A lot of people are asking for a modern day AC. We already got one, its called watch dogs

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 04:01 PM PDT

This may sound dumb but hear me out. They're set in the same universe, which is proven multiple times. Firstly, in AC4 you can see an email from the Blume corporation to Abstergo. Secondly, in Watch Dogs there is a side mission where you kill Olivier Garneau, the boss from AC4 who was assassinated by Abstergo or the Assassins after finding out about all the templar stuff. He's called the exact same thing and he looks the exact same. An unkown number also texts him "Reqiescat in pace" before you kill him. Now that we know its the same universe I can explain how its basically modern day AC

In Watch dogs 2, you play as a secret organisation that wants to take down the big bad ctOS (Who we know work with Abstergo) because of plans of world domination and stuff. You go through and assassinate different people while parkouring around a big city. Sounds familiar

As for why theres no hidden blades, guns. As for why theres no hoods, Wrench has one. Also different franchises and stuff so that would be weird if another franchise had either of these

Can we please remove online trophies from old AC games?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 04:11 PM PDT

I just completed AC black Flag for the first time and I absolutely loved it. My one issue is I can't get the platinum trophy because of the online trophies. I tried to play MP but after sitting in matchmaking for 10 mins without finding a game I gave up. Can't see how I'm supposed to reach level 55.

This issue also affected my entire play through. Because I knew I can't get the platinum I didn't bother with a lot of the collectibles and side activities since I knew there's no point in getting their associate trophies.

In AC3 remastered for example I did get the platinum and the entire journey was freakn awesome. Getting 100% synchronization, getting all of the collectibles, fully upgrading the ship, win in all the mini games etc. you just get so much more when going for platinum.

But I couldn't experience this in AC4. There's no point in getting 98% of the trophies. It'll just feel bad not getting 100%. I didn't even bother in achieving 100% in the story I missions (which is something I always do in AC games) or fully upgrading Edward. I just did the main story, all the Templar hunts and some harpoon hunting.

I just feel like I'm missing out.

So for the love of god, please remove the online trophies from older AC games so we could platinum them.

Frustrated with people going off on historical accuracy.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 11:28 PM PDT

It's just frustrating hearing all of the people claiming this and that about vikings on here recently.

    1. Eyeliner, they wore it.

" Vikings used a type of eyeliner known as kohl which was a dark-colored powder made of crushed antimony, burnt almonds, lead, oxidized copper, ochre, ash, malachite and chrysocolla. It helped keep the harsh glare of the sun from damaging one's eyesight while also increasing the dramatic sex appeal of the wearer. "

    1. Face Paint/body paint, yup! We have written records from the middle east describing it. It would also make sense that they learned it from germanic woad.

    2. Furs totally DID supplement armor.

      https://en.natmus.dk/historical-knowledge/denmark/prehistoric-period-until-1050-ad/the-viking-age/the-people/clothes-and-jewellery/#:~:text=The%20men%20preferred%20trousers%20and,flax%2C%20woven%20by%20the%20women.&text=The%20Vikings%20supplemented%20their%20attire%20with%20jewellery%20and%20furs%20from%20different%20animals.

I could go on with some of this stuff, but in reality I'll probably just get people arguing with me.

Does the Choose Your Own Dialogue aspect of Odyssey make the game better or worse?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 05:46 PM PDT

I want to preface by saying that I do like the game a lot. I'd probably rank it as my 4th or 5th favorite in the series.

That being said I'm about halfway through the game and I feel like the conversation between the protagonist and any other character somewhat bland. I'm still uncertain about the selection of dialogue. A lot of the time the person you are speaking to is usually the one with the better personality.

Maybe it's because I chose Alexios and he sorta sucks? Not sure what's missing here but I am playing this game after just finishing Origins, which doesn't have this feature but feels like the better game.

Hope they do a slightly better job in AC Valhalla with how NPCs react when you ride by them.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 07:13 PM PDT

The way villagers YELP and DIVE out of the way of my gently walking horse is a very over the top reaction in my opinion. It's the reaction I'd expect if I was galloping full speed in their direction.

Now I'd understand that they'd be a little surprised or even shocked if they saw a horse where it's not supposed to be, or climbing the stairs or something.

But why be so alarmed when I'm gently riding by on a trail outside the city where a horse would be a very common sight?

New to franchise and loving Untiy

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 09:43 AM PDT

I'm late to the party and can't help but feel like I've been missing out this whole time! I picked up the Triple Pack with Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate as well as Odyssey ($37 for all 4!). Black Flag wasn't clicking for me, a fun pirate game nonetheless.

