Shao Jun deserved a full game

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 07:11 PM PDT

Just watched Assassin's Creed Embers (fully recommended for anyone that has not seen it) and I'm really sad at the fact that she only got a game in the Chronicles series, her character, motivations, objectives, outfit and habilities were absolutely awesome. And don't get me started with the foot hidden blade, it would have been awesome to play in China with a full game starring her.

Origins is a breath a fresh air

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 04:36 PM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I usually don't post unless its about a confusion I have with the plot, or a complaint with the game....but, I just had to make a post about how great this game is, and why I also don't understand some of the criticism of this game.

This game is...amazing. I wish I had gotten it earlier. I stopped buying AC games after Unity because...it had honestly gotten stale. AC3 sucked, AC4 was nice but a bit formulaic, and Rogue was just AC4 dlc. Unity, which nice, but again....formulaic (same AC vs Templar shit, same stale combat, same city architecture and climbing buildings shit etc.).

    Origins though:

new combat styles with different weapons. I loooove dual blades. I love the different types of arrows, and different abilities they have you can unlock. I love egypt. Now you have terrain, mountains, deserts, pyramids, statues, etc. Bayek is the only protagonist I've rooted for and been invested in since Ezio. The plot is really nice and well paced (the 3rd act doesn't exist in my head). I could go on, but I love it. It feels like a breath of fresh air, and I haven't been this invested in an AC game in a long time. If Odessy is anything like this, I"m probably going to buy that tomorrow!

Yes, the games leveling is grindy and can be slow at times (they should've made the hidden blade a one-shotter no matter what, so you could still progress even at level 1). Yes the modern day storyline is probably the shittiest fanfic style poor dialogue, poor pacing, no character development, pile of burning dumpster fire I've ever seen/heard of in my life. Yes, the 3rd acts pacing was horrendous and it just felt like Ubisoft came in and was like, oh only done with 1/2 the game? Well you have 2 weeks, wrap it up. And yes, the parkor really isn't that great (they already had a superb system from Unity, don't know why they reverted back to AC1). But everything up to that point, was amazing (and does anyone even care about the modern day storyline anyways).

But the biggest thing I want to say....is this isn't an AC game. With these new combat styles and weapons, you don't need stealth anymore. The hidden blade is now tied to your level, and parkor has somewhat taken a back seat (not to mention the RPG element introduction). And that's not a bad thing...it's great! I was tired of the stale old AC style, and wanted something new and fresh. Unity was a good game (if broken). But it was stale, a continuation of the same old style I had already seen and played for years and years. This game, was a breath of fresh air, and has gotten me back into the AC universe personally.

Re writing the Ancient trilogy to finish the Juno plotline (Origins, Odyssey and Legion)

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 05:01 PM PDT

    ORIGINS - ASSASSINS ORIGINS

The majority of the rewrite goes to the modern day's tone and the modern protagonit (MP) characterization and backstory.

First of all, drop the finding DNA and reliving it. Let's go back to descendant reliving ancestor life.

So, the modern protagonist in his version is hired by Abstergo for memory research. They tell her they've recovered the DNA of a certain Bayek of Siwa.

Her mentor leading her throughout the game helping her with the bleeding effect and training her is the new interim Abstergo CEO, still waiting approval by higher Templar commands to become fully CEO.

He needs results but tries a different approach with the Modern protagonist.

The experience throughout the game is designed to mirror Desmond's with Vidic in the first.

Where Desmond was forced and introduced to the assassin Templar lore brutally, the MP is helped by Abstergo during her animus journey and believes in the lie.

Where Vidic was brutally efficient, fascist in nature and seemingly losing control of the situation, the new CEO is kind, calm, philosophically persuasive and seems to not care a lot about the pressure of the job.

Where Desmond knew he was Altairs descendant, MP doesn't know at first she's a descendant of Bayek.

That's the point. She thinks she was hired to do memory research of DNA but it was a lie.

There was no DNA and she is a descendant of the founder of the brotherhood.

