. Or maybe you only started with Valhalla. Regardless of what it is, I'd love to hear about it.

Do you think Ubisoft will continue this mythology thing for future games?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 04:27 PM PDT

Also what if they run out from mythologies will they just comeback to Isu being more Sci-fi and they forget about all this fantasy thing or they just will made up new things?

Just finished Origins. About to start Odyssey. I have a few questions about Odyssey

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 07:28 AM PDT

Hi there. I just finished Origins' main story with a lot of side quests not done. I only did side quests because the main story needed me to level up. I can say that I'm pretty satisfied with Origins because I always love Egypt since my childhood and haven't had the opportunity to visit it, so exploring the world was truly an experience to me.

But one thing that bothers me the most about Origins is that the amount of grinding that needs to be done with side quests in order to do the main story. I have only played AC 1,2,3,4, Revelations, and Brotherhood and I liked them because as long as I can remember i was never forced to do side quests if I just want to focus on the main story.

So, my questions are: 1. is grinding also a thing in Odyssey? I mean is the grinding is as hard as it was in Origins? 2. Which character do I have to choose? I always liked male assassins because I feel more connected (?) to them. But I heard that people recommended Kassandra a lot more because of a,b,c (I didn't read cause I'm afraid of getting spoilers). Which character would you recommend me to choose? Knowing that I liked male assassins better but on the other hand Kassandra is an assassin that everyone seems to be talking about? 3. Now that I have finished Origins, I want to know which places that you consider beautiful? I just discovered the camera mode and would like to explore with it. I visited few places but maybe I missed a lot of beautiful spots in the game so I'd like to hear your favorites! 4. Is playing AC Valhalla with low quality going to be pretty satisfying? The device that I'm using probably only going to support Valhalla on medium (?) quality. I really wanted to play Valhalla since it looks really interesting and from the trailer and the voice actor of Male Eivor seems like a perfect match for the character. If it's not worth it then maybe I'll just save Valhalla for another time. 5. What things to do to not miss on Odyssey? Would really love to get some insights!

Sorry for the bad english, I hope you guys can get the points of my questions. Thanks before! :)

I played AC Odyssey the second time as Kassandra... And it was much more fun and authentic

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 10:00 AM PDT

I first bought AC Odyssey when it came out. And played as Alexios.

After playing Valhalla, I wanted to play Odyssey again. This time I chose Kassandra.

And it was such a delight. The gameplay for many reasons is much more better and authentic with Kassandra than Alexios.

Besides Alexios made a better and more menacing Deimos.

Kassandra is one of my favorite Assassins amongst Ezio and Bayek.

If you have only played Odyssey as Alexios. I would recommend you play it the second time as Kassandra. The experience is much better.

What is your favourite thing that NPCs/guards/enemies say when you explore open world or during combat in Assassin's Creed games?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 12:08 AM PDT

I wonder if you have your favourite quotes, my curiousity was sparked when I was playing AC Unity and during combat, one of the enemies said "You missed the last wagon to Austria, traitor?" (needless to say that I smiled like an idiot while killing him).