Fired up Untiy last week and I've barely done anything else since! Interesting that opinions are split on this game (I understand buggy at launch was big problem). I like the combat system, scenery, characters and of course the setting. The French Revolution with actual revolution in the streets, crowds burning flags etc. I usually don't like tons of cutscenes/movie feel in games but this one really has me hooked. Possible that me being a socialist has something to do with it.

Very excited to play Syndicate (especially those Marx side missions) next and Odyssey eventually. Cheers Assassins!

I'm loving Origins - is Odyssey really a much bigger level grind?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 09:28 PM PDT

Origins may be my third favorite, after AC2 an Black Flag. Origins has lots of side quests but many are skippable and I'm now only doing them to supplement the main quests when needed. Does Odyssey really crank up the need to run side quests?

Jack the Ripper changed my entire opinion of Syndicate

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 03:47 AM PDT

When I first played Syndicate, I loved it. I liked the lighthearted tone, I liked the protagonists, I liked the villains (except starrick fuck starrick), I liked London and traversing it, I liked the zipline, I liked the side characters (freddy and aleck are my mvps).

But yesterday i played the Jack the Ripper dlc and....holy shit. A darker and more serious athmosphere, more detective-esque gameplay at times, a good and intriguing villain, the fact that London actually feels like it's under an oppressive force... like, damn. This is what the main game could have been. Also, holy shit, the fear system. That was probably my favorite new gameplay addition, here. I loved how Abberline returned, i loved how Evie had a bit of a feud with the cops. My only complaint is that I wanted the abberline-evie story to go on longer, but that's unrealistic for a dlc, so i forgive it. This DLC was exceptional and its a bit bittersweet thay it was better than thhe game itself.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the lighthearted tone and everything in Syndicate. I think that it was a good break from the usual nitty-gritty games.

But....im bitter about the fact that the game couldve been like the DLC was, but it wasnt.

ACII/ACIII/ACBF thoughts + question: why is ACII so loved? [minor spoilers]

    Posted: 14 Jun 2020 01:03 AM PDT

kinda spoilers for ACII, ACIII, and ACIV BF

Would like to start this off by saying I'm relatively new to the series. Still, I am hopelessly addicted. I hardly play video games such as these and I am in awe of how it can make me feel such strong, genuine emotions. I started playing ACIII in February. I went in knowing nothing, I didn't even realize it was set in the Revolutionary War (barely looked at the cover before popping it in) until Desmond hopped in the animus. I had barely grasped the Assassin/Templar conflict when the plot twist with Haytham came around. I adored Connor, his empathy was immeasurable and his passion was unbreakable (though he wasn't perfect, his bratiness was something I could do without although I am glad it was included to show his progression). Props to Noah Watts for his wonderful performance, I found Connor's subtle (yet apparent!) and internal character development to be so powerful. After ACIII I played Black Flag, Liberation, Rouge, and read their respective novels (unable to play the newer games, though I have watched Syndicate's cutscenes/gameplay as well as ACI's).

Recently, I finished ACII. I went in with very high hopes, considering all I had heard about the game from various youtube comments and articles. Yet, I came out the otherside... disappointed? Now, don't get me wrong, the game was great. Ezio's journey was wonderful. To see him go from a brash young dude who shouted at an already dead Vieri to a Would like to start this off by saying I'm relatively new to the series. Still, I am hopelessly addicted. Recently, I finished ACII. I went in with very high hopes, considering all I had heard about the game from various youtube comments and articles. Yet, I came out the other side... disappointed? Now, don't get me wrong, the game was great. Ezio was great. To see him go from a brash young dude who shouted at an already Vieri, righteous man who recognized that killing would not bring him family back was very wonderful. Not to mention, he was incredibly charismatic and funny. However, with all that being said, I did not enjoy this game nearly as much as I did ACIII or Black Flag. As much as I liked Ezio, I found the game to be boring at some parts. ACIII also suffered the same fate, but on a lesser scale. Perhaps I'm saying this because I've only just finished the game and I need more time to 'digest' it fully and understand everything, but immediately after playing the other AC games I had fallen in love, unlike ACII. This would also be a good time to mention I have yet to play Brotherhood and Revelations which I plan to start tomorrow, so maybe it's a bit unfair for me to be comparing Ezio's unfinished story to other characters who I know all about. But I believe it's valid for me to compare them in some degree, as I at least have the experience of one game with him as I do the rest. To compare him to Connor would be difficult and unfair as they are drastically different, so I'm just going to use Edward for my example as to why I didn't like Ezio's first game as much. Ezio's story started out tragic, but after that the game never made me feel much of anything past "oh, this is fun" or "oh, what a nice moment" or "oh, that's sad" (with this exception of the rooftop scene w/Frederico and the ending which I thought was amazing). Edward's, however, started out with a bang (literally) but it wasn't as tragic. That is, not until all of his friends die and his realizes that he is on a "fool's errand' like his ex-wife told him and he becomes better for it. Towards he end, he finds himself with all the riches he had hoped for, but is largely unfulfilled and feels like a failure (or something of the sort). And then there's the ending with his daughter, and that is the only moment a video game has ever made me cry. Basically what I'm trying to get at here is, for me personally, I did not find ACII nearly as powerful as BF because it did not include those defining moments that stick with me/make me cry/make me take a look at my own life. Yes, Ezio had a cool story where he turned out to be this grand hero and basically saved Italy but it didn't stick with me. With all that being said, I have been wondering about those of you who really love ACII. I wanna hear your reasoning behind it. Not because I want to tear it down or anything, but because I want to hopefully look back at the game and take what people say into account and form a new respect for it. That is, when I finished Brotherhood and Revelations. I have a feeling I'll have a newfound love for Ezio after those games.