She got caught in the system due to using an animus console.

That's how Abstergo knew she was linked to Bayek cause her profile, with many others, got flagged by the system of surveillance.

Abstergo's goal wasn't just to witness the founding of the assassin brotherhood but also to investigate more about the rising threat of Juno (Juno events).

As a certain artifact found by Bayek in this game would prove important in the fight against the instruments of juno in the modern day.

The reason the new CEO chose another approach was because he found little results of the order with the kidnapping aggressive strategy with Desmond and others. He's too kind for them

    ODYSSEY - TEMPLAR ORIGINS

This is where things would get very different on the historical level. Forget the storyline we had. Forget cult of cosmos.

In this game we would witness the Templar origins and how it was connected to the Juno plot.

We would still play with Kassandra, also an ancestor of MP in Greece centuries before Origins but here we would witness much life Origins the founding of an order.

The difference being, Kassandra creating the order for genuine kind purposes but witnessing the corruption of its ideology through the years.

In the modern day we would finally witness the full training of MP.

However in this game she would escape Abstergo and eventually find the Assassin's. But there is duality in her.

Trained by Templar and sympathetic to some of their values but also liking the Creed as well. The integration into the assassins would not be easy.

LEGION - INSTRUMENTS OF JUNO ORIGINS

I fully believe a Roman game was planned to finish the scrapped Juno trilogy so in this game we would witness the origins of the instruments of Juno.

We would also finally confront the instruments in the modern day with MP dealing with the fact that she is both a descendant of Bayek and Kassandra and using their skills to take down the instruments and Juno.

Also a temporary alliance between Assassins and Templars would occur t fight Juno.

Desmond's conscience would also return briefly to guide MP in a moment of doubt after Rebecca dies in a mission.

The tone of this trilogy would be serious all around especially for modern day.

No more taking it lightly or having huge time jumps. No more finding DNA. Just classical AC stuff.

Which world do you think is better: Egypt (Origins) or Greece (Odyssey)?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:33 PM PDT

I happen to love both games despite people hating on Odyssey. As an OG assassins creed fan I obviously enjoy the AC elements of Origins more though... but they definitely both have amazingly beautiful worlds! I can't decide which world I like more. So which world is your favorite and why? Strictly the map, not the game itself

Edit* I feel like Egypt was more badass and so unique but I think odyssey was more beautiful... so I guess they have their own ups n downs

It would be cool if future games bound in the animus more and feel like a Simulation again

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 03:30 AM PDT

I really liked the Animus interface and menu GUIs that let you feel like that you are in a Simulation.

Also that when you start an mission or end one it gave these animations that looked so cool. This really gave you a cool Sci Fi feelling. But I think with future games the moved more away with that, they even changed the desynchronized message.

Do you think the should bound in the animus more again and let you feel like that you are in a Simulation?

My Take On Odyssey As An AC Game

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 10:32 PM PDT

So I wanna preface this first, I'll always love Assassins Creed. That's why I'm sharing this because I think this legacy deserves better.

Odyssey is by no means an AC game or an RPG. It's not an RPG because it tries to give you an established character but with no insight of who they are and all of the "choices" you have constitute entirely different personalities with no constant theme. To make a successful RPG you either need a blank slate that you get to build and make your own (like Elder Scrolls), or an established character that when you make choices that character makes them in the way they would (like Geralt). Odyssey tried to blend them together and failed.

Second, the world is empty and dead. Athens (one of the largest civilized places in the world at the time with a thriving society) is nearly dead quiet with no real interaction to the world unlike games like Red Dead Redemption 2. You have no real activity to catch your attention as you mindlessly wander from one objective to another.

Third, the story is incoherent and honestly goes nowhere. Not only that it does nothing for the lore of the universe. You follow a random merc as they fight and fuck their way across Greece before they randomly obtain this staff. There's no reason to show us this story as it doesn't tell one, just serves as a reason to hand Layla her own version of Desmond's Apple. And the lore. They treated the Isu like gods and gave you all kinds of interaction with them even though they really shouldn't have and let you explore the afterlife. What purpose does this to forward story or lore? Nothing. It treats the Isu like supernatural beings and not as the intelligent species they were meant to be.

I will give it to Odyssey, I did like Darius. I didn't l like the fact that they spat in the face of lore and essentially gave him his own brotherhood in the mountains that were assassins. They are spitting in the face of what they did in Origins by having Bayek's life's work in establishing an order that stretches to the modern day be a copycat of something someone else he didn't even know did nearly 400 years prior. It's not right and it's just a bad attempt at fan service.

Lastly, it is honestly just honestly doesn't give you that AC feel. In games before you were stripped of everything and you worked your way up from a decent fighter to a true warrior with the best gear mowing down opponents that gave you trouble when you first started. Odyssey has no progression. Levels mean nothing as enemies will always be similar to you, your gear means nothing, and you are always the superhero even though by game lap standards everyone is on the same playing field which then loops back to the story. There is no progression, no change or improvement to the character. You start and end the same person with the same skills in a slightly different place.

Assassins Creed is meant to tell stories of change and growth in worlds that are alive and interesting.

Odyssey isn't an Assassins Creed game. It's isn't even an RPG. It's just a disappointment to someone that loves this franchise and knows this company can do and has done better

Visual Customization System should be used on recruits, lieutenant or brotherhood. 40+ items on each body part and most of the time, you only wear your most favorite.

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 06:46 PM PDT

As an artist myself, it really sucks that there are many equipment that a lot of the Ubisoft 3D artists have worked on but only a handful of them can be seen. This is what made Unity stood out cause when you go multiplayer you get to see other players preferences, their outfits and colors.

Since there will be no multiplayer for the upcoming game why not make your recruits use the visual customization system. When I recruited Lieutenants, I choose the most awesome looking regardless of what they offer to my ship so that when I call on them with my assassin skill to distract enemies while I sneak, I see them in combat with their glorious armor on.

I remember playing brotherhood and you get to recruit someone to become an assassin. I believe this is a missed opportunity on Odyssey which they can implement on the new game. You get to dress up your recruits, your mercenary band, your brotherhood of assassins, so you can call on them and see them wearing the loot you picked up!

This is the same with Spiderman PS4, over 30+ suits but only a handful are used what a waste on the artists effort, many hours put into modeling but only about 5 suits are cycled. The same with Odyssey, there are so many items available to fashion out your character but you only wear your first pick, I'd like my recruits to wear my second, third, fourth and fifth picks of mix equipment!

Assassin's Creed: Forsaken is well worth a read. It follows Haytham Kenway from his early childhood to his death. It also shows his side of the story in AC3, and develops his character really well. I really recommend reading this book.

Ranking the Assassin's Creed games by story?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 08:40 PM PDT

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting here and I've just recently gotten into the Assassin's Creed games. I played through Odyssey and I'm close to finishing Origins at the moment. I also played a little bit of Brotherhood a long time ago. My question is, how would you all rank the Assassin's Creed games best to worst based on the quality of the story within the game alone? I want to go back and play more of the games and want to know which ones have the best story since that's what I'm most interested in. I'm absolutely loving Origins and I think a lot of that has to do with my being actively invested and interested in Bayek and his story. Odyssey on the other hand I thought was okay, but not nearly as good as Origins because its story hardly interested me at all and I could care less about Alexios or Kassandra. I'd love to hear what all your rankings are and thanks in advance for any replies!

How does save works on Ezio Trilogy?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 11:45 PM PDT

I finished Ac2 and I was at sequence 7 of Brotherhood. I paused and went to the main menu and randomly lost 6 hours of save data and started at the end of sequence 5. My question is, how does the game saves? I read that it saves when you kill someone or finish a sequence, but apparently I didn't start at the end of sequence 6, but way back. Does someone know how it works?