So, if it's your favorite game or among the top few, why? If Ezio is your favorite assassin, why? What is the defining moment in this game for you? Also, if you like Brotherhood/Revelations better or those games are the ones that include the defining Ezio moment for you please feel free to include that as well, but be mindful to keep it either spoiler free or put a warning and I'll look back when I've finished those games. Whew, sorry for all that babble I just spewed.

TL;DR: I've played a few other AC games and just finished ACII, but even though everyone says it's their favorite game I found it underwhelming (but still great). If you are one of those who adore this game, why? I want to open my eyes to understand this game and it's glory.

I miss the 'weightiness' from the old games

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 01:01 AM PDT

All right so what I mean to say; I just finished Odyssey (it was OK but not too memorable to me) and remembered that I got AC: Syndicate for free on Epic Store a while back. I already finished it a while back and didn't really like the story and the main characters, which is still the case, but WOW the movement! After Odyssey, in Syndicate my character felt so much heavier, which made everything feel so much more real to me. It also really makes me feel like I really am moving around some crazy killing machine and it got me very immersed again. The way you can slowly walk, stalk and kill. The camera is also much closer, which I also prefer.

This is just a bit of my thoughts on paper, but what I mean to say is that the pre-origins characters seem to feel more 'weighty' which makes everything from walking around, blending in and climbing much more real. I noticed that I was instantly more immersed because of this. Maybe someone in the comments knows what I mean to say and can further elaborate on it :).

I'm not hating on the new titles or anything, I just notice every time that my preference is with the older games. What do you guys think?

Anyone knows why are the range&elemental resistance partially malfunctioning?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 11:22 PM PDT

(AC Odyssey) I have tried to protect myself from the explosive arrow damage.

The damage of single explosive arrow is weak, but the damage is insane if I shoot the explosive arrow with any archer's ability. My full-health character died because of it even though my range resistance was 95% and elemental resistance was 100%.

Now I changed my setting to 70% melee, 100.54% range, and 100% elemental resistance (sacred oracle set + fire resistance engraving) but the damage is still too big. I can barely survive with half health with the above spec when the explosive arrow is detonated in zero range. Is it a bug? Or, the explosive arrow also has a melee damage? I am so curious about it.

PoEs with Abstergo/Templars in the MD

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 03:41 PM PDT

So while playing through AC2 and collecting all the Truth files, Subject 16 shows us a lot of the pieces of Eden that exist, the Shroud, the Sword, multiple Apples and all that but two in particular stand out cause they were in Templar Hands after/during the founding of Abstergo, there's one Apple Edison and Ford took from Tesla after discrediting him and driving him insane (I think I don't remember exactly) and another Apple they recover from the Moon.

Have they shown these apples being taken from Templar possession prior to the events of the games in the alternate media or do they pop up in the existing modern day in other media.

Cause if there is no evidence to the contrary we can only assume that it's still with the Templars and if so why aren't they using them is the real question.

P.S. Spoilers: Wasn't Desmond's son a sage and Abstergo had footage showing them that a sage could open up the Observatory and also the location of the Observatory from Edwards memories so I wonder why they didn't use him to get the skull while he was under their custody