The Three Musketeers as a setting

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:35 AM PDT

A think a creed game centered around the era of the The Three Musketeers could be interesting. It probably will never happen since it would be too close to Unity in terms of location and timeline (though the book takes place from 1625-1628, so it's 164 years earlier, to be fair).

Since The Three Musketeers books are common domain by now, they could even use the characters as part of the storyline, such as D'argtagnan. The books are filled with intrigue, dangerous men and women, camaraderie, betrayal and of course lots of action and aventure. Perfect for an Assassin's Creed game imo. The power strugge between the king and cardinal Richelieu could be augmented to include Assassin-Templar politics. Richelieu's guard corps would probably be your normal enemies. You having a cover persona as a musketeer would also explain why the enemies know you by sight (it always felt odd to me in Unity for instance that enemies would always be suspicious of you even when you were just walking in the street like everyone else. But maybe that's because you're the only one walking around looking like an assassin lol. Incidentally, in this game I think they should do away with the assassin outfits, it doesn't make sense that you would draw attention to yourself by essentially wearing an Assassin's 'uniform').

You could be a young assassin tasked with joining the King's Musketeers (thereby hiding in plain sight). Some missions would be non-Assassins related and would be various tasks performed for the captain of the musketeers or the king. Other would be the actual assassinations which you do in secret and which you fellow musketeers don't know about.

Rapier combat and guns should be emphasized, though other weapons could be available. But when you think of musketeers you think rapiers, usually. Make combat flashy so you can swing into battle from a chandelier, fight atop tables and kick enemies.

As I said, I don't think it would ever happen since they already made a game based in France, but it's fun to dream :)

Final assassin's creed game idea, name assassin's creed the last act

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 10:40 PM PDT

All assassin's creed games to make the final game, take the characters you play as a d put them in a hub of helix network like in the AC movie so it can be your longest game right after dynasty, you get to choose which character to play as and play the game he/she corresponds to, ezio gets 3 options as said in his trilogy, the unlockable one is rebellion from mobile but the characters you played as appear their if their story is over or at 25% done with, to unlock it you have to complete 25% of Edward kenways story and win a gang war with jacob, once completed you get an achievement called (true fan, a legend, and a hero) if you unlock the Kenway flag and ezio outfit in assassin's creed syndicate you get the (noble) achievement, if complete the entire game to all 100% you get a cutscene to show how all assassins became assassins going in the timeline it goes in from older to more modern, the disk looks like steel black with blue on one half of the eagle skull symbol then cut off like unity but at top then the other half is red because not all templars are bad, all remastered to look like the modern version of the graphics you use, it will be hell of a work but the fans will love it and be pleased with it, for more info contact me on my channel and I'll give you my gmail address to discuss in private, I will be happy to work with you guys on this one, ooh new assassin idea leader of the irish rebellion to fight in the 11 year war but he died at the end with a noble sacrifice

    Assassin’s Creed Movie (Under Disney)

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 03:37 PM PDT

So I'm not too sure whether New Regency owns shared production rights with Ubisoft or not, but if Disney/New Regency were to go ahead and do another Assassin's Creed movie, would you like it to be connected to the 2016 version, go over a game (e.g Black Flag is a popular choice) or delve into a new protagonist and story?

Personally it's probably cliche I would love to see Ezios three games as movies I just love the character.

    Unity V. Syndicate Discussion

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 11:46 AM PDT

I Love both of these games very much and I wanted to make a discussion about things I preferred in each game and wanted to see what others think. I'll start off with Syndicate.

Things I preferred in Syndicate: 1. The Setting.

You might think I'm crazy but I preferred London over Paris. I felt that London was more colorful and vibrant specifically in the richer parts like The City of London, The Strand, and Westminster. I also liked that they added children, I felt that it added to the immersion. I really liked walking around and seeing the children play and the NPC's doing many different activities like playing cricket, watching others play musical instruments and having realistic conversations.

    1. The Combat.

Once again you might think I'm crazy for this but hear me out. In Unity I felt that the combat was too clunky. I would have moments where more then one enemy would attack me at once, it's not like I can parry two enemies at the same time, there's nothing you can do but take damage. Also when there's an enemy aiming to shoot at you and you aren't in direct combat with them, you cannot dodge the bullet, resulting in death or a large chunk in health going down. They fixed this in Syndicate by being able to dodge enemies attacking simultaneously and being able to dodge bullets at all times. I understand people saying Syndicate's combat was too fast paced and the animation looks cartoonish, but in Unity it felt sluggish to me, everything unfolding slowly. On top of that some of the kill animations in Unity it looked like the sword was just phasing through their body and not actually stabbing them. Also when your allies would join in on a fight to help you, you might lock into a finisher animation while the ally kills them, so you sit there swinging your sword wildly at the air. I also found this happening often in co-op.

    1. Stealth Gameplay

I think they definitely improved on this from Unity to Syndicate. You no longer had to press A or X to go into cover it was automatic. Enemies no longer detected you as easily which was quite annoying in Unity it felt like snipers can see you from anywhere. There was also Evie's Chameleon skill which made you go invisible while still in sneak mode. I liked being able to zip up a building and escape before anyone realized anything. Also whistling was also a neat feature.

    1. Eagle Vision

In Syndicate you can tag people to see them for as long as you need, but in Unity I found myself using eagle vision over and over again which got quite annoying at times because it would run out and the highlighted enemies would no longer be highlighted.

    1. Side activities

Liberating child labor factories and hunting down Templar's to gain territory and fight in a gang war to take full control was something I had a blast with and didn't become repetitive to me because I like to play Evie and really enjoy the stealth gameplay with her.

    1. The Process of 100 percenting the game

In Unity they locked the maps for the Chests behind a pay wall that was only unlockable through Helix Credits $$$ 🤩. While in Syndicate you can purchase these with the money you get in game. They also made some of the collectibles way too intricate. Like the Artifacts in the rifts where you can only get one per run and they spawn at random so you could be playing it up to 10 times to get all 4.

Things I prefer in Unity: 1. Main Character and Story

In my opinion Arno just felt like more of an Assassin. In Syndicate there was an absence of a Brotherhood and only three Assassins in London, while in Unity there was a whole Brotherhood and home base. While the train hideout was a pretty cool and a smart idea for Evie, Jacob, and Henry, it didn't feel like a traditional Assassin hideout. I also just enjoyed the story and characters more lol.

    1. Customization

Not much to say really there's way more outfits and colors to choose from it's way better in unity most people know this.

    1. Tools

Unity had more tools to be used, like cherry bombs, poison gas, and stuns

    1. Weapons

There was way more variety and different types of weapons in Unity. You could use a sword an axe, mortar bomb launcher, rifle, long staffs, maces etc... While in Syndicate there's was only three types, Brass Knuckles, Sword Cane, and Kukri. While it is more accurate to the time period being that they didn't use swords then, there was still much much more they could have done.

    1. Co-op

This was a feature that they could have included in Syndicate even if it was just 2 players only being able to play as Evie and Jacob. It would have been cool to see this but Unity had it and I had a blast playing coop with my friends. Also the coop mission and heists were pretty fun too.

    1. Parkour

Unity's Parkour was overall more fluid. While both games have the same parkour system, Syndicate's was more limited because of the rope launcher. You aren't able to leap across certain spots and you are forced to use the rope launcher making it feel more restricted.

These were just a few things that I preferred from each game, I could've done more but I've been doing this for an hour and want to wrap it up. Let me know what you think about this and which game you prefer and why.

Which AC mission did you find was the toughest?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 03:17 PM PDT

That sequence in AC rouge wherein you had to chase and kill Hope was the most irritating in my opinion, mostly due to the glitch in which the hag kept running the same pace as I was making it impossible to catch up to her.

That boat tailing in the swamp sequence in black flag also made me go bonkers.
